He squinted with beautiful yet devilish eyes, equal parts charming and seductive.
Gong Siyu shook his head. He understood it but he pretended not to, wanting to hear Ji Younai say a few more words.
"Ah! How should I put it? Well..."
Scratching her ears, Ji Younai looked annoyed.
She was just about to explain it to Gong Siyu again but was alarmed to see a nurse walking over!
Her expression quickly changed, and she grabbed a bunch of flowers, which she then pressed against her head. She started laughing at the nurse like a lunatic, babbling, "I'm a fairy! The fairy is me! You unruly peasants! Now that you've seen me, hurry and get lost!"
Seeing how insane Ji Younai's behavior was, the nurse chided her with disdain, "Behave yourself! Or you'll be taught a lesson! Stinking idiot."
As soon as the nurse scolded her, Ji Younai immediately pretended to be good and obedient.
She only started behaving normally again after making sure the nurse had walked away.
She took the flowers that she had crushed away from her head and looked sideways at the glum-looking Gong Siyu. She thought that he was going to reprimand the nurse and hurriedly waved her hands to stop him.
"It's okay, ignore that nurse," she paused and continued, "I call this the rule of survival in an asylum." Ji Younai let out a ragged breath and lowered her head in dejection.
"When I was first brought here, I cried every day and yelled that I'm not odd. Those wretched doctors would tie me up, give me injections, and put me through electrocution treatments. That feeling is worse than death... At night, there would be all kinds of vengeful evil spirits popping up to scare me, but no one believed me. They all thought I was insane. Later, I got smart and learned that I have to continue acting like a lunatic in order to live more comfortably."
While speaking, Ji Younai's throat became a little sore and her eyes bloodshot.
"I don't want to talk to you anymore. You're just like them. You won't believe me."
Somehow, Gong Siyu's heart was filled with pain, reaching his hand out to stroke Ji Younai's messy hair gently.
"I'm not like them. I believe what you say," he coaxed her in a gentle and attractive voice. His tone at the end was mesmerizing.
Ji Younai was slightly stunned to hear that. She looked into Gong Siyu's deep, dark and narrow eyes in disbelief.
"You believe me? Do you believe that I can see ghosts?"
She didn't believe it at all. So far, no normal person had believed her! No one believed her except for a few mentally unsound patients who had been sent to the asylum because they could also see ghosts!
He couldn't help but touch Ji Younai's head, followed by the tip of her nose.
"I have a childhood friend whose surname is 'Feng'. I've been hanging out with him ever since I was a child. I've been exposed to things like Feng Shui and evil. I know that there is a portion of people in this world who have a third eye that allows them to see ghosts."
She looked at Gong Siyu with tears in her eyes, as if he were her kin. It was a wonderful thing to have gained someone else's trust.
"You're a good person," she sniffled.
Without hesitation, Gong Siyu pulled out a checkered handkerchief from the pocket of his suit, offering her, "You may wipe your mucus with my handkerchief.
"Your handkerchief is nice. It's dirty now, so why don't you give it to me?"
All of a sudden, Gong Siyu smiled in a handsome manner, no anger present.
"Sure, you can have it."
Ji Younai felt that the man next to her had dignified mannerisms.
His injuries had healed, making her even more certain that he had a handsome face that was even more tender than a woman's.
However, she could vaguely sense the menacing aura around Gong Siyu, which he was intentionally trying to hide.
It was as if he had deliberately acted affectionately, like her kin, because of her. He was gentle, refined, and gentlemanly.
"By the way, why are you here?"
"I'm here to take you away."
Her beautiful eyes were filled with shock at his answer.
However, before Ji Younai could say anything, the nurse in charge of guarding her arrived.
Activity time was over, and she was brought back to her ward.
Looking at the resentful gaze in Ji Younai's eyes when she was looking at him, Gong Siyu felt rather displeased.
-
Director Chen rushed over with sweat all over his forehead.
Gong Siyu was leaning against the sofa in the director's office when he arrived.
Seeing Director Chen, he slowly stood up, giving off a cold and off-putting vibe that was similar to that of a king. He immediately caused the atmosphere of the entire office to become suffocating.
"I'm asking you for a patient. I want to take her away."
Director Chen seemed to be stuck in a dilemma. Before he could even say anything, however, Gong Siyu spoke again.
"I'm just here to inform you. I don't need your approval. I'm taking her away for sure."
Director Chen acted like he was talking to his ancestor, speaking in a deferential tone. Despite being in a dilemma, he couldn't stop Gong Siyu at all.
Gong Siyu headed to Ji Younai's ward.
The ward was a six-bedder. It was a terrible environment, terrible and chaotic.
Seeing that Ji Younai was pretending to be insane again, he laughed and stepped forward.
"Pack your things, we're leaving."
Ji Younai had been admitted to the asylum without any items of her own, so there was nothing to pack.
"Um... I've thought about it and decided not to leave with you."
There were no nurses or doctors in the ward, so Ji Younai was laying on the shabby bed when she declined him straightforwardly.
He raised his brows in confusion and asked, "Why?"
"My aunt and her family have paid enough upfront for me to stay in this asylum for five years."
"That's all?" he asked, finding it incredulous.
"Putting aside the fact that the doctors here are psychotic, the hospital is actually quite good in terms of food and accommodation. I'm homeless and penniless. Even if I leave this place, I'll have no place to live. The patients here are all quite interesting, too. It's not a bad idea to stay in the grand scheme of things."
For the first time in his life, Gong Siyu had heard someone say that an asylum was a nice place to live in!
"You can stay at my place. It's large and there are many rooms."
That was his original plan anyway.
"That's not a good idea. You have a girlfriend, and she's bound to be upset. Besides, men and women are not the same."
She remembered that his girlfriend's last name seemed to be 'Wen'. She had left in Ms. Wen's clothes before, but those clothes were gone, and she could not return them.
Upon hearing her, Gong Siyu frowned and said, "Ji Younai, I don't have a girlfriend."
Glancing at Gong Siyu, Ji Younai shrugged her shoulders and made it clear that she wouldn't leave even if he did not have a girlfriend.
'But if he doesn't have a girlfriend, why does he have women's clothes at home?' she couldn't help but ponder.
"Well... I'm really happy that you're here to see me," she finally said, "Gong Siyu, I didn't save you for nothing. However, you'd better go. I've thought about it and I plan to stay here until I die. I don't have another way out anyway."
After saying that, Ji Younai dejectedly covered her face with a blanket and stopped looking at Gong Siyu, asking him to leave.
She refused to leave because she was avoiding it all. She was running away from living and running away from reality.
She did not dare face the brutal death of her parents, her relentless and wretched aunt, or the danger filled world outside the asylum. Hence, she chose to hide here, escaping it all.
...
Bai Feiran was waiting outside the asylum for his Young Master to appear with Ji Younai.
In the end, Gong Siyu appeared alone, his vicious gaze frightening.
"She doesn't want to leave with me!"
Bai Feiran was shocked. He had not expected Ji Youran to refuse Gong Siyu in the end.
"In that case, Mr. Gong, you've already done everything you could. Ms. Ji is the one who doesn't want to leave, so you don't have to worry about it."
There was some indignation in Gong Siyu's eyes as he squinted slightly. When Bai Feiran opened the car door for him, he did not get inside the car, seeingly reluctant to leave.
As expected, Bai Feiran soon saw Gong Siyu's sinister and enchanting eyes give off a devilish charm, his lips curving upwards as he smiled.
He seemed to be devising a huge scheme, giving Bai Feiran a huge fright.
