Chapter 10: Fictional bestfriend

My arm that hangs all the paper bags from the branded shops that I went to, I heard murmurs as I walk through the hallway. I got used to Daphne's life, hearing murmurs from the girls around my age every time I walked inside a branded shop. I halted as I saw a shop that suits or should I say, Daphne's taste. I walked inside and the staff greeted me as if I'm a very important person.

Well, I am an important person. Oh, my words are influence how Daphne talks. I heard murmurs from the customers as I choose stilettos, "Would you like this one, Miss Summer?" the staff asked as she showed me silver strappy stilettos.

"The design is boring, no." I said. I know that my words are from Daphne, not mine.

"How about this, Miss Summer?" and showed me pink fuzzy stilettos. Classy but not cute.

"No," I looked around and saw stilettos that suit my taste or should I say Daphne's taste. I walked and grabbed the black velvet ribbon ankle wrap stilettos, classy and cute. I turned around, "I'll be taking this"

After splurging myself from shopping, I went inside a cafe. With my drink, I looked at the customers that went inside, I lowered my sunglasses and look at the girl.

"Macy!" I called out. Macy looks around and I waved my hand, her brows furrowed. She couldn't recognize me as I have sunglasses. She walked up to me.

"Do I---" I cut Macy's sentence off, eyeing her to keep her voice low. She silently squealed and sit across my table.

"I miss you so much," Macy said in a low voice, "why are you here?"

I looked at everyone, checking if they noticed me but they continued doing their business.

"let's talk somewhere else or better yet go to your house!" She didn't hesitate to grab me by the arm, storming out of the cafe as she chatted about how our lives went.

"My best friend is so busy that she couldn't even chat me," Macy said, referring to me in a third-person point of view. Macy is Daphne's first-year college best friend but only appears on Daphne's college days in the book, she is a best friend that Daphne would tell all teas in life.

"You know the life of a celebrity" I sighed, smiling.

"Speaking of celebrity, I've heard that you and Nathaniel are in a relationship? Like you serious? I totally widened my eyes out as I saw that Instagram post"

I bit my lower lip, hesitating to answer. I couldn't tell Macy that Nathaniel and I are in a pretend relationship.

"Yeah"

"That guy rejected you in high school"

"Macy, do you know change? Change happens"

"Yeah but it sucks how he realized just now that you are pretty. Seriously, they only want to date us when we are pretty." She halted as the traffic light went red.

"You are pretty, Daph. Don'tcome running at me again and tell me how you generally hate boys just because of that high school sweet heart of yours break your heart again"

"I won't" Macy laugh, she pushed the pedal and drove off, "Girl, better guard your hea--"

"Macy, I know. You think I would give him my all? As if!"

But would I be able to not give him all my love? I hit my head with my hand, getting the thought out.

She stirred her steering wheel and halted, she halted on a light-colored house that has neighboring houses. Macy and I hops off the car and went inside.

"Macyyyy!" a 5-year-old boy running towards her with a toy in his hand, she picked him up. "Baxtyy"

"Is that yo--"

'I haven't fuck anyone yet, Daph"

I heard footsteps running down from the stairs, "Oh, you're here. Hi, Daphne" it was Macy's big brother. I smiled and waved at him, "Hello"

"Feel yourself comfortable"

Macy scoffed at her brother, "Are you Macy? I should be the one saying that to her."

"Yeah yeah, I gotta go. Can't promise to sleep here" her brother said, walking past us as he heads towards the door.

"Why? Where are you going?" Macy asked, "Party again?"

Her brother looked at her, over his shoulder. "You bet!"

Her brother looked at me, smiling. "Bye, daphne and oh, tell mom some excuses. Just cover me up"

"Oh, really? Mom doesn--"

"Or you won't have your 50 bucks" Macy rolled her eyes, "Fine. Go to your shithole" and her brother stormed out.

"Don't mind that shithole, he hasn't changed" Macy said, defeatedly. He put her little brother down, "Miles is almost finished in college but.. " she shrugged and sighed, "He dropped out after having a conflict of his studies and a part-time job."

I sit beside her, "Now, he is drinking with some friends in college that are also dropouts to have some.." and sighed, "Anyway, we shouldn't talk about that now"

Looking at Macy, I want to comfort her but it seems she wants to talk something else. We chatted about how her life is during college and when I was gone, its the first time I felt that I have a friend. A best friend that is in fiction.
