Chapter-14 : Breakthrough

"Richard come here." Coppola called Richard towards him and played the last scene.

"There is something missing isn't it?" he questioned Ric.

After seeing the scene even Richard have agree with the view.

"Yes something is missing, something like an edge, but what? " Richard thought , suddenly

"Francis can give me some time."

"Richard you know this scene had been shot for last two days, if we can't finish it by today we will go behind schedule."

"I know just give me sometime, Francis."

"huh...fine... 20 minutes break everyone."

Francis was right the smooth Shooting finally hit a rock, this seemingly easy scene became astonishingly hard to shoot. There is saying when misfortune fall upon, it falls hard. Every time, a problem might occur when shooting this scene.

Props shortage , Small accident , camera breakdown and worse actors can't get in the sate. That's the most horrible problem when shooting a important scene, even horrible when actor supposed to act can't any more, Specially when kids are involved.

That's what happened in this case, Richard finally hit a wall prompting him to not act properly, on the other-hand the kid playing the ghost got so sick, that i caused her to live the film causing the film to be delayed for the new member.

But this problems are solvable but what is not is Richards acting which made the shooting even more sluggish.

Richard went to a another room and sat at a corner frustrated.

The shot just now was good infact it can even be used in the final cut. But the shot is incomplete, it still missing a edge and he still couldn't figure it out which is making him frustrated.

Still deep in thought Richard didn't see some one sitting beside him.

"You know its okay to be sad." a voice broke his thoughts.

"What" he said looking a the girl infront of him.

"I said its okay to be sad" replied Drew.

Drew Barrymore got the role of the girl after previous one left. This role was originally made for her, but as she already busy with another film later fall in other girls hand.

Later when the role was open again she took it as the film she was working on later was cancelled midway due to unspecified reason.

"Thanks Drew, but I still can't figure it out, its not my acting have problem, it just doesn't match perfectly with the character.

I just kept thinking and thinking about the way match it perfectly but I just can't.

I just can't find it.

It seems like a thin glass is separating me from the character." wined Ric after hesitating for a bit and felt really light after putting everything out.

Hearing everything Drew laughed hard her eyes stared to get watered, seeing her laughing like Ric got dumb folded for a moment than join the with her.

After laughing for a while they fixed themselves then

"Whats so funny?" said Ric pretending to be annoyed.

"You. Its the first time l have seen you looked so, clueless.

You always have that self confidence, always know what to do, what not to do but seeing you like this really funny. " explains Drew sweetly

"ha ha ha very very funny." giving a obvious sarcasm.

"Sorry, What I want to say that people makes mistake

you know what mom said to me kids job is make mistake, so that they can learn from them." said Drew happily.

"You like your mother a lot don't you"

"I love my mom, but i wish my parents stop fighting, they are fighting a lot lately." said Drew sadly.

"Don't worry everything will be fine, I think they are just having different opinions that's all. As long as their are feelings everything will be fine. " consoled Ric while giving her one armed hug.

"That's right feelings are important" declared Drew while standing with a happy mood again.

"Feelings.... hmmm.... feelings!! that's right Feelings!!!!" jumped Ric

"Drew you are a genius" laughed Ric excitedly while hugging her.

"What...what did I do" confused drew asked

"It solved , the problem is solved. I finally found the missing piece of the puzzle." replied still excited.

Hearing him she became also excited clapped while hopping.

"Lets go finish this scene once and for all." declared Ric

"Yes lets go..." mimicked Drew.

{A/N: Seriously imaging the entire conversation between two 8 year olds, will really weird you out. }

Its such a coincidence that when they came back to the set everyone was making preparations indicating 20 minute break was over.

For the last time the shot was taken again,

Cole remembering Cowre's advice he hardens his face with determination and slowly come out of the couch and walked slowly step by step towards the red sheet covering the silhouette.

He stopped it front of it and slowly reached out his hand towards the red sheet. His hand paused front of the sheet for a moment before he pulled the sheet.

The same girl was reviled, they looked at each other, one was blank but the other terrified but determined. A cold but eerie silence permeate in the air.

"I am feeling better now" the ghost girl says braking the silence.

"Ca...can I help you with something." said Cole hesitating a little.

"Cut." shouted Coppola.

Everyone looked at Director Coppola , he frowned like last time then he clapped his hand

"Excellent . This scene is over" he announced.

Everyone, including Ric, breathed a sigh of relief then they celebrated by clapped hard.

This scene is finally over without any problem and they are relived from it.

The film got back on its tack again after this incident, without any other major problem and on February 10 the final shooting took place,

Due to Coppola finishing Al Pacino's shot first, Richards last shot will be last shooting of the film.

The scene is about the Cole confessing to his mother about his gift.

Sitting on the front seat of the car Cole suddenly said

"Grandma comes to visit me sometimes."

Lynn sitting on the drivers seat becomes still. Her face is unreadable. When she speaks, her words are extremely controlled. Holding the staring wheel hard

"Cole, that's very wrong. Grandma's gone. You know that."

"I know."

Silence permeate for a moment

"She wanted me to tell you--" .

"Cole, please stop." Lynn interrupted

"She wanted me to tell you, she saw you dance." replied Cole hurriedly but strongly

Lynn's eyes lock on Cole's. Cole continues this time softly,

"She said when you were little, you and her had a fight right before your dance recital. You thought she didn't come to see you dance. She did.

Lynn brings her hands to her mouth.

"She hid in the back so you wouldn't see..." Cole paused "She said you were like an angel."

Lynn begins to cry.

"She said, you came to her where they buried her."Asked her a question..."

Cole wet his lips, his voice raspy "She said the answer is "Everyday.""

Lynn covers her face with her hands. The tears roll out through her fingers.

Cole whispers "What did you ask?"

Lynn looks at her son. She barely gets the words out.

"Do I make her proud?"

Cole moves closer to Lynn. She cradles him in her arms. Mother and son hold each other tight.

"Cut! and perfect" Coppola said with a smile.

" Look Ric what you did to me." Jodie laughed while wiping her tear.

"Oh pretty lady I am so sorry. How can I rectify this mistake " joked Ric

"How about lunch tomorrow."

"Deal."

Over the course of the filming Jodie and Ric created a very good bond. As they had a very good connection from the start, they had a very unique chemistry when they were rivaling in the film.

Their unique charm can also be seen during screen sharing moments in the film.
