lost and alone among humans...

And....

Act 2

Fantasy Ball

The noises and screams coming from the garage at the back of the colonial mansion's backyard are drowned out by screams and loud music. Three humanoid creatures advance through the place with menacing hisses bringing panic. The glass on one of the windows on the first floor breaks when a body is thrown by it, spreading more terror among the teenagers who start trying to escape.

Ane's Notes

I knew shouldn't have come to that party.

I also knew that I was looking for trouble. Everything went wrong when agreed to accept Bratt's invitation. And it hadn't been his idiocy to push the bar imagining that I was playing a difficult girl. It was what was with us there in the garage. I don't know what scared me the most. The boys' screams were soon drowned out by gurgling sounds and moans that I will never be able to forget. And that sharp, metallic hiss ...

It's not human.

There are no such creatures.

Bratt is a muscle sucker and that's it. If he finds it irresistible. If it weren't for the fear I felt, it would be funny to see the man scared and trying to escape. A bully who always hung out with the veterans' gang. Only I had worse problems. My body was trapped in the narrow opening of the gate, pressing me against the stone floor.

And the house beyond ... There were blinding lights that illuminated the night.

There was a flying saucer that was maybe three times the size of an aeroplane. It flared reddish beams through the domes and appeared to have neither wings nor an engine. The sound of screams echoes from the house, making me paralyzed with terror. I can only think that don't want to die here.

I am seventeen years old.

Fear completely envelops me while I can hear my cousin's now terrible stories about little green men who were actually big and golden. feel the unpleasant warmth in my leg that spreads, and then there is the hallucinating pain. My loud, shrill scream is accompanied by Bratt.

Parties. I really don't like parties and the terrible rock noise they hear. My colleagues and I just watched and a costume dance is perfect for guys like us to mingle with a group of teenagers. And even better for the creatures, we hunt looking for food.

I spent some time watching the black-haired human and her simple clothes that caught my attention in the profusion of colours and fantasies. I just had to wait to act at the right time and I was in a reserved place ready to act.

I got to watch the girl leave the house accompanied by the tallboy and my instincts reacted on alert realizing that two more of them followed the same path. It was not yet time for any of us to reveal ourselves in front of humans. And the moment came ahead of schedule when the screams started. First, the lights went out and then ...

The smell was impossible to forget. Those creatures that had escaped from our ship after so long imprisoned, sought only to satisfy the most basic need of any living being. They sought food.

It was too much not to smell the adrenaline that left the trail for miles away. And what we were chasing now had everything we could wish for. Some litres and litres pumped blood with adrenaline, awakening the most primitive compulsion of their predatory natures.

It didn't take long and everything became complete chaos. I caught a glimpse of my friends taking up arms as humans began to flee odious creatures, the sound of shattered furniture bringing crashes as they were thrown against the walls.

Hisses and growls mingled with the noise of things being shattered and I sighed irritably. It would be luckily a carnage that the local authorities did not notice. Or that the government of humans after negotiating with the government of Poseidon would declare a likely gas explosion erasing the vestiges of what they hid from the rest of humanity. Humans were not alone in the Universe. Our city had barely been discovered emerging from the ice in Antarctica. We controlled the fields of genetic research for hybridization of genomes of various species. The entire planet was controlled and monitored in research like a huge laboratory.

We just watched the evolution of humanity. The Galactic Confederation knew as well as we did that in the event of an invasion, the first resources to be plundered would be the coup de grace for the destruction of humans. The Blue Planet was just a source of observation and study for more evolved species of life. There is a new Argatha built to house us.

First, they would take over the energy sources and then the food production reserves. They would need to end up with more than half the world's population on the planet. They would dominate the Internet by blocking communications and wiping out defence forces.

It is a fact that only 5% of human DNA is functional. The rest of the dormant is being activated as humanity evolves into a more conscious species, a task that has been carried out by intelligence that created the human race.

None of that mattered to me now. Our colony of humans was being attacked by creatures that should never have existed. Sometimes the hybridization processes don't work. There is the incompatibility between species. And we ended up creating monsters.

I left my tunic that hid the forgotten reddish complexion by raising the flaming sword of a guardian of the planet. Imagine as if the Earth were a huge zoo of humans with alien life forms.

ran in the direction that the most shrill screams echoed in agony, recognizing the sound of grinding teeth. I knew that as much as I denied my guardian duties, I looked for the human in the midst of carnage.

managed to see her trapped under the garage door and screaming in terror. And the smell of fresh blood made me twist my expressions with more irritation.

"Come on!" I shouted angrily. "Give me your hand to get you out of there." Now!

A pair of blue eyes looked at me with total discretion and lost.

-No ...- A new cry escaped the human when she bit her lips in pain.

There was no time for discussions. grabbed her body by wrapping my arms under her armpits and my eyes focused on the jammed tilting gate forcing the metal to slide in protest with the strength of my mind. Next, released the metal, leaving the garage isolated from us.

-Curse! Were you bitten by those things? - I swore angrier still at myself.

That creature was not on the list of individuals selected for genetic research or to be replaced.

-You're not wearing a costume! - Her voice brought out an involuntary groan.- You are not human!

The touch of her skin against mine caused irradiations to all my nerves. It was the temptation of my duties as a guardian that should never interfere. We could only interfere in the slaughter of older or diseased species in the human colony for scientific research. I had before me a healthy and young female, ready to be another breeder in the processes of hybridization of the genome. And it aroused feelings in me that I should never have felt at that moment.

-Because I am not a human being. Or would be dead and smashed in Garnulas' clutches, sweetness. Let's go. Move! Do not let your body stand still so that the blood slowly pulsates in your veins again. The poison in these things works very quickly. Only the adrenaline from your blood will slow the process until I can immunize you.
