A New Friend

Alex was the definition of a loner. He never had any parents. He had some families wanting to adopt him but because of extremely unlucky events he never was. After the age people usually get adopted based he went into a foster family that didn't love him. The only silver lining was that the foster parents never abused him and gave him all the basic necessities that they should have.

Alex only had one friend who's name was David. David was a short and chubby 18 year old with blonde hair. The exact opposite looks from Alex who was tall and slender with a sharp face and well kept black hair. David always told Alex that the only thing keeping him from being a model was his total lack of muscle. However, Alex never felt like working out would benefit him so he stayed mediocre looking.

Today, like most days, the two boys were eating lunch by themselves when Alex noticed a girl walk by. It was a girl named Claire who he has had a crush on since elementary school.

"She doesnt even know you exist, stop wasting your time on her" David said when he noticed who Alex was looking at.

"Thats not true we have been in the same class for over 5 years. We were even in the same group for a few projects over the years." Alex replied.

"And yet she has never talked to you outside of class that just proves my point. She thinks she is too good for us, that is the problem with popular girls and she fits that stereotype perfectly." David said for what he felt was the thousandth time.

Alex and David finished their lunch after some more arguing and then went about their day normally. After school David told Alex that he had to go to his DnD club after school so they couldnt walk home together like usual.

Alex was listening to music and had made it about halfway to his home before he noticed that Claire had just walk from a different street and was now walking a few feet in front of him.

As Alex was pondering if he should catch up to her and say something, or if he should just listen to David and forget about it he noticed something he would soon regret. Claire was texting and didnt notice that she had walked into the road where a truck was driving.

Before he even thought about it he was in the street pushing Claire out of the way, taking the truck straight to his side.

"Isnt this what it takes to be a hero, having your body move before your mind can think. I remember hearing that somewhere but it seems fuzzy now. I am surprised Truck-kun really got me I always thought that was only for reincarnated main characters." Many thoughts appeared in Alex's mind while he was lying in the street with blood flowing out of his mouth.

Before he could think about anything else he heard a sweet voice near him he opened his eyes to see Claire tearing up kneeling over him. Alex smiled as he saw Claire caring about him more then ever before and then he heard her voice.

*Sob*

"I..I...I can't belive a stranger I have never meet before was willing...*sniff* to throw himself in front of a truck for me." Claire cried with tears coming from her eyes.

Alex's smile disappered as he heard her words "I guess David was right all along, maybe I should have just yelled at her to move instead of jumping for her" Alex was heart broken as he saw a beautiful face he had instantly come to dislike before his vision faded to black.

When Alex's eyes opened he saw a vast expance of white. In every direction was a flat white plane that refelected a light coming from nowhere. Directly in front of him he saw the only thing he could see in any direction, a kid sitting in a chair with his feet kicked up on a table that seperated the two.

"Hey whats up my name is Lu Sun, but you can call me Lu its nice to meet you." The kid said to Alex as he jumped up from his chair with a wide smile on his face.

"Um my name is Alexander Jenkins, wh... where am I" Alex said while his brain was spinning with possibilities.

"Oh well this is what you would call 'heaven' but really it is just where I brought you after you died to talk to you about something." Lu replied in a nonchalant manner.

"Di..di..did you say died" Alex said while falling to his knees, this was one of his possibilities but he didn't really wanted to believe it.

"Yeah sorry about that but there is nothing I can do about your death now, but I did just so happen to watch it all go down and I felt really bad about how depressing your life has been so I decided to give you a new one." Lu said while smiling

"What do you mean 'a new one' a new life?" Alex couldnt belive what was going on. Why is god a 16 year old? Why is he giving me a second? Is all of the real?

"Yes I mean a new life. Secondly obviously I am not actually 16 this is just how I look, and I am giving you a second chance because I also want a second chance. Finally yes this is all very real, and before you ask something dumb, yes I can read your mind." Lu said while waving his hand as if this didn't matter but he quickly regained the excited expression on his face.

"Listen Alex I went through your mind and saw all of the Isekai manga and novels, you read and I have to say it looked fun so I decided to do just that for you. However there is a condition, I want to come with you. My dad made me watch over this world as training but Earth doesn't even have any magic so the past few thousand years have been very boring." Lu said while looking at Alex hopefully

"So you will come down with me to the new world, what is this Konosuba" Alex said while he tried to wrap his brain around what was happening.

"Well no because if left this place completely my dad would notice and we would be both in trouble. But I can attach my conciousness into your soul to give you powers and enjoy the show along with you." Lu corrected as he walked towards Alex with an excited face like a child.

"What kind of powers can you give me in the new world?" Alex asked hopefully.

"I was thinking I will become your system just like in the novels that way we can both experience something new and have a great time together." Lu explained while contiuning to walk towards Alex with a face that was starting to creep Alex out.

"Um I guess that sounds like it could be fun, I was always jealous of those guys with huge harems and OP powers." Alex was hesitant at first but when he thought of all the Isekai storys he had heard he got excited.

"Great then I will give you some divine energy to house my conciosuness and run your new system. I will see you when you wake up." Lu said before he waved his hand.

"What do you mean when I wa.." Alex said before he fell to the ground cluching his head while his brain felt like it was melting. He only lasted a few seconds of the other worldly pain before his vison blacked out for the second time in his life.
