Due to the screenwriters' strike that began at the end of 1995, the number of new television and film productions in the United States had drastically decreased.
This not only affected the interests of several major media companies and the Producer Association, but it also caused many mid- and low-level actors to lose a significant number of job opportunities.
Out of necessity, the actors' union had to play the role of mediator, vigorously trying to reconcile the differences between both sides.
On the other hand, they also suggested that famous actors participate in television and film-related activities as much as possible to stabilize market confidence.
As a result, the Soap Opera Awards, which normally featured second-tier awards, was crowded with television stars.
Cast members from "Friends" and the couple from "Raymond," among others, all showed up at the Lincoln Art Center.
All of this nearly overwhelmed the star-struck fans in attendance.
"Rachel, I love you!"
