"Hello and welcome to my wonderful world of clocks," the store owner said," we have clocks of all varieties; tall, short, large small, watches, wall clocks, fancy, and plain and a million and one more options." This is the moment where my life started to go down hill. Oh, that's right I haven't introduced my self yet. My name is Austin, I am a guy, and I am a sophomore in High school. My friends and I had been hanging out today, just walking around town, when we saw a weird little shop. It was completely covered in clocks. Even the store keeper had on at least ten watches. He had a pocket watch attached to his old looking top hat, another in his waist coat pocket, three watches on one arm, four on the other, and he had a pocket watch in hand. We walked in the doors and he seemed to pop up out of no where to greet us. He looked so happy and excited to see us. There seemed to be no check out desk, and the clocks had no price tags. "You can each only take one clock," the store keeper said, "take care not to damage the clocks in any way. They won't work well for long if you do, you know." He said this and then he walked away towards the back of the store, he turned behind a grandfather clock and he did not reappear like he should have, if he had kept walking.
I shrugged, my two buddies and I started to walk around and look at the clocks. Some were made of curious materials. Most were made of wood, metal, or plastic. However there were a choice few seemed to be made of polished stone, glass, and there was even one of fabric. Each clock was somewhat different from the last. Maybe the outside of this one was red and so was the next, but the next red one would have curvy weird looking numbers while the first had normal font and purple clock hands. This one was completely covered in glitter on the outside the next on to have glitter would have numbers glistening and glowing covered in little specks of gold and blue. There was one clock where it looked like the numbers had all fallen off and accumulated at the bottom rim of the clock. The grandfather clocks were also different from each other. Though it is hard to imagine them any way, but how they are usually, they were very different. One would be white, the next a chocolaty brown, the next would have parts carved out and replaced with colorful resin. Making beautiful eye catching patterns, that would leave you speechless when finding it in someone's home.
Eventually I found this little silver pocket watch. It didn't really stand out, but for some reason I just had to have it. In the nob of the pocket watch, there was a small smooth green stone, and the chain sparkled brightly when held in the light making it noticeable to all, the face of the clock had roman numerals instead of numbers, and the hands were so small that they looked to be either clear or non existent at first glance. My one friend, John, picked out a glass clock that made little rainbows on the wall when the light shone through it. My other friend, Roby, chose a small clock that would sit on a shelf or counter. It had a flat bottom and was the color of fresh oak, it had a small gold band around the face, and the times were also in roman numerals. Roby told us he didn't know why, but he just couldn't take his eyes off the little clock once he found it.
We went to the front of the store and waited for the shop owner to come get his money for the clocks. Awkwardly we stood there for ten minutes, before he came and told us to take the clocks and not bother with paying. After he said that we just looked at each other, then in unison we thanked him, and left. Each clock we had chosen was relatively small and easy to carry. On our way home, we had a few problems. John's glass clock kept getting all slippery so he would lose his grip and almost drop it. Then one of us would help him catch it just in time. There might be a few small cracks in it, but nothing too bad. I mean it was still working properly telling the time when we made it to John's house. Roby and I said our goodbyes to John and left him to put his clock in a safe spot. Next we went to our house. Roby and I are renting an apartment, so we can be closer to school and work. It was nothing fancy there was a small kitchen, a bathroom, one bedroom, and a living room big enough for a couch, a recliner, coffee table, and a T.V.. Roby slept in the bedroom and I slept on the couch. It was fine by me since I fall asleep after Roby and if he was to sleep out here I wouldn't be able to watch some shows before sleeping.
Robby took his clock to the bedroom, and got it set up on his night stand. While I went and sat on the couch and placed my watch on the coffee table. Pretty soon we will have to go get some food, but in the mean time I want to just rest.
