A Cute Child and A Tragic Backstory

I woke up because of a surge of pain rushing throughout my body. I started hyperventilating, and Goro rushed to my side saying, "You're awake! Hey, what's wrong!?" It took me a bit, but I was able to say through clenched teeth, "It hurts..." Goro called Akio and she rushed over. She touched my belly and shouted, "It's coming!"

With my eyes barely open, I saw Hinata rush over and asked Goro, "Papa! Will he be ok?" Goro held her hand and led her out of the room saying, "He'll be fine. He's Yukio after all." Akio said, "We need an expert on something like this..." With no hesitation, Goro said, "I helped Hinata's mother give birth to her. It shouldn't be that hard with a kitsune hybrid, right?"

Akio smiled and said, "You're a very good caretaker, Goro. I'll leave it to you then!" She walked out of the room, informing Jiro and Hinata what was happening. I heard Jiro scream, "Whaaat!? W-Will he be ok?" Hinata hugged Jiro and said, "He will be ok. He's Yukio after all!" I heard Jiro sigh and say, "You don't know Yukio and the troubles he's been through. I'll tell you about it later."

Goro said, "I've never heard Jiro sound so serious before. He really is a caring friend, huh?" I nodded, and another spasm of pain made me scream. I heard Goro take a deep breath, and he started rubbing my belly. It soothed the pain, and I felt something open up. With a very soft tone, he said, "You're ok Yukio. Now push the baby out. Slowly."

I did as he told me, and I felt Goro pulling something out of me. I winced a bit, but Goro held one of my tails to keep me from squirming. I opened one of my eyes to see Goro tearing up. He let go of my tail to wipe the tears away, and said, "Ah... I'm sorry for being such a crybaby. It's over now." I gave him a thumbs up, and he started crying.

"Oh Yukio. Why does it always have to be you? It's like luck hates you or something." I looked away, knowing that it was the truth. I am a person with serious bad luck. "A-anyway..." Goro continued, "I think it's a girl. Do you want to see her?" I slowly nodded, and Goro picked up the small kitsune and gave her to me. I stared at her for a while, thinking that this baby grew this size inside of me in three days. It seemed like my body moved on my own, and I licked her forehead. She cooed and I smiled. Goro asked me, "What are you going to name her?" I looked at the baby's tails and noticed that she had white tips on each tail.

"Miyuki." I said that name to her. She looked at me and giggled. "Miyuki? That's kind of cheesy considering both of your names have "snow" in them. It's cute though." Goro said after laughing. I gently hugged the small child and said, "It doesn't make sense anymore. I'm going to be called mom and I'm not even a girl." Goro laughed more and said, "Yeah... none of this makes sense."

Akio walked in and asked, "Done yet?" She looked at Miyuki and gasped. She rushed over to look at her tails and said, "This is even greater than I thought! You have both black and white kitsune genes! This means you're royalty!" Goro's mouth was opened wide and I said, "That's just great. First I have a baby, and now I'm a royal kitsune? What next?"

Luckily, nothing happened next until that night. I remembered Jiro talking about how he's going to tell my backstory, so I hid in the bushes of our territory to listen what Jiro said. "His bad luck all started one night when Yukio was still young. He stayed at home while his parents went out to drink. He didn't know what happened until the other humans told him."

"His parents were walking home, but they were drunk, so they couldn't run without tripping. Then a man came up to them, wanting to steal their money. Yukio's father refused, saying go away. The man didn't listen, and he killed them in cold blood. He was locked away, but the other humans couldn't save Yukio's parents."

"Yukio had to live alone for almost his entire life. When he got to middle school, he met Goro and I. Goro would come to his house to keep him company, or to take care of him. Eventually, he became more social with everyone, but he was still very sad. When we got to high school, we met a girl named Anzu. She loves Yukio, so she took the role as his sister."

"We've been keeping Yukio happy, but there was something missing his his life. His parents never showed him affection, and he really needed it. Especially after his parents died. When he met Akio, Goro and I felt like there was hope." Goro nodded and said, "And we got that. From you and this world. I haven't seem him smile like he does now in years."

Hinata looked down and said, "I had no idea that Yukio was that sad." Akio smiled and said, "I'm glad that you took care of him. Usually people just want kitsunes for royalty or something." I smiled, realizing that Goro was telling the truth. I actually felt... excited to be in this world with new experiences. "I sure hope that Yukio is listening right now!" Goro said loudly, glancing at my hiding spot.

Hinata tilted her head and Jiro touched Goro's forehead. "You're not sick, are you Goro?" Jiro asked. Everyone laughed and I rushed back to the cabin they built for Miyuki and I. When I looked at my child, I saw my younger self. I walked over to her and said, "I will never leave you alone, Miyuki." I kissed her forehead and walked to my bed. I hopped onto it and drifted to sleep.
