Chapter Two

Jade/Azalea's POV

With a pen in hand, the female doctor thoughtfully stared at her notes before staring back at the mother-daughter pair, which you can say me and my mother. She professionally smiled as she finally let us go after an hour or so of check-ups and questions.

"Okay! Azalea, you're perfectly healthy, and you don't need anything else but continuing to take care of your body! If this, however, happens again, you might want to visit a doctor who specializes in something else." The doctor, who goes by the name Doctor Annie, softly pat my head as she continued to talk to my mother.

"Another doctor? What kind of specialization should we find?" Asked Chrissy, my mother, as she rubbed my back affectionately.

"Hm... From what I remember, it's either a doctor who specializes on either magic, or spirit. However, I am not an expert in this area and can only handle problems about your physical health, so my deduction might be wrong. In this case, your body is in a perfect condition and one of the variables of your symptoms might be caused by those two. But just to be safe, if this happens again, you should visit the doctor in other professions." As soon as Doctor Annie finished, the two adult women waved goodbye and expressed their thanks until leaving the room.

As the soft sound of the door shutting was heard, I stared at my mother who picked me up for her to carry. She wore a small smile that further enhanced her beauty. Looking this pretty, you can't really tell that she's already a mother, as she looked much younger than her age.

Well, I guess having good genes runs in the family even now.

"Eli, dear, what do you want to eat today? Our breakfast has already turned cold so we will be having our breakfast outside! What do you want?"

Giving me a a bright smile, her question caught my attention. After all, for me, it felt like years since I had my last meal— which makes my mind go back to a certain subject I just tossed away from my mind just now.

"I want your cooking, Mommy." I answered half-heartedly, trying my best to sound cheerful as the last sliver of my mind completely wandered into nowhere.

"Okay, then! I will just reheat our food after we go back, hmm?"

I absentmindedly nodded as I faked my yawn, closed my eyes and rest my head on her chest— the sound of her beating heart soothing me into thinking deeply about this one particular subject.

Katherine Jade Anderson, and... Azalea Eliot Jadeite. Who am I exactly?

The moment I opened my eyes after the incident, it was as if I became both of them, but not entirely so. I am Jade! And I am also Azalea. Jade isn't just a part of my dream, right? It was too vivid and real that my mind just faking it would feel so impossible!

It feels like my whole self had changed. Azalea... she was just a 3-year-old girl. As far as I know, she was just learning basic education at this age. While Jade... she's already a 19-year-old teen. I don't particularly have a bigger impression on both, despite the huge difference of the time they had spent. I feel like I'm neither of them, and despite that, I also feel like I'm both of these two people. The huge contradiction of my feelings confuses me.

Now that I am in the body of young Azalea, should I continue being her?

A frown appeared on my face, squinting my eyes open to see the front porch of our house.

'Oh. I fell asleep.'

With the sun at its very peak, the scorching rays caused sweat to drip on my mother's face. The doctor's small clinic was only five minutes away, and starting the car would be a hassle as she was not exactly proficient in driving cars, thus slowing her down. So she decided to run her way from our house to the clinic, and back to our house from there. Thankfully, she brought a black umbrella with her to hide us from the blazing heat, and a small electrical fan. Despite the sweat from her though, she rarely gasped for air and her breathing was only slightly unstable. So you can say that she is not that frail and weak.

The moment we stepped inside, she immediately gently placed me back on the ground as I stretched my limbs to awaken from their numbness. After all, my sleeping position before was quite uncomfortable. Then, I followed my mother into the kitchen, where she began to wash her hands. As soon as she finished, I pulled out a small stool and stepped on it to compensate for my height, and also washed my hands.

I walked towards the dining area and saw the dishes covered by a transparent cover. I pulled myself up and onto the chair where I usually sat, and obediently watched Mother reheat the dishes.

After that, we ate our late breakfast as I relaxed during the whole afternoon.

As a child, I'm indeed enjoying my lack of work.

Upon observing my surroundings, I figured that nothing changed apart from my body. The technology were as advanced as before, and it seems that even the famous things were quite similar apart from some small changes I noticed. The thing that I have noticed as something different is that the people weren't the same. What I mean is that, if Albert Einstein was famous on Earth, someone with a little bit similar of his name and a semblance of his appearance was like the Einstein here. Or if BTS was famous on Earth, what I was seeing and hearing in the T.V. was called ATS.

All that aside, the biggest change I have noticed is what you call... magic.

Yes. Magic exists. Maybe I might have tossed the word out of my head when the doctor told me about it or when I've seen it in my memories, but now that I'm clear-headed, it immediately came to me.

This is not the Earth I knew, but it still has the same name and the fact that it has a spherical shape and is the third planet in the Solar System. So what I think right now is that this... is an "Alternate Universe" of some sort. If not, then is it something similar to it?

'I feel like my head is going to explode due to the overwhelming information.'

The television screen flashed, showing some news reports about the day and the last evening, and also about how they report the daily life of celebrities that's supposed to be none of their business.

'Ehh... It's also none of my business to say whether what they're doing is their business or not.' I thought to myself.

Now that my mother's preparing herself for her work, she kissed me goodbye before leaving the door.

"Eli, dear, Grandma and Grandpa will be back in about a minute or two, so behave well, okay?"

"Yes, Mommy!"

As I waved her goodbye, the most amazing thing happened right before my eyes. She pulled out a silver colored stick— or should I call it a wand?—as long as her arm, and flicked her hand at the door, as a small spark of light flashed and disappeared. She smoothly opened the door and instead of the place outside that appeared, a swirl of multiple colors varying from blue to green and to white instead took its place. Then, she went in, her figure no longer visible. As soon as she was gone, the door automatically closed, tempting me to go and open it.

I stood up, walked towards the door, and lightly opened it. The scene of our front porch was once again, there. I stepped forward and peeked, but not a silhouette of my mother could be seen. My mouth slightly hang open in wonder, amazed by what my mother did. It was as if nothing ever happened!

I closed the door and locked it, before going back to the couch and sat.

Just as I was about to go back watching, I thought, 'Hm... if Mom used magic to go to some place, why didn't she use it before when we went to the clinic?' (1)

Thinking about what job my parent and grandparents do for a while, I went back to watching T.V after not knowing what it is.

Just as what Mom said, an elder couple which has a semblance of my mother went out of the same 'portal' my mother used but only with darker shades of colors. After a second of thinking, I remembered that they are my grandparents from my mother's side.

"Grandma, Grandpa, welcome back!"I smiled as I rushed my way to them, giving both of them hugs which they accepted. After changing into their indoor slippers, they went forward and to the living room where I previously sat.

Looking at them, they seem to have this noble aura that I rarely see back then. But it didn't hide their gentleness they gave to me. And although faint, they both have this sweet feeling to each other.

'How sweet. Such a lovely couple.'

...

(1: I've read about some small fights on how to write "Mom/Mum". Well, for me, I write "Mom" and not "Mum" so yeah, I think it's just a matter of preference or what they were used to so I ain't changing it.)
