"Darling wait!" Hinami was hopping on one foot, trying to put on her shoe and fell.
"Geez.." I facepalmed and leaned against the wall near the door. "Could you be anymore of a child?"
"Nope!" She looked up at me and smiled.
I looked at her and sighed then smiled. She was really cute when she was like this. I helped her up then we walked out the door. I planned on taking her to as many places as she pleased, so rest in peace to my wallet...
"Darling, let's go to that cafe! It's called, Yakashima Cafe! I didn't know they had Asian places in America!" She pointed with the hand that wasn't already holding mine.
"Alright then, let's go." I began to walk to the cafe, but Hinami was practically already dragging me there.
Hinami opened the door and her eyes sparkled as she looked inside. "It's so huge..and pretty.." She walked in and let go of my hand. I followed her inside and looked around.
"I agree..this place surely is popular." I looked around and saw lots of people sitting and enjoying themselves. "Let's go get a seat." I looked at Hinami.
"Okay!" She smiled and hurried to a free table. I followed and sat in a seat in front of her. "Click!" She took a picture of me.
"O-Ow! Hinami the flash is still on!" I rubbed my eyes.
"Oops!" She laughed. "I didn't notice."
A waitress came up to us with menus in her hand and bowed. "Welcome to Yakashima Cafe, today's special is Chocolate Chip Sundae with sprinkles with a side of Sakamore Boba Tea." She placed the menus in front of us.
'I already know what Hinami is getting..' I thought to myself.
"I'd like today's special!" Hinami smiled happily at the waitress.
"Oh okay then." She giggled a bit. "What about you, sir?"
"I'll just have the same thing she's getting." I smiled.
"Coming right up." She took the menus and walked off.
I looked out the window as Hinami was talking happily about things. I smiled and listened to her ramble on and on about things. I always loved when she was like this. It always showed how happy she was..she's the complete opposite than what she was..2 years ago.
"Kyotsu.." She looked at me as the rain was pouring down on her. She looked at me with despair and sadness in her eyes.
"Hinami.." I walked to her with my umbrella and noticed she had blood all on her clothes. "What happened?"
Out of the blue she hugged me and sobbed loudly and held on to me, saying things I couldn't quite make out. She cried and cried, I didn't know what to do. That night I took her in and slowly she moved in. My family loved her like she was their own daughter. My sister was already gone to college so she didn't get to meet Hinami.
Hinami was still a bit depressed behind her smile..I knew it..she always smiled for my sake and my parents sake. A few months after she moved in, my mom passed away from her illness..and my dad died in a car crash weeks later. We lived alone ever since. I grieved their deaths, Hinami was always beside me..I was able to move forward with her.
[Back to the Present]
"Here's your Sundaes and Sakamore Boba Tea." The waitress set down our orders on the table and bowed.
"Thank you!" Hinami smiled happily and began to enjoy her sundae. "It's really good darling!"
"You really shouldn't talk with stuff in your mouth." I reached over and wiped her mouth and looked at her, blushing.
Hinami looked at me and blushed also. "You really haven't changed a bit..treating me like a kid. You're really a soft and caring person."
"W-What?! I wouldn't have to treat you like a kid if you didn't act like one!" I sat down and looked away, blushing then smiled.
After a few minutes, we finished our sundaes and tea. I paid the bill and we left the cafe. We decided to take a stroll in the park next. I sat on a bench and watched Hinami play hopscotch with the kids. She was..still a little kid at heart. I don't know a thing about her past..but this girl..she was my happiness, the happiness I lost when my parents died. I blinked once and began to doze off slowly. The sun was making me a bit sleepy.
Hinami walked to me and smiled. "Who's the kid now..?" She sat beside me and scooted closer and laid her head against my chest. "I love you...Kyotsu Hasaki..."
That was the first time in forever..she ever said my full name. I instinctively held her close and she closed her eyes and fell asleep. An hour later I woke up and looked around.
"Mmm..? Must've fallen asleep.." I looked at Hinami who was asleep on my chest. I smiled and shook her a little. "Hey wake up.."
"Mmm.." She softly make noise and slowly opened her eyes. "Huh..?" She sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Fallen asleep..?"
"Yeah, I didn't expect to fall asleep at all.." I smiled. "Come on our date is still going." I stood up and stretched.
"Right." She smiled and stood up also.
She held my hand and we walked out the park and made our way to the mall. This is where I originally intended to take her. She gasped and looked up.
"It's huge! Malls like this exist?!" She looked at me.
"Yeah, this is the Lakeview Mall. There's a huge lake down the street and on the top floor of the mall you can see the lake." I said.
"Can we stop by the lake after this?" She looked at me.
"Of course." I smiled.
We walked in the mall, Hinami was practically dragging me. She was excited, so it was understandable. She went to a lot of different clothing stores and jewelry stores. I didn't mind paying for all the expensive things, I only cares if she was happy. I held majority of the bags. She spent at least 2 hours shopping, I'm lucky enough to have cash left to be honest. We made a stop back home since it wasn't far to put our bags in the house. Afterwards, we walked down to the lake. She held my hand the entire way, talking about random things that happened in the past. Soon, we made it to the lake. We were the only two there.
"It's so pretty at night.." I said.
"Mmm.." Hinami nodded in agreement. She let go of my hand and walked closer to the water. I followed and sat down near where she stood.
"Looking at the lake, reminds me when my dad used to take me out fishing..and mom would sit in the back and watch us with the happiest smile. Then when you came along, her smiles only got bigger and brighter..we were so happy back then to have you around.. especially me.." I smiled and looked up and saw tears falling down her cheek.
"I miss them so much.." She wiped her eyes, but tears kept coming.
She crouched down and sobbed. I got closer to her and held her closely. I missed them too a lot...they were our driving force in life, even if we knew they couldn't help us forever. I wiped Hinami's tears and smiled softly.
"They are always watching over us..they are a part of us..they always will be..." I looked at her.
Hinami looked at me and nodded she looked in my eyes and slowly held my hand that was on the soft grass. I looked back in her eyes. I never noticed before how bright her eyes shine..her emerald green eyes..they sparkled in the moonlight like a diamond being held up in the sky. She leaned closer to me and closed her eyes slowly. I did the same and our lips touched then we kissed, under the moonlight. Our date ended there..under the shimmering moonlight. We laid on the grass.
"I love you Hinami Dijoma.." I held her close. "More than anything in the world.."
She looked up at me and smiled. "I love you too.. Kyotsu Hasaki..more than anything in the world also.."
