Chapter 20: Moving Forward (6)

"Huh? Wait what?" Kyle asked with a confused expression, before he responded in a similar way:

"I think you have lost me a bit after the whole emotional aftereffect thing of magic or whatever it's called. What did that have to do with my magic again?"

The person couldn't help but sigh internally, before he answered calmly:

"Look, we don't have all day and so I'll just explain this once and I won't go deep into detail. When you gain an element, you get emotionally effected and the level of affection is higher, the more awakenings you have performed. So, in the case of Dark Magic, one would temporarily feel their emotions disappear, becoming nothing more than a cold, emotionless and apathetic person, but because you were barely affected or maybe because are feeling too emotional, you would feel nothing, but there will be signs on your body to show that, especially on the eyes. Now, can you answer my previous question?"

After the person asked, Kyle decided to think for a few seconds to digest this information, before he quickly asked for reassurance:

"The reason why it took me 4 hours instead of the 2 that I claimed?" The person nodded calmly and then Kyle answered with a slightly apologetic expression:

"I'm sorry but I do not know anything about that. I only spent 2 hours in there and I didn't want to spend another second in that deathtrap of a tower. Probably something must have happened during those other 2 hours that caused me to lose my memory."

"Hmmm..." At that moment, the person had put on a thinking expression and while they were thinking, Kyle decided to at D, whose figure was moving frantically, while somehow not making any voice. The moment he decided to try and respond though:

"-AND YOU REALLY THINK YOU ARE BETTER THAN ANYONE, WHEN IN FACT, YOU ARE..."

His extremely loud voice had suddenly exploded and he felt like his ears might bleed out from the extremely loud noise.

'WAIT STOP! STOP ALREADY!' Kyle screamed internally as he was desperately trying to cover his ears.

"Huh? What happened? I still had a few dozen thousand things to say." D asked with a slightly confused expression. Kyle shuddered a bit when he heard him say that, but he quickly put away those thoughts and quickly asked:

'Tell me, what he said about the tower and magic, is that true?'

"Hmmm... From the information that I had sifted through, before coming here, I would say that he was pretty accurate. The duration and the aftereffects of magic were on point and there weren't any contradictions or any misinformation." D answered with a calm expression, as he suddenly took a pair of glasses and put them on his face.

'Uhhh... I won't ask about those, but I do want to ask this. You have been listening to the entire conversation, while screaming like a madman?' Kyle asked, while rubbing his temples.

"Why wouldn't I do that? I may enjoy doing some shenanigans, but that doesn't mean I will be slacking off on my gathering of information. As a voidssenger, information is one of the keys needed to win any battle."

'So, is there anything I should be mindful of, like any manners or any laws?' Kyle asked sarcastically with an uncaring expression.

"Not much, just don't commit any crimes that were probably in your previous world and add any laws that include supernatural power, which in this case is magic. Not much is different, that's all." D answered with a dissatisfied expression, as he was rubbing his head. After he answered that, a black crack suddenly appeared in the sky and Kyle and D turned their heads towards the sky, before D complained with an annoyed expression:

"Can't I get a break or something? I wanted to sleep for a bit. Anyways, do you want to join kid?"

'Can I decline kindly?' Kyle answered with a helpless expression.

"You are free to do so, but why do you want to do that?" D asked curiously.

'I'm just not in the mood to do so right now. I can join and it's mostly similar to doing my acrobatics endurance training, but considering how things have been going right now, I just want to think for a little while.' Kyle answered with a depressed expression, as he put his head on his hand and stared at the sky.

"Understandable, take your time kid." After D said that, he suddenly turned into his normal form and quickly flew into the crack and then it disappeared. After that, Kyle couldn't help but sigh a bit, as he looked at the cyan sky, slowly getting covered with a lot of purplish clouds. He had never tried to look at the sky directly, so he hadn't really noticed that it was truly different from Earth's, cementing the fact that he was in a completely different world.

As he was looking at the sky though, he hadn't noticed that the person had stopped thinking and looked at the sky, only to see the clouds coming to cover the sky. At that moment, the person sighed, took out a pocket watch from their pockets and checked it out, only to feel slightly nervous for a moment, before putting it away.

'Damn, I guess we don't have a lot of time.' The person complained inwardly, before they grabbed Kyle's attention by asking:

"Can you meet up with me later at the plaza here, after some time?"

"I can, but what's the reason for?" Kyle answered as he looked at the person with a slight confusion on his own face.

"We need to leave quickly. I'll explain more when it's time to leave. Until then though, pack up anything you might need. Food, water, clothes, sundries or anything that might be useful for a somewhat long journey. Take this, should be more than enough for the supplies you might need for a week long journey." At that moment, the person tossed him a small pouch of coins. Kyle quickly saw that it had around a dozen silver coins and quickly said this:

"Wait, are you sure about this? I don't even know half the shops and-" But before he could say more, he was forcefully silenced by the person and they responded, while pointing at a certain shop:

"Just go to that shop and ask for a week's worth of supplies for traveling. Shouldn't take more than 10 silver coins, but do be careful to not get scammed." After they said that, they quickly rose and wiped their clothing a bit, before they started walking away. As they were walking away though...

"Wait, I never got your name sir. What is your-" Before Kyle could finish his question though, he was met with this answer:

"Balor, just call me Balor. What about you kid?" Balor asked back after his answer.

"Hmmm... Just call me Kyle. I don't know why, but that name clicks with me." Kyle answered back, as he continued lying about his amnesia, before he left for the shop that Balor had pointed out for him. As he was leaving though, Balor couldn't help but mutter to himself with a solemn expression:

"Maybe it's better if you don't remember anything Kylean. I just hope this is truly a blessing in disguise for you."
