When There Is Light In Darkness

I looked around. There was not a speck of light in sight, but I could see myself. I tried to move around, but my body felt numb. I remembered this feeling, and realized that I was in the Dream World once again. I tried to think of something, but nothing came up. I tried to move again, but I couldn't feel myself move. I was trapped here.

When I thought all hope was lost, I saw a small white paw reaching out to me. It touched my face, then it pulled on my hair. I didn't feel anything, but then I saw three more paws pop up. Then the legs and the body. Then the tail and the ears. Then a cat face appeared. The cat had a black tail and black ears with amazing blue eyes.

Then a pair of white and blue wings appeared, and a white light filled the darkness around me. The cat said, "You must wake up, Yukio. You have a destiny to look forward to, so I'm counting on you." I tried to ask him something, but no words came out. He said, "I will not tell you about myself just yet. But I will tell you where I come from." He sighed, then he said, "I'm from the wastelands of what was once your modern society. I live in a place called Cat City."

My eyes widened. The whole world except for Japan got destroyed by acid from nuclear power plants that once existed in Russia. The cat said, "It's not just me. There's a whole bunch of animals that still exist within the wasteland and beyond." I couldn't believe this cat. Especially because he's not talking to me telepathically.

The cat lowered his head and said, "You need to wake up now. Your friends and mates are waiting for you." Then the cat disappeared, and there was only darkness once again. I closed my eyes, and I woke up in a broken cage. There was a dim light, and everything looked red. In front of me was a cell with a sleeping bear cub inside.

I walked out of the cage, and there was a staircase to my left. I looked to my right, and there were tons of other cages with sleeping animals inside. Most of them were children, and some of them were teens. I walked further down to the right, and I saw a whelp at the end of the hall of cells. He looked a lot like King, so I bent the rusted bars and walked to the whelp.

I shook him awake, and he ran to the corner of the cage. I said, "Wait wait! I know your father! I'm going to get you out of here." He understood and he flew and landed on my head. I opened the other cages and woke up the other animals, and they all followed me up the stairs. There was a sleeping guard in front of one of the doors.

The bear cub snuck up to the guard and chopped his neck. The guard fell on the floor, and I peeked through a crack in the door. Kurai was sitting in a throne made from rose thorns and petals, and the whole room was blood red. Then there was an explosion. Sai, Ren, Akio, Goro, Jiro, and Hinata busted into the room, and Goro shouted, "Where's Yukio!?"

Kurai did her sinister laugh and said, "He's asleep and he will be asleep even past the end of time itself!" Sai tried to run to one of the doors, but a guard hopped in the was and Kurai shouted, "You can never find him! Now you have to face me!" One of the sparrow chicks near me chirped in anger, and a skunk kit quickly covered her mouth.

Kurai looked our direction and snapped her fingers. She waited for some time, then she told the guard in front of Sai, "Check on him." I murmured to the animals, "Get ready to attack." I turned into a kitsune, and the guard slowly opened the door. "Ready? Go!"
