3.) The Shit storm and Gleaming mansion

I made the jump, which was not as horrifying as I thought I saw the beach from the sky. From up here, it looks almost peaceful, but then upon closer inspection, something was going on down there a war. I have to wait 50 seconds before I deploy my parachute, right now I'm in freefall. I'm trying to float my way to the landing zone. From there, I would meet up with the rest of my team. The wind was going in my face, and I had hoped my gear stayed attached.

I could see troops in freefall with me, from the 82nd in the 101st dropping from their respective planes. It was almost time to deploy my parachute, the ground got closer, but I had to be calm. I could see a few of our men touching down. I knew Edward was too far up to join us so that he won't be touching down until at least 5 minutes later. Our rally point was a nearby city. Cherbourg, if I am not mistaken. I deployed my parachute.

I began going over the mission objectives in my head. Our mission as a platoon was to make sure the Germans never got reinforcement in the beaches. We had to make sure D-day succeeded in all fronts, or we could never be able to bring the war to a swift end. That's what they told us. I landed on The nearby Grass field I was grateful. Even if I am an enemy country, being in the air was for me not that bad, but I prefer the ground and a lot more. No, I was only about 2 to 3 miles away from the city. The beach was still so close; the guys at HQ knew our area Omaha was going to be the most problematic.

I was far pretty from the closest paratrooper. I saw someone hit the ground. I was hoping it was someone I knew; if not, I would have to be with them regardless. We needed to meet up with the group. Plus, it's safer to meet up with somebody than be behind enemy lines alone. When I got closer, I thought the person I saw was Jason. I hoped it was Jason. Tim would be a bigger problem for me, he never liked me, and I never cared. I ran to meet them. I don't think he saw me yet, but I begin to slow down once I was sure it was him. This gear was fuckin heavy, but I wasn't leaving it behind. The thing that got to me is that Jason and Ed would never seem to be bothered by carrying their gear everyone else was annoyed even the higher-ups. I think that it was just how much they were committed to this.

When I saw Jason, I damn near pissed myself but not from happiness from the fact there was a body in his hands. I almost let out of gasp, but I stopped myself. I didn't want to startle him, and he shoots me in a frenzy. I never saw a body before outside of my old man's funeral. It was a human body. The blood was all over the grass field, and it was all over Jason, and I was getting pretty close to him too. He hadn't noticed me yet, and I was grateful I was about 8 feet away at this point. I could see some of the heat leaving the ones he was freshly dead the problem was during my land, I never saw anyone.

Another problem is, why was there only one German body? Why not more? What unsettled me even more than just the body and blood was that I did not hear a gunshot at all. All of those wounds on him were clearly knife wounds. We taught always taught to go for the neck or any place that is center mass. Make it quick to make it clean, but the lacerations on him looked deliberate, slow, and missing the vitals.

My eyes never left the body, and it stuck with me for a few seconds. I tried to compose myself, but I couldn't, not yet anyway. All I could hope was that The German bastard was putting up a fight because if the man weren't, then this would have been torture.

There is blood on Jason's face.  Jason was around 6'2 and was taller than me by about 3 inches. He was 26 years old last I remembered and had was muscular. He had a thin physique, but he has layers in muscle. He towers over most people and his eyes with small like almonds he had brown skin and had a bit of a tan from being out in the sun we all did except Edward, of course, I don't know why he never tanned. He had short hair and a narrow nose with medium nostrils. He also had a boxed face with a cleft chin. He had full lips but never smiled, I don't even think I've ever seen his teeth, but from what I hear they're straight. The man I was looking at now could not have been Jason. Jason was stoic and gave off a peaceful demeanor, no matter how quiet he was. The man I was looking at looked more monster than man. Then finally got myself together and composed myself, I let out a cough and said, "Second Lieutenant Jason."

He turned around and not fast, which was weird to me, but slowly he then said, 'I was wondering when you were going to speak up.' His voice came off as slightly sarcastic with critical and calculating undertones with it. I then asked, "What happened to him?" He looked at the body then back at me and said, 'I caught him in the field he would've surely alerted everyone had I not dealt with him.' The story sounded like pure bullshit. "Is that why he's got all those wounds?" My voice was sounding cynical. He was now looking at me, his gaze only broken when he then turned to the corpse and said and callously 'he put up a fight.'

"I think I saw Edward land a little further into the grassland. Though I'm not sure." I said, changing the subject.

'We should hurry up and link up with a squad.'

He said I began to follow, but not before I took another look at the body. My biggest problem, something that I should've asked about, was that the man had no guns or a weapon. So how did he put up a fight with no weapon? Sure he could have fought hand to hand, but Jason was a great fighter he could've killed him without leaving this much of a mess. There was something very wrong with this situation, but I'd have to dismiss it right now. We have a war and an operation that needs to succeed. We were walking for about 10 minutes, and all I could think about was, why did I get paired up with Jason? He has been silent this entire time. It's a good thing we're getting close to the city. I would rather be in my first firefight or some kind of problem than to be alone with him.

For the first time in this life of mine, I would have preferred to be with Tim. I never killed a man or an animal, so seeing these things happen was on another level. We got closer to the area where we were supposed to cut the Germans off. I could already hear the gunfire breaking out. We saw the city; it was a small one, and we saw our allies fighting the Germans on the outskirts pushing in. What was interesting was that it looked like we had a fighting chance from here, but I knew this was too early to tell. I looked around to see if I could find any of my group, but I couldn't see any of our team.

Jason then told me to stay down; he'll scout ahead. I got to the ground, I knew we were on the outskirts of the Town Cherbourg, but I didn't feel too comfortable waiting for other guys. He then said, 'If I'm not back in ten minutes, you go to the closest area with our platoon. That's where we will all meet.' And with that, he was gone.

The town wasn't bad looking; it was pretty nice, it just happened to be caught in the middle of a war. I then took the time to think about what had happened, when I looked at the body and Jason I noticed something very off. Why was he covered in the blood of that man? I mean yes, he killed him but why be covered in the blood why not just kill him and hide the body. I would be sure to tell the Major about this he's going to want to know. I can't keep this information to myself; this is something that must be acknowledged. I just feel guilty because Jason was a friend and still is a friend I just hope he can forgive me.

The ten minutes had come and gone; I got to the building. They never came. The building was full of soldiers. Trying to see if I could find someone who would even know where my group was, but no one that was in my team was there. The building was a hotel of some sort; it wasn't big, mostly because the building was missing a lot of its top half, but it still had the base foundation it still gave us a chance to fire at the enemy below. I did my best to keep my head down. Were already just starting the operation, and a lot of the men on the ground were already wounded or dead. The medics trying to keep some of them together, one guy didn't even have an arm. I saw all the blood and chaos, and all I could do was stay calm. Something then interrupted my thoughts I saw something it flew right past my face before I could even form a new thought one I realized it was a grenade my first instinct was to pick it up and throw it. Before that could even happen, Somebody grabbed me what fool would do that? I then turned, and it was Edward? Why?

A soldier then picked it up and threw it, it blew up in the air, but we escaped the kill range, but it still shook a lot of the building, on top of that some of the windows that were still intact had shattered. The glass had to have hit someone. I armed my gun. I knew it was time to fight; I just wished I was more prepared. I saw another enemy grenade fly out and go off.

A tank came through, and that was the biggest problem right now was when that tank got a bead on this building, everyone in here was dead. Everyone through grenades, It did damage but not much. Then another grenade and hit the side of it. It was temporarily immobile, but for how long?

The top portion began to rotate, and it was targeting the top of the building. Edward then shouted 'Incoming!' everyone that could move hauled ass. The wounded were getting dragged out as fast as they could, a shot went off and missed us, but he tore through the left side of the building. Another came through, and this time the top half was collapsing. We were out of the top half in a matter of a few seconds. When it fired again, more of the top of the building was gone. It was too late for a lot of the men in that part of the building; some of them didn't even have a chance.

Edward, Jason, and I somehow managed to get out, but I couldn't find Tim. I scanned the area for Tim; it occurred to me he was never in the building with us. Where was he? The tank was still coming; they must have got it to move again. I had no idea Germans had this kind of technology. They didn't tell us about that behemoth. Its bullets were mowing down the men like crops we took what little cover we had and stayed put. I then noticed Tim; he was practically shouting over the battle, but I understood what he was saying.

'We'll be having tank support soon. We just have to stay down and hold out.'

That was the best news I heard today, the Germans were closing in on us in this building, and we didn't have much time we kept on putting up a fight, but I could honestly say I didn't do too much shooting I was too scared. I just did blind firing with the M1 Garand.

It seemed like forever, but the tank finally came. We didn't have many tanks, so it was great that the troops were able to punch through, but God knows any longer, and there would be nothing left. We cleared the area and let the two duke it out. Our tank fired on that damn behemoth, and it barely did any damage. There was still a difference in power. Our tanks couldn't take that kind of power from that German behemoth one hit from it, and it would be over. We would be back at square 1.

Their tank was heavily armed and had a machine gun on it, and its cannon was capable of leveling buildings in just a few shots. A group from the other platoon then came with a rocket launcher; they fired on the tank too. Within seconds the tank fell. We were far from out of the woods, but damn this was a start. The Germans still had machine guns in the buildings but weren't able to get to us thanks to our allies, keeping them distracted. Hopefully, they could hold on.

We had to get on the other side of the street, and we had to do a flanking maneuver. We had to bring this part of the beach under our control. Edward then said. 'Tim, Gabriel, see what you can do about that machine gun on the first floor at the neighboring building.'

We had to hurry across the street that had rocks and rubble of all kinds. We had sprint as quickly as we could while everyone drew fire to cause a distraction. We had two other guys with us; this had to be done rapidly and efficiently. I noticed a gun on the ground next to a body our Intel told us about this gun. It was an MP-40, the German submachine gun. I grabbed it and put it on my harness I would have to ask one of the other guys to teach me how to use it hoping it was simple.

We made it on the other side of the street. The streets were a battlefield, with nothing but cars and rubble being destroyed by the two tanks. Cars and debris being destroyed either by being run over or by a stray cannon shot. There were bodies and body parts all over; the men on both sides were caught in that tank brawl. As we were getting ready to storm the building, Tim then stopped us, he gave us a signal to get grenades, and we did. We open the door gently, and we all counted to three silently and then rolled them in there so we wouldn't alert the enemy. We all took a few steps back within a moment there was a loud explosion, the building that was there belch out air, smoke, debris, and body parts.

We went in it was nothing but charred walls and body parts all over the place, I then tripped over something it was a German soldier he was still alive he tried to pull the pin from his grenade everything slowed down again the first thing I could do was grab my 1911. Once I grabbed it, and I shot him five times. It was a good thing he never pulled the pin, or we would've all been a part of the walls. Once we got finished in the building, it was no one here, and the other enemies didn't notice, Edward and the other guys were putting up a hell of a distraction we had to finish going through these buildings as fast as we could. We signaled for two more men to come with us, and we spent the better half of the day clearing the buildings that meant I spent half of my day killing people.

I felt sick, but I couldn't puke because I haven't eaten, so I felt dizzy for a while. There were brains and organs everywhere. The blood flowing all over the place left made the area slippery I have to be careful not to fall. I had to try not to look down. To keep my composure, no, I couldn't help but notice one even pissed themselves before they died.

Almost finished, just one more building to clear. We had ten men on each side, and the rest were finishing up The surrounding area. The Germans were in a sandwich, and luckily we were looking for a surrender more than anything there had been enough death. We couldn't see them, but we could hear them. The building was not significant; it was pretty small. By the looks of it, it looks like an old butcher shop. All of the windows had been boarded up, but you could see shadows moving. The men there must have been desperate. We just cleared out the entire city. I then heard a shot, I wasn't paying attention admittedly, and a soldier next to me fell he was hit right in the chest as he was gasping for air. The blood sprayed it right out of his mouth as he was also gasping for air he looked like a kid maybe around 18. The medics rushed to his side, trying to keep this kid alive but could do nothing for him. I could see his life leaving him, and he died pretty quickly, but it looked incredibly painful. A Captain then got angry and said, 'Everyone light them fucking krauts up.'

The men from both sides fired their Guns from the Tommy guns, and M1's to the stolen Mp-40's The men in that building were screaming they were all dying. I didn't bother shooting; I felt like it would be overkill. After about three minutes of firing, we checked the building. Everyone was dead. I'm quite sure they called for reinforcements.

Edward then called me over to him and said, 'There has been a change of plan, son, you'll be coming with us. We have another mission to take care of.' I wondered what was so important that they had to stop this; D-day was the most important operation that we planned. What did they need us to do that was so important that we had to stop the operation? What was so more critical then D-day? Tim turned around and said what I was thinking, "What is so important that we have to stop this mission, sir."

The other soldiers were moving forward, getting in their platoons and groups getting ready for the next city. Tim wasn't a smart man, but he was practical aside from the fact that he was a racist cunt he was realistic. He had a lot more going for him then a lot of people believe. Tim was a flat white. He had a round face and a sharp chin, and he was skinny as hell, but he was in shape. He wasn't quite as muscular as Jason or John, but you could tell he was fat At one point in time in his life because he still had a bit of a double chin. He had black hair, and he looked like he was a kid with an attitude even though he was in his mid-20s. His eyes were brown, and they were large, proportionate with his face but still large nonetheless. He was taller than me. He was 6 foot 1, so he would usually try to use his size to take advantage of me, but it never panned out for him while Edward was around. His nose was wide and long with a little bit of a point, but his nostrils were unusually small. He had thin lips that covered up his teeth. His teeth were crooked in the front, probably because someone knocked his lights out. He would usually bully me when it was just us, but I always made sure to steer clear of him. Dealing with someone like him, almost they never go away.

Edward then said, 'This war is over for us, son.' I then said, "major, are you insane?" All of the soldiers were preparing to move out or had moved out. They weren't far enough away from us we could catch up, but something was wrong.

"We just got here how is the war over for us?"

Before I knew it, Edward was close to me looking at me. I tried to turn away, but I couldn't, no matter how much I wanted to resist it. He wasn't even touching me, and that was what made me worry. What was this? He then started talking, and all I could do was listen to him. He then said

'You will listen to my instructions, and you will follow them no matter how much you want to disobey.'

That was impossible how could I be forced to follow orders that were treason? He said in a calm voice

'You will follow Jason and Me. You will not alert any of our allies of us leaving, and you will be quiet.'

I wanted to scream traitors, but all I could do was nod in compliance.

'What did you do to the niggar you treasonous bastard.' Tim said, almost shouting. I couldn't do anything I just watch. I tried my best to fight it, but I felt it was no point. Whatever they did to me I was following their orders to a T. Major looked at him and said "You will regroup with the rest of the platoon, you will tell them your team died in action you are the only survivor. Tell them our names and ranks and tell them we were buried underneath the rubble. Now go and don't look back."

Tim didn't say anything else. He just turned around and started running towards the platoon of soldiers. What the hell is happening? Why am I following their orders? Why can't I resist? The two of them started talking. Jason then said, 'It would be faster if we used our Abilities. We could be to her mansion within 45 minutes to an hour.' Edward nodded and said, 'Agreed, but since you fed, you should carry him, Edward said.'

Who's mansion? What are they talking about? What does he mean by fed? Jason then looked at me. He was still covered in the blood, but it had long since dried now, and his face was clean. His uniform was the only thing covered in it. He then squatted down to me as I was sitting on the ground and said 'You will now go to sleep.'

As if I wasn't already fighting off being lightheaded now, I'm being forced to go to sleep I try to fight it, but he continued to look at me and said 'Don't fight it I don't want to knock you out.' Everything then faded to black.

I was in and out for a few minutes, and I noticed we were moving fast, but how are we moving? I haven't seen a truck, and now that I pay attention I'm on someone's back, I look up, and I noticed Jason. I was still curious as to how we were moving so fast we could not have been in the car. It was way too windy and cold. He then stops and says, 'We're here.' Edward was right next to us also. This time his uniform was covered in blood to what did these two men do? I then asked, "what the hell happened?" I said this while looking at Jason. He then said, 'You will find out soon enough now get off of me.' I got on the ground. I noticed something. We were in a secluded area; it was nothing but grass and trees all around, at the center of it all was a mansion.

I had no idea where we were; this was all happening so fast. I looked around and noticed there was no car in sight; it was just Jason and Edward. I was traveling on Jason's back. The mansion was beautiful. It had two windows in the front and two on the top. Those were the only two that were visible, it was massive but modest, almost as if it was meant to blend in. What made it even better, it built with stone. The house stones were proportion and stacked like a brick house. Only they were gray and roughly twice the size of regular bricks. The front of the house had a porch with a roof to keep the sun out it was small it wasn't big only big enough to put two chairs on the side and for people to come in. The porch was supported with wooden beams. It was all held together so nicely, yet it looked so sturdy.

It has working lights on the inside even though there was no power source. The house had a flat roof from what I could see and a chimney on the left side, probably keep the house warm. The windows upon closer expectation, you could see a beautiful glaze over them. It looks like a purple glaze. I couldn't tell, though it was dark, I don't know how it was so dark so early. Could it have been the middle of the night? The door was plain, but it showed so much detail, You could see that it was a wooden door. But it had flowers and glares carved into it with glass put there. The flower petals all had their respective color except one. The roses were red, and violets were purple; they even had tulips. The door had the roses on the outside. It was for at each end. Closer to the inside, you would see a circle of purple violets with carvings of the stems intertwined for the loop; this was beautiful. At the very center, you would see it to the tulip was the only thing that was in that close in color to the other flowers i. Itnstead was black. I wonder why? Was that a design choice?

I had realized we were at the door. I took one last look around and noticed it was a perfect circle, where are we exactly I begin to wonder again. Edward then looked at me and said, 'why don't you knock?' I don't think I had much choice. As soon as I went for the knock, the door opened. There was a beautiful lady at the door, she then said 'it's nice to meet you again, finally my son.'

End of Chapter 3 The Shit storm and The Mansion.
