Chapter 37 - Welcome Princess Aegis

Reiki performed additional tests on baby Aegis in the grand bedroom just to ensure that she had suffered no unseen complications from being incubated for such a short time.

"She's perfectly fine," Reiki informed as she held Aegis in her arms after deactivating her clairvoyant power, "everything is in place."

Lancelot and Urusla took a loving glance at each other after hearing this then looked at the peacefully sleeping Aegis, unable to resist the urge to smile brightly, their daughter was truly a blessing to them…for a different reason each.

"Now then," Urusla broke the joyous silence as she carefully took Aegis back from Reiki, "shall we announce our princess to the kingdom?"

"Excuse me my queen but," Reiki respectfully answered the question that wasn't particularly aimed at her, "I don't think that's a *ahhhhhhh-hhaaaaaa* good idea…"

That elaborate yawn surprised Urusla and Lancelot both as they caringly questioned Reiki's sleeping habits.

"Oh… haha sorry," She replied as she wiped the tear that leaked due to her excessive yawning, "my clairvoyance has started evolving so I've been trying to control it, hence me not getting…*ahhhhh-hhaaaa*…enough sleep."

The couple had their mouths rounded in understanding, had Reiki not explained her sleep issue, they may not have noticed the subtle black bags that were forming under her eyes.

"And you already deprive yourself of a lot of sleep as is, we'll relieve of your duties and find a new fairy until you get this under control." Lancelot stated, Urusla nodding in agreement.

Reiki bowed as she rose from the chair she was seated on, "I thank you for your concern, but if you relieve me from my duties then it will take longer for me to gain control of my abilities, so please let me continue as a doctor."

Lancelot stroked his beard for a while before nodding with a smile, giving Reiki permission to continue doing medicine.

She smiled and bowed once more then began flapping her wings gently, lifting her slightly off the ground before she hovered away, finally able to put her look of exhaustion on full display.

As Reiki left the sight of the royal couple, Urusla rose from her seat next to Lancelot, waking towards a beautiful cradle in the corner of the room, made from gold stained wood with many carvings of dragons along with the insignia of the Tenshu Province: a mountain-looking dragon coiling around a hammer in the centre of a circle, signifying high respect to the earth dragon Daichi.

"Every time I see that insignia I feel like a king," Daichi joked, at which Lancelot laughed inwardly.

"So back to my question to you," Urusla said as she laid Aegis down in the cradle, "when will we announce her birth?"

Lancelot cocked an eyebrow at the persistence at which Urusla was asking this, "Well my love, she has only been here for less than two days so I suggest we announce her in a week's time, during that period we can make arrangements."

Urusla felt somewhat irritated by the delay but was careful enough to to let it show on her face, in order not to raise any suspicions, instead she just smiled, "Okay, anything you say."

That night, Urusla woke up while the entire kingdom was still asleep. She quickly removed her night gown, replacing it with a randomly taken robe and set out silently.

There were absolutely no guards stationed near the castle as they were all on watch at the kingdom wall, this gave Urusla the opportunity to slip outside without being seen. After running down the spiraling stairs leading from the grand bedroom, she soon exited the castle through the main entrance.

She slowed her pace down to a slight jog in the direction of the East castle town, where she met a man… moreover, a demon leaning on the wall of a building, with his long horns sticking through his spikey red hair and his demon eyes shining ominously through the night as he smiled, noticing Urusla jogging towards him.

"I was wondering when you'll be here," he said with a tinge of arrogance in his voice.

As Urusla approached him, he leaned in for what seemed like a kiss when he stopped by a punch from Urusla who was fuming with rage, "Why aren't you disguised, Karu?!"

The demon slightly laughed as the blood that ran from his nose dissipated, "I don't see why we can't start the uprising now, that's all."

That comment pushed Urusla's anger to the peak; she immediately grabbed Karu's horns and snapped them off, he widened his eyes in surprise at this but as soon as the horns were detached from his head, they were soon reunited with his body as they were plunged into his stomach, blood began to pour from his mouth.

"You imbecile!" A demonic change took place in Urusla's voice as her demon form began to reveal itself due to her rage, "you'll have to wait another eighteen years before the uprising can start, so if you're already impatient I can just kill you here!"

Karu felt the deadly pressure Urusla was emitting and broke out in a cold sweat, the horns plunged in his stomach were greatly hindering his healing process so he had no choice but to comply, apologizing as his eyes took the form of a human's.

Urusla sneered at him and pulled the horns out violently, "Good. Now, the king will announce the birth of the vessel in a week's time, that should serve as proof to calm the demons hidden in the kingdom, tell that to your friends."

The demon nodded submissively as his wounds had finally healed, "Y-Yes my queen."

Urusla gave him his horns back as she gave him a small peck on the lips and moved to his ear, whispering, "be patient, you'll soon get to be inside me again,"

Karu smiled as he heard this but was instantly shaken back into submission when Urusla grabbed his throat, "But if you go out of line again, your stomach won't be the only thing I pierce, okay?"

Karu nodded and ran away from Urusla in fearful understanding, leaving her out in the night alone.

"Dammit, now I've got to take care of this again!" she inwardly cursed as she snapped off her horns, disguised her eyes and went to destroy the evidence, all without being seen once.

A week smoothly passed by, Urusla hasn't met with any other demons during this time and the day of the announcement ceremony had arrived.

Dressed in magnificent royal robes, the couple stepped out on the highest balcony of the castle, overseeing a large, silent crowd beneath them in the castle square.

Reiki was not present in the castle today so Aegis was resting in Urusla's arms.

"Residents of the Tenshu Province!" Lancelot began, "I am proud to present to you all, my daughter, and the princess of Tenshu, Aegis Orametan!"

Urusla lifted the baby up for everyone to see and the entire kingdom erupted in an uproar, servant brought out a wide variety of food and wine for a large celebration to commence.
