Chapter 6: Nightmare

'Mother', I heard a sweet and calm voice calling out to me. I slowly opened my eyes to see who is it. But, when I opened them, All I see was darkness.

I was lying on a cold floor. I slowly sat up and adjusted my vision.

'Where am I?' that was the only thing I could think of.

'Mother', again someone was calling me. I raised my head to see a young boy smiling at me. With his jet-black hair, and ruby eyes that glimmer through the darkness.

'Dane', I called out. However, he was only standing there. I was about to stand up when I saw a man figure beside him.

He has the same feature as Dane.

'Is that him?' I thought.

'You are my only son. That means that whatever you have experienced before I met you should be forgotten. It will only make you weak', the man said with a firm tone.

'That's not true!' I wanted to shout at the man but, no voice came out of my mouth.

Dane just nodded at him and follow his footstep.

'Dane!' I wanted to run to him and stop him. But, I couldn't even stand up nor even scream.

'No! Not my Dane, please!'

I tried to reach them, but they were already too far for me.

Then another scenario was in front of me.

It was a scene I am familiar with.

The crowds of people gathered in front of a small stage. But, it was not a performance that they will witness, but the death of someone.

A man was kneeling in front of a guillotine. Face full of bruises and wounds. His hands were tied up behind his back.

His expression was not the same back when he was a kid. It was full of despair, and disappointment. It was no longer a cheerful face that I have known.

One of the knight's positions Dane's head between the guillotine blade.

'This is not supposed to happen!' I wanted to run and stop them. I wanted to hug Dane and wish that it was all a nightmare.

'Begin the punishment!'

One of the guards with an ax on his hands raise it and immediately cut the rope that connected to the guillotine blade.

'No!'

"No!" I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling. I was breathing heavily, and the sweat on my forehead was nonstop falling.

I roam my eyes around my surroundings and I suddenly felt scared. Dane was nowhere to be seen.

I quickly got up even though I still felt dizzy and pain throb on my side of my waist. But, that didn't stop me.

"Dane!"

I directly went to the door and opened it. Everything was unfamiliar. I can tell that I am not in a hospital. Right in front of the door was a hallway and a big window. Furniture that seems to be expensive.

"Dane?" I slowly walk around calling for my boy's name. A feeling of fright and fear dwells inside me.

"Mother?" it was only one word but, it already makes me feel calm. I turned around and saw him standing there.

"Dane!" I promptly ran to embrace him.

"Mother?" he sounds so confusing.

"I'm alright. I just have a nightmare, that's all"

"Then, you need some rest," then I heard a firm and cold voice that made me feel goosebumps.

I slowly raised my head to see the man that causes everything for Dane in ruin.

The Duke of Vismar, Duke Darwin Von Vente.
