Chapter 6
My Ethereal Form
Final Part
It was too much, all of it. I could feel myself getting closer to them. I could feel my walls dropping. Breaking. Everything in me wanted to scream yell out everything Elvira did to me. Everything the Bio-world took from me, but that was not possible. That would have been selfish. Instead of turning back, I practically ran to my room. My door slid sideways, and I tore through it. I engaged the do not disturb mode on the security lock before backing away until my back smashed against the wall of a corner. I slid down, wrapping my arms around my knees. Warm tears dripped down my face. I didn't try to stop them this time. My throat, aching for me to scream. My dragons warmed on my arms, sending me their comfort. It would only be a matter of time before my incessant need to keep a distance would finally settle in, and they would no longer want to try anymore. I sighed out loud. Eventually, they would all give up, even Masha. I was surprised they had tried this long. I had only let Masha in so far, and I could see that our agreement was starting to wear thin. A thought of her completely cutting me off rose in my mind sending a chill down my spine. I wanted more than this. I wanted to lay my soul bare before them. Everything in screamed to do the opposite of what she begged of me.
"Keep your head up Loo. Don't get too close to them. We protect each other, fight alongside each other. That's it. Nothing more. Getting attached only causes problems."
It was true, personal emotions made it harder to move on when one of us got floated. The same reasoning had cost my sister her life as well. My hands started vibrating with tremors. The Fatales jar shook as my anger grew. Ugh! I stood up. Enough was enough. I needed a release, and I knew just how to do it. The problem was getting caught. If any one of my teammates saw what I could do, and word got out to Elvira. Nothing would be the same again. It would mean slavery or worse for my people. I would die before I let that happen. I needed this release. It had been so long since the last one I did. Indigo rays from the moon slipped through the window of my room. The Fatales natural white lights flickered, clashing with the blue rays. I walked up to the window, looking for a release lever. It's not like we could escape; we were in another solar system for the ancestors's sake. The only Bio-hover craft I had seen was locked away, and Xanth was the only one with the key. This time my arms and hands vibrated, causing my dragons to hiss in irritation. They wanted me to release too, and I needed to, otherwise, my overload could kill anyone near me. I walked away from the window, grabbing the wooden chair, resting in front of a desk. I placed it near the wall under the window and climbed on top of it. The fall from the window to the ground wouldn't do me any harm if I was smart about my landing. Peering out to see if anyone else was outside. When the coast was clear, I pushed open the window and slipped out, rolling as I hit the ground with a soft thud.
The trees were the perfect cover for what I was about to do. The distance was the only problem. Kira was good at sensing power surges in the earth. Her abilities coinciding with her skill to create weapons from the area around her. If I wanted to go unnoticed; I had to be far enough away to not be detected, and not cause any damage. I also needed to be careful to not get lost in the process. This planet was not mapped out for us specifically for the reason of running away. Not to mention Xanth's abilities were completely unknown to me. If I had to guess, his flair had to do more with vibrations than the waves I was about to send into this planet. I had just to keep them under a concise frequency. It was hard work, but work I intended to do. I quickly walked through the trees carefully to mark the trees around me. Energy surged within me, and dragons began vibrating against my skin as they sensed what was about to come. I walked a few more feet before a clearing a peered before. I stepped over a few bushes. Estrellas lined the sky, and the indigo moon brightened the area with its blue rays. Luminescent violet flowers lit the clearing clashing with the chalky red ground. This was perfect. I sat down in the middle of the clearing laying on my back as I took a deep breath. The fresh air, smelling sweet and bitter at the same time. My skin tingled as my energies surged higher. If I wasn't careful I could alert everyone else and rip apart this very planet. I carefully switched from the external sense to my internal ones. Like a flip of a switch, the world around me was gone. I rose and walked forward. Trees swayed to their waves. The grasses jumped with their vibrations. Creatures native to the land flowed to the wavelength of the planet. Pearlescent lights from the indigo moon sparkled and swiveled to their wavelength. This was the world of my people. I could see everything that linked me to the planet, the sky, the ground, and us. We were all connected by wavelengths and vibrations. It was something my ancestors mastered a long time ago, and in turn, taught me. The ethereal world was something only a few of my people could see and go. Invisible to others, we could feel, see how everything survived down to the smallest micro creature. It was something that went without saying and was never to be discussed with outsiders. My hair, now white, floated around my face and shoulders. I looked back and watched my body lying on the ground.
My chest slowly rising as I breathed. My birthmark's white light a stark contrast to the bioluminescent violet glow on the grass. A soft brown glow quivered around my body, matching the tone of my skin. My dragons flowed around me somehow still sensing my ethereal form. They zipped up in the sky playfully nipping at each other. I smiled, turning my eyes away to stare up at the stars as they vibrated. Their lights twitching as each one sent off their wavelength. I breathed in before shooting out my hands. The ground around me rattled and shook as I sent my wavelengths. My dragons floated down as they vibrated their wavelength to keep mine in check. The area around me warped in front of my eyes. The trees bending at odd angles. The sky, flipping in on itself, responding in kind. My pain was evident. It wouldn't get rid of it, but it would help to cope with it. Elvira made sure of that. She, along with a few others were the only ones who knew what I could do with a voice like mine. She took that away along with my sister's life. I collapsed on my knees, wanting to scream, but couldn't. My heart, aching for everything and nothing. I was the only one left who knew about the real Bio-world. My sister was taken long before I became a Sui-generis. I was alone. The ground rattled from my strength, my pain. It creaked and groaned as it tried to keep itself intact. Creatures around me, scattered seeking shelter. I watched as the ground cracked open before me. Bluish-green smoke rose from the crevices. I was not worried about it being poisonous because the trees sucked it in before it could even reach me. The ground rumbled one last time before returning to its silent state. The only thing still waving were the trees surrounding me. I rose on shaky legs turning away from trees that danced and swayed to wavelengths I had given them. I paused before reentering my body. The ground once again vibrated as trees sent their wavelengths back. I smiled. Warmth blasted through me from inside out. It was a clear message. I was not alone. My dragons flitted over to me, circling before going back to wrap around my arms. I stared at the sky as the stars brightened from their message. My spine went rigid as I watched a Bio-hover craft break through the atmosphere. Someone was coming. Fuck.
