Not My Responsibility

"What are you doing?!"

Red!

"Huh? Are you... talking to me?" Amber asked as he glanced at Red, his arms wrapping themselves around my waist.

"Not you... but... ... Let go of him." Red said as he grabbed Amber by his shoulder.

"Ah?! What do you think you're doing? Let go of me. I'm clearly helping him. Can't you see that? Is it so wrong to help an omega in heat?"

O...Omega... that word...

"Looks more like you're trying to pull something else here. I won't repeat myself. Let go of him." Red said as I felt my body beginning to tingle.

What is this? The smell... Red's smell... got even more intense...

"R-Red..." I grunted out as I reached out towards him, only to notice the fierce look in his eyes.

I've never seen that before. But there was something about it that made my body react more towards being in such close proximity with him.

"Ah! Ash! Are you alright? Maybe we should leave. I'll bring you to a doctor." Amber said as he propped me up to lean against him.

My name... did I... tell him?

"Where do you think you're going? That's my... ... ..."

"Your what? Ash, do you know this guy?" Amber asked as he leaned close to my ear.

"Ahn..." I moaned by accident.

The atmosphere grew a little strange before I noticed a different scent in the air which was growing stronger by the second. I glanced up at Amber and his eyes were glowing almost crimson.

"I uh... S-sorry..." I felt a little aware as I wanted to distance myself from him.

Somehow it didn't feel right.

"Hmm... Well, mister. Looks like he doesn't know you. We're leaving. So get your filthy hand off my shoulder."

"Wha?! Young Mas--- no... Ash! Who do you want to leave with?!" Red asked as he grabbed my arm instead, pulling me to look in his direction.

"Hnnn.... Hurts..."

"Ah! S-sorry... I..."

"You know what, forget it. We're leaving." Amber said as he yanked off Red's hand from my shoulder and grabbed our luggages, walking away from Red.

"W-wait... why are we... That... man is..."

"You're not going anywhere. That man is my mate. Get your hands off of him." Red said as his scent grew stronger.

"Huh? What a load of crap. He isn't even marked."

"That's because.... .... We... we're taking it slow. I won't mark him until he gives his consent." Red said as I felt Amber's grip loosen.

I managed to break free from his grasp but soon found myself pulled into Red's embrace.

"R-Red..." I muttered as I glanced up at his face which was growing redder by the second. Not really an expression that suited him but it was adorable.

"Tsk. Fine. I guess you win this time. I'll see you around, Ash. Gimme a call. I'll empty my schedule for you." Amber said as he approached me and kissed my forehead.

"Wha--?"

"You! What do you think you're..." Red lashed out at him but was met with empty space as Amber had left to grab his bag and left.

"... Ash... F-fancy meeting you here. Are you alright? The scent is..."

"I... didn't think I'd meet you here too..." I replied as I snuggled against his shirt.

It smelled so good.

"We'd better get out of here. I have a room booked nearby. Just hold it in a little longer." Red said as he took off his coat and wrapped it around me before lifting me up and heading for an available cab.

"Get out." I heard Red say but I didn't understand what was happening as my head was swirling from the words filling my mind.

"Pardon me? Sir, this is my cab. You either get in or not. I don't get... Oh... an omega... Don't worry sir. I'm a beta. I'll bring you to the location you need. No worries."

".... I won't repeat myself. I'll pay for the car."

"?! Oh, um. Of course." the driver said flabbergasted as Red passed him a black card and took to the driver seat.

***

When I opened my eyes, I was met with an unfamiliar ceiling and a bed I wasn't used to.

I glanced around and felt a great throbbing in my head. My hand touched something warm so I yelped and turned to face it, finding myself face to face with Red.

"Red..." I whispered to myself as I felt my heart beating faster.

I ran my fingers through his hair, then down his cheek as I trailed the smooth feel of his skin.

"Hmm... Young Master..." Red groaned as he blinked his eyes open, groggily saying those two words.

"My name... Didn't you call me Ash earlier?"

"M-my apologies! I shouldn't even be sleeping in the same bed as you right now." Red replied as he quickly sat up and lowered his head towards me.

"That... why are you acting this way..."

"You're from the main house! What right do I have to..."

"I'm no longer a Vujisic... I'm just... Ash."

"Pardon?"

"... Omega... I'm an omega..."

"I... I see... But... you'll always be the young master in my eyes."

"... That... is kind of cruel of you... don't you think?" I said as I brought his face up so that our gazes would meet.

"... I can't... have you as my responsibility. I think its best... if we never meet again."

"... Is that... so?" I asked as my voice cracked.

I knew we weren't close. We didn't know each other. Only the feel of our skins and how our body melded together for that one night...

Yet it feels as if I'm losing something. Something very important that I should be holding onto.

"I'm sorry. I just... think that I can't provide you with what you really need. As I am now... or ever will be... I don't want to... no... can't... take responsibility for you. My apologies."

"Coward."

"P-pardon?"

"You are as they say... a coward."

"..."

"Then... just for tonight... before you leave me again..."

"Yes?"

"Hold me like you did that night. Don't think of me as that young master. Think of me as... ... you did that night."

"How can I possibly--"

I cut off his words forcibly by pressing my lips against his and pushing him down.

If it was the last time we were ever going to meet again... I want to savour... savour this feeling... breathe in this scent... one last time...
