The rain fell on a silent town and the cloud blocked the sun. A sea of black suits and hats. Veils hung over the eyes of Sarah and Claira. Tears and sobs filled the church as two caskets sat at the front. Every seat was filled with people crying out the names the dead. Even if only two bodies had survived the war to be buried. The names of the fallen will be laid to rest with these two.
Sarah took a stand between the two caskets. "Even with only my mom and my dad here to bury, we lay all the fallen to rest. Our tears will fall with the rain and we will continue to feel the pain. We must carry on with their memories and carry their names with us. They may be gone but they are not forgotten. We are what is left of them. We can cry. We can be in pain. We will still be here to share their stories. Come forward and place their pictures in the caskets so they may too lay in piece."
Sarah look to each of the caskets with tears flooding her vision. In a choked voice she spoke one last time. "I love you mom and I lay you to rest knowing your kindness touched so many even without knowing them directly." She had to clear her eyes and compose herself before she continued. "I love you dad. I didn't know you king but I knew your heart was powerful. I know you tried to teach me everything I needed to know. I know you sacrificed yourself for all of us." Sarah soon fell apart and collapsed in the ground tear pouring from her eyes. She cried out in pain her face becoming red as she choked on her tears.
Claira ran and got down beside her pulling her as close as she could. Soon one by one everyone gathered around them as the Paul bearers came and collected the caskets. They picked the up and carried them to the grave yard. Everyone sat in the floor before they collected their composure. They as a group gathered outside with the priest.
It all went by in slow motion like Sarah was watching a slowed video. The last rights to Sarah felt like an hour but to everyone else was five minutes. "Sarah? Sarah?!" Claira yelled but Sarah didn't budge. She stared off into space tears flowing unhindered. Sarah fell to her knees her face contorting into a pained expression as she broke down again. She tried to climb into the grave with her mom as the dirt was being pushed in. She was stopped just in time by Claira both laying on the ground covered in mud. Sarah curled up in her wife's lap as Claira stroked her hair to comfort her.
"On this day two hero's have been laid to rest." The news put out on every platform they had.
