The Beginning

"Be careful before you take my eye out." My trainor laughed as I accidentally shot an arrow at him

"You're distracting me." I sigh.

"It's okay, Madame Sensa." He smiled and fixed the bow in my hands. My mother never approved of a lady using weaponry but it was my favorite past time.

"Distractions will be all around you, you must keep a clear head and stay focused." He smiled at me. He was a handsome man with brown eyes.

"Would you like to try something new today?" He asked. I looked over at him and nodded eagerly.

"You have incredible strength for a woman. You need to learn how to harness it and use it to your advantage ." He handed me a sword.

"Strength has no gender." I replied. He just chuckles and grabs a sword of his own.

"I've never used a sword."

"Focus on your intent, madam." He replies

"What is my intent?"

"You are trying to save your life." He said and started moving quickly. Before I knew what was happening his sword was resting under my chin with mine out of my hands and a few feet away.

"Just pretend I'm trying to kill you and you're fighting for your life." He said. Before I could react, the clock tower rang outside. I sighed heavily and hurried to gather my bag.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"I have to get home before my mother catches me." I said and he chuckled in response.

I ran quickly to my castle and waited for my head servant, Lyra, to let me in.

"Right on time, Princess." She smiles warmly and embraces me.

"Thank you." I respond happily.

"Go bathe and get ready for dinner." She says. I nod in response and quickly make my way through the servants passage up to my room.

With a quick knock on a false wall my guardian, Oliver, opens the door to the hallway leading to my room.

"Your highness." He bows respectfully.

"Has she been up here?" I ask.

"No, your highness." He responds and leads me  to my door.

"Take the rest of the night off, please." I close the door to my room and sigh.

Ever since my father disappeared , the castle had been more of a prison than a home. With my birthday drawing near, I feared that i would be joining him soon enough.
