Close My Eyes (Part 2)

Hours later, the rushing of the thunderstorms awoke the sleeping beauty, once again. While she did not exactly feel like herself yet, she didn't feel terrible anymore, at least, not like she did earlier. Migraines were never fun. Major barometric changes could trigger them, which was likely the case, today. She turns her computer around and sees how much time had gone by. Her light sensitivity are not as harsh as earlier.

Violet's clothes were soaked wet with sweat and her skin felt clammy. "Gross." She said out loud as she realizes she needs a shower. She climbs out of bed and stumbles to the bathroom. When she gets there she strips off her clothes and gets the water temperature where she wants it. She gets in and just took it as the water nearly burned her skin.

The massage setting on the shower head beads out the hot water at high speed. She lets it rain down on her lower back, and then takes a step backwards, the pounding wet heat rose up her back until it was striking between her shoulder blades.

Violet takes another half step back and there it is, the spot. The red hot water splashed down on her neck in a massaging pulse. It was certainly a relief, on this day, with her own body and brain turning against her. It was not something she learned to live with, it was something she learned to live in spite of.

Violet turns off the shower and puts on her old Care Bear robe. It was bought for her when she was 11, the robe hung down around her shins then. It was a foot higher now, shorter than some of her skirts, at least five inches above the knee. She then takes some more Motrin and drinks another glass of water.

Violet eventually finds her way downstairs for some food, the nausea dissipated durning sleep as well, she now felt ravenous. She makes herself a bowl of Cap'n Crunch and turns on TV. Daytime TV is always dreadful. The unemployment compensation commercials, alone, were enough to make a person go crazy. Especially if you happen to be unemployed. It starts to bother her, a lot. She wants a job, so she can fix her phone, and eventually, her car.

She feels poor, lonely, and in need of no longer being either. She leaves the TV on and goes upstairs to get her computer. After setting it up on her lap, she remakes her resume. While it doesn't take long to redesign, it was only filled with some basic high school employment, summer jobs, and some volunteer work at her mom's church, before that. It was just enough to fill a page, double spaced.

Violet takes the resume to monster and career builder, uploads it, and posts her interest in a few positions. She even makes a LinkedIn account. There were tons of "Entry Level Marketing" positions, all of which will train on the job.

Finally, after hours on those sites, she heads back to Craigslist. "Models wanted" was still this enticing set of words. "All you had to do is stand there and look good, right? Yeah right! For $650 a day, I'll probably have to suck somebody's dick." she said aloud.

"$700-1500 per day for erotic art"

"What's this?" She questions as her eyes bulge from her head as dreams of a happy life float before her eyes. There was a phone number. "What would happen if she called it? It's after 6pm, they must have all left for the day."

Her heart beat fast and her cheeks blush as she dials. It rings. As it rings again, someone picks up, on the other end. "Thank you for calling Four Suits Entertainment, this is Nick Hamilton speaking, how can I help you?" The voice was obviously that of an older gentleman on the other end. He sounds very professional to Violet, she was expecting to hear the voice of Jabba the Hutt, or his smarmy underling. "Hello, My name is Violet. I am calling in reference to your Craigslist ad about erotic art. Is this the right number?"

"That's correct. We have been seeking new and existing actresses to come in for some experimental scenarios." Nick gave the elevator pitch to try and hook her interest. First there is a Q&A session, clothed, but filmed. Then there is the solo part, and if you are interested, we can also do a scene together." Nick explains it to her in a way she understood, and further, she is kind of looking forward to it, if the truth of the situation were to be told. Especially when he asks, "Have you ever taken a bath in rainbows before?"

Violet could hear the confidence in Nick's voice, she likes it, but felt he hit a wall, neither of them were expecting. "Yeah, last week."

Nick stumbles over his next few words, he is flabbergasted in a way he didn't known was even possible. Did she have access to the same rainbow sheeting for glass? "How so? Please explain?"

She panics a little, inside, being put on the spot like this, but she thought about losing that $1500. "Well, I like rainbows," She went into the story about how she left her ex's place and then drove to be in a sun shower that caused what seemed like a rainbow fountain, all around her.

Nick felt stumped and scrambles to keep from there being a long pause in the conversation. "Wow, I had pride myself in offering what I thought is a unique experience." He felt like his best pickup line, told perfectly, didn't work. Nick becomes intrigued by Violet.

"The rest of your experience won't be so flaccid, will it?" Nick was almost hurt, but he wants to laugh at the same time. If she had said it to someone else, he would have laughed.

"Wait, I see what you did there." he said, "One of the requirements to make it past the phone interview, was going to be to tell me a dirty joke. Guess we can check that off." He plays that off well enough, showing he could take it in stride at least.

Violet goes on to ask if that means she is on to the next stage, the in person interview. Nick was amused by this, he felt outwitted by an 18 year old. He wouldn't let it happen again, if he could help it. Yet, this intrigue led him to believe he had to meet her. He didn't know what it was exactly, but there was something about her that Nick liked already.

Violet made sure to confirm all the numbers she was being promised to be paid, as well as times and dates for the meeting. "Let's see, today is Thursday... Let me look up the weather... OK, it won't be sunny in the morning again until..... Monday. So the meeting should be on Monday morning, at 5:45am. This would allow time for a change of clothes, and if needed, a chance to go over paperwork, so as to process all of your legal credentials. Does that work for you?"

Violet gave an affirmative. Nick then went into the importance of her ID being correct, as well as how it's not a great look to be late, no matter how pretty she may be. Violet said she would keep all of that in mind, come Monday morning and thanks Nick for this opportunity, before saying her goodbye's.

"Oh, one last thing, can you get a clean bill of health from a doctor or clinic, it's an obvious stipulation as you can imagine? Even my own is on file." Nick affirms.

"OK, I'll find a way to take care to f that." Violet says, with uncertainty.

Nick assumes she will be one of many no-shows, but, he couldn't get her voice out of his head.
