Who Am I? Well...

Jean looked at who grabbed her and saw that it was Josh. "Wha-"

"Please, play along," he pleaded her. Josh flips on his hood, pulls Jean close, and hugs her. "Sorry, this will be over quick," Josh apologized.

"Sh*t, where did he go off to?" A man's voice came from around the corner and a second later, two people appeared. They were wearing police uniforms. Jean suddenly remembered that they were the two men from this morning.

"Hey, what are-"

"Shhh." Josh put his finger on Jean's lips and slouched a bit lower and buried his head on her shirt to completely hide his face from the two police officers.

"Hey, you two," one of the officers called out to them and was walking towards them. "Did you see someone run by here?"

Jean felt Josh begin to shake as the officer got closer to them. But just before he reached, his partner stopped him. "Let's not bug them lovebirds, shall we?"

"Huh? I'm just asking them-"

"This is why you can't find a date, Matt. C'mon, he's probably in there," the second officer pointed at the door behind Jean.

They barely managed to evade the officers. Jean waited for the officers to leave through the door before she pushed Josh away. "What are you doing?"

"Huh? That voice, wait..." Josh looked wide-eyed at Jean. "Oh! It's you! I thought I heard that voice before!"

"You just noticed?"

"Uh, sorry about that, I was in a rush."

"Yeah, I could tell." Jean's pointed at the door behind her. She was tempted to run after them and tell them that their target was right here, but she was curious as to what he was in trouble for.

"It's not what you think," said Josh.

"Yeah? Why are you being hounded down by them then?" Jean asked.

"Well, you see..." Josh scratched his head and his eyes wandered off to the side. "Uhhhh..."

"Alright, I heard enough." Jean turned to go fetched the two officers but Josh quickly grabbed her arm.

"Wait, I'll confess." Josh sighed. "You remember the explosion at the laboratory the other day?"

"Yes, it was the same day that I found you lying unconscious in an alleyway," Jean told him.

"Yeah, that too," Josh agreed. "Well anyway, you should've heard that it was done on purpose, potentially a terrorist group."

"Go on."

"You see, I'm part of that terrorist group that blew up the laboratory that day," Josh told Jean with a smile and a huge thumbs up.

Jean stared at Josh speechlessly. Was he some kind of an idiot or something? He just confessed to her that he was a criminal. He was practically begging to get arrested. Was there something wrong with his head? Or was he trying to get her caught up in this mess as well? If that was the case, she wanted no part in it.

As Jean turned around to go fetch the cop, Josh stopped her again. "Wait wait wait, I'm only kidding. Calm down."

Jean turned back around to face Josh. "Then spit it already. Why are they after you?"

"Truth be told, I'm not actually part of that terrorist organization yet. That explosion was made by me and it was my entrance exam to get into the group," Josh explained with a big smile and another thumbs up.

"..."

"No, wait! That was a joke as well! I'm just playing with you!" Josh stops Jean once again and sighs. "Sheesh, I never struck you as the serious type. You gotta take some jokes somethings you know."

"And what part of saying that you're a terrorist is funny?" Jean asked. She didn't get his sense of humor. "If you don't actually tell me the truth this time, I'll drag you to those officers."

"Hmm, I wonder if you can. I'm quite strong you know," Josh said with a smirk. He saw that Jean was still unamused and said, "Okay, okay. I'll tell you." Jean crossed her arms and stared blankly at Josh as he began to speak. "Starting off, those two you saw," Josh pointed at the cafeteria door and continued, "They are not from the government. They are part of I.C.E.'s private military force."

"I.C.E. has its own army?" Jean asked. She never heard of this before, But then again, he could be lying to her again.

"Yeah, they keep it a secret since they would get into trouble with the government if they got found out... You don't look like you believe me," Josh noted.

"If it were a secret, how do you know about them?" Jean asked suspiciously.

"You know the president of I.C.E.? Yeah well, I'm his son."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"NO! Stop trying to go fetch those two!" Josh cried out as he grabbed Jean's arm for the fourth time. "I'm actually serious about this!"

"Really? I heard that the president's son never goes outside. He's homeschooled and everything is served to him so that he wouldn't need to bother leaving his home," Jean pointed out. If Josh were really the president of I.C.E.'s son then why was he in a public school like this? If he wanted to lie then he needed to at the very least make it believable.

"That's just a lie made to conceal his, or rather, my identity," Josh explained. "I really can't stay cooped up in a small space all day. I need fresh air."

"Can you prove that you are indeed who you say you are?" Jean asked.

"Hmm, that's hard. Give me a moment to think." Josh paced back and forth for a few seconds before snapping his fingers and saying, "Ah, I got it." He reached into his pocket and pulled out something and handed it to Jean.

Jean looked at the object and asked, "What is this?"

"It's my access card. It has clearance to all of I.C.E.'s facilities and information."

Jean inspected the card. It looked very similar to his dad's but the color was different. In addition, the card was also a lot thicker and harder to bend. "And how do I know you really aren't a terrorist and that you stole this as you were leaving the laboratory?"

"You're still suspecting that I'm a terrorist?"

"Yeah, since this doesn't explain why those two were after you. Actually, it makes even less sense. If you are the president's son then why would they be after you?"

"I ran away from home to study here, and after I.C.E. learned about there being a potential terrorist group, my dad wants me to go back where it's safe," Josh calmly told Jean. He wasn't speaking in a cheerful voice anymore. He was saying everything in a serious tone. "Those two are here to bring me back and frankly, I don't want to go back."

Jean saw reason in Josh's words but was still doubtful about his identity. Something in Josh's pocket started buzzing and he took it out and showed it to Jean. Jean read the phone screen. 'Torrie Bailey.' It was the president's name.

"Do you believe me now?" Josh asked. Before Jean could reply, Josh went on to say, "Well, please excuse me while I take this call." Josh walked a few feet away from Jean and put the phone to his ear. "Yes, yes, I know... I know." There was a short pause before he said "yes" again. In just a few seconds, the call ended and Josh turned to Jean. "Yeah, that's that. I need to go now so see you later."

Josh turned to leave but stopped and remembered. "Oh yeah, your present. I'll give it to you tomorrow," he said cheerfully. "Alright, bye now." Josh hurried off without waiting for what Jean had to say.
