Chapter 17

While marching Vladimir looks in front, behind, and around to see what troops he can identify. He spots some grenadiers lifeguard foot, Jäger both Russian and 17th regiment. He looks at the line infantry which is made up of Moscow Musketeers, which if he remembers correctly were originally battle-hardened veterans and there is the regular musketeers line infantry. Compared to other country's on earth during the 18th and 17th-century Russian infantry, Russians were lacking in diversity in line infantry.

The French had the Polish Legion, Swiss Foot. The Austrians had the 47th Czech regiment, Emperors Fusiliers, and others. He sighs but cheers back up seeing the cavalry, light, heavy, and lancers and some Cossacks.

After hours of marching and seeing the sun going, then he orders the army to stop and camp for the night. His tent was in the center and was the largest, of course. The soldiers set up some tents while the light cavalry scouted the area.

Vladimir came out of his tent after eating some stew. He looks up at the stars and starts singing.

"Sleep, good boy, my beautiful,

Bayushki-Bayu

Quietly the moon is looking

into your cradle...…"

The soldiers nearby heard the song, and some closed their eyes to enjoy it because of how soothing it sounds. Some even fell asleep while others tried to sing along and some did. After singing Vladimir looks around and smiles

"I'll write the words on paper so you guys can have to take home," Vladimir tells them

Some nod and quietly leave. The night soon came to an end, and he woke up in the early morning to the sound of people shuffling and packing up.

They were on the move again with no problem.

"the song last night was amazing,"

"I fell asleep peacefully,"

"made me feel like a little boy listening to my father,"

"Think the Tsar will sing again?"

Some soldiers were talking while marching, especially about last night

Two weeks have passed, and the army is close to Arcadia's capital. Once Close the drums of the army start beating and the steps become louder. On command, the soldiers start to sing God, Save the Tsar!

"God, save the Tsar!

Powerful, sovereign,

Reign for glory,

For our glory...."

Once in sync, they sounded mighty and people in the city were wondering song and language it was. By the time they reached the walls, they had stopped and split in two. Vladimir comes up the middle with a lifeguard horse behind him. Once he was at the front, he was surprised to see King Roland on his horse and some nobles behind him.

"King Roland honored you came to welcome me personally," he says with a smile

Roland didn't know whether to laugh or cry

"you brought an entire army to my city. Of course, I would come in person," he could only say it in his heart and not out loud.
