Chapter Twenty-nine

~🖤~

I was now on my way to East Renton Highlands, that too in a helicopter.

According to Ace, the resources of the James Softwares belonged equally to him, as to Heath and Rose. Their father had given them, equal shares of the company.

Anyway, Anna had helped me to pack my bags with some clothes in just 30 mins.

It was ridiculous, as I was sitting in a luxurious helicopter in a hoodie and jeans. No gear, whatsover.

But that was my least of concerns.

I barely registered the interior of the helicopter, or the fact that someone was strapping me tightly, as my nerves and anxiety was all over the place.

I admit, I was bubbling with hope, after hearing Ace's words, but still, it was hope, that hurt me the most.

After, five hours of a nerve wracking flight, we finally descended on the helipad on top of the James Softwares.

It was quite big and a hint of cold in the atmosphere. The night was bright, everything clear and beautiful. The wind was fast, which nearly restricted my tight messy bun.

"Ma'am, Mr. Macenth said of your arrival. Mr. Heath is on the next building alongside this."

I looked over to the guard and nodded.

He led my way to the elevator which led me to the adjoining lobby downstairs with the other building, that is what he said.

"Does anyone else know my arrival?" I asked after a while.

I had told Ace to keep my arrival a secret, except to a few, whom I didn't know.

The guard proudly stated, "No Ma'am. The information was only given to me and a few guards."

"Who are you?" I asked him, cause I strongly believed he was someone more than a guard.

"Ma'am, I am Mr. Macenth's PA. Taylor Hart."

I shook hands with him, confidently. Positive vibes radiated from him and I knew, he was good in his work.

Taylor was quite old, who could simply pass as close to my father. And I respected him, the minute I saw him.

And, for once, I was not having any problems, interacting.

We reached the lobby and started towards the elevator that was adjoining to the other building.

I turned towards Taylor, before crossing the lobby.

"I'll be going alone. I don't think, there will be any problem."

He smiled at me, his eyes crinkling in thr corners. I returned his smiled, assuring him.

"Ok, Ma'am." He nodded and waited, for me cross the lobby, to another elevator.

"Call me Calli, Taylor."I yelled at him, as I took fast steps to the other elevator.

Waving at him, I caught his smile, just before I entered the elevator.

But before, the elevator door could close, a foot, interrupted the doors to be closed.

"Leaving me behind?"

My eyes nearly popped out of my sockets and surely thought, my ears had some defect.

"Alex?" I asked, hesitantly.

He laughed, mockingly, "Nope. I am a Demon."

I laughed with him and hugged him, as the elevator door closed behind him.

We chatted all up to the 45th floor, the office to Heath.

Suddenly, the lift stopped, which I assumed was the 37th floor.

"Let's chat, sweetheart."

My gaze jumped to Alex and his hand, that stopped the lift.

"Huh?" I asked, frowning.

His aged, somewhat wrinkled handsome face turned into a sadistic smirk. He laughed, maniacally.

I shifted from my feet to the right, to catch him off-guard and press the button.

I could tell, I was not in the best of situation. Blame it on my instincts.

But, he swiftly, twisted my arm, pinning me against the elevator wall, my cheeks tightly pressed against it.

For a forty-year old man, he sure had some strength.

"What?!" I hissed, trying to kick him backwards, but he trapped my movements, with his knee and foot.

"You killed my brother." He growled.

I froze.

"Br-Brother?" I frowned, still trying to fight him, but he resisted all my movements.

"Xavier Ryder."

My confusion was clear, "But how?"

He laughed, "My step brother. That's why the surnames don't match."

I heartbeat was increasing, a little panic rising in, but I somehow calmed myself down.

I had to play this, coolly.

Then I remembered some distant words. And without meaning to, I voiced them.

"Well, I already own your half of the company and now, I want the James Softwares."

"Yes. He owned." He grinned, evilly.

It was shockingly to see suck a family man, a caring boss like this.

"Why are you doing this Alex? Does your family know?" I asked him, frowning.

"I don't care about my family. But Xavier was my small brother and we wanted James Softwares. I will fulfill his legacy."

"Which means, you killed my parents." I hissed, then added lowly, "If you had known all this while, why didn't you kill me?"

He laughed sadistically, which boiledy blood.

My veins throbbed to hurt him, the man whom I thought was good, but was evil.

"We were waiting for the right moment. All of you together. Kidnapping, blackmailing... I'm the Unknown."

"You bastard!" I yelled suddenly, pinning him against the spot, I was moments ago.

I kicked him in the jaw and then at his groin.

My rage was building so much, along with the sadness and frustration, I punched him continuously in his stomach, until I became satisfied of his broken ribcage.

He fell to the ground, unconscious.

Before, I could pick him up, to punch him further, pain surged through my body.

I touched my stomach with my fingertips, almost timidly and felt the warm blood, oozing.

My face paled, my eyes full of horror as I realised he had shot me with a silencer.

As if I couldn't believe, I looked to the unconscious body.

Indeed, there was a silencer gun, at his hand, limp.

Thoughts raced into my mind, as, I felt the dizziness.

I had finally finished our rival.

But could I live? Would I see my family, Heath and Lia anytime, again?

Were the security here?

Did Heath know I was in danger? I was going to die?

Within the seconds, I thought these dreadful facts, or rather unknown future, i felt limp on the floor.

My eyes shut, a small smile on my lips.

I blackened out.

***

Heath:

"Sir!"

I looked up to see Ace's PA running to my office, slamming the door harshly.

"What?" I asked, tired.

My head was killing me. I wanted to smoke, to drink. But Ace has made me promise that if I controlled myself, he would bring Calli.

I loved her so much, because she held that fire inside her.

And I somehow knew, only because of that fire, she wouldn't forgive me ever.

I didn't expect her to.

She had saved my sister, she loved me, maybe still loves and she was raped. But I ignored all that, and insulted her, blamed her.

I didn't deserve her.

I couldn't even convey how I felt and that was killing me.

"The lift has stopped working." He said, frantically.

"So fix them." I answered, rubbing my temples, groaning.

"You don't understand!" He shook his head, almost dislocating it.

I respected Taylor, but I was his boss.

"Damn god, Taylor!" I tugged at my hair and then sighed, "Just fix it."

"We have already opened them." He sighed, taking deep breaths.

But then what he added, made me run to the elevator.

"Calli has been shot!" He yelled, slamming his fist.

I was already halfway to the elevator and there indeed was Alex and Callista lying.

Medics were already taking them on the stretchers.

"How?" I whisper yelled.

"Mr. Alexander shot him." Taylor spoke from behind me, grimly.

"Is she alive?" I asked, tugging at my hair furiously.

Tears formed in my eyes but refused to fall.

I couldn't lose her, when I knew I was getting her back. I love her so much that I felt her pain.

"Yes."

Taylor's strong voice gavee some reassurance, as I watched the Medics take Calli away.

I wouldn't lose her.

She's my Precious.

"Why was I informed so late?" I yelled at Taylor, at everyone.

But I didn't wait to take answers from their fear-stricken face.

I jumped in the ambulance, with the Medics, and held her hand tightly.

Tears flowed down my cheeks, her warmth spreading through my body.

It gave me the hope, that we would make it.

She would be beside me.

I wouldn't lose her.

"Sir, who are you related to her?"

I looked up at the nurse, looking dead in the eyes and whispered.

"Her fiance."
