Puana

We head off to another place in TonDC, where there are tents that we will stay in while we make a plan to take down the mountain men. I walk next to Lexa. I tell her I'm going to go to the bathroom off in the woods and she asks to send a guard with me. I say that's not necessary, and I head off. Once I'm out far enough in the woods to where I can still find my way back I hear someone. Before I know it I'm in the ground with a knife to throat. "You killed 300 of my people." The grounder on top of me says. He lifts his knife and says, "For my brother!" I thought I was dead when he falls off of me. "If you attack her you attack me." I hear someone say. "Clarke. This is your kill." I realize it's Lexa. I get up slowly, still dazed. She hands me a concealed knife. I see the grounder that was on top of me crying out in pain with a knife in his hand. I don't want to kill him. I killed his brother and I didn't want to. I didn't have a choice. But now I do. I hear a roar that doesn't sound human. "It's the Pauna! Run!" Lexa yells, as she slices the grounders leg. I follow Lexa, and it's hard to keep up. I look behind me, and I see the grounder struggling to get up. I see something running at him. "Clarke come on!" Lexa yells to me. We run into a place with huge rocks. Then I see human bones. "Where are we?" I ask Lexa worriedly. "The paunas feeding ground." I see the pauna. It looks like a huge gorilla. I try shooting it multiple times but it's not affected. It's too huge. "Run!" I yell and we run farther into its feeding ground. We run until we have to jump. I can hear the pauna behind us. The fall could sprain a leg or an ankle if you don't land right. I jump first. And I hear Lexa jump after me. I hear her cry out in pain. She must of not landed correctly. "Lexa!" I yell and help her up. I help her run to another area. I hear the pauna land behind us. There's an area with a door and I run to it with her. She's trailing behind me and the pauna grabs her. I grab her arm. "Leave me!" Lexa yells. "No way." I say. I shoot the pauna a couple times, which makes it let go. I pull Lexa in, and I shut the door. I grab one of her swords and barricade the door with it. I walk over to Lexa and help her sit down so I can look at her leg. It's sprained and the pauna scratched it up. "You should of left me to die. Now to will die here instead of one." Lexa says. She looks at me sadly, not because she thought she was going to die but because she thinks I will. I don't need her to tell me that, I just know. "I'm still new to your culture but when someone saves your life, my people say thank you." I reply. "I'm serious Clarke. In order to lead well you must make hard choices." "Hard choices? You're telling me that?" I reply coldly. "I've seen your strength it's true. But now you waver. You couldn't kill Quint. You couldn't leave me to die. That was weakness."

"I thought love was weakness." I say. "Mockery is not the product of a strong mind Clarke." "You wanna know why I saved you?" I ask. "Because I need you." When I say this, it feels like a lie. It is true, that I need her. But I'm not telling her everything. When I look at her my heart skips a beat. It's a feeling I've never felt, not even for Finn. I can't lose her. That's why I saved her. "God forbid one of your generals become commander. You may be heartless Lexa, but you're smart." I say. "Don't worry. My spirit will chose much more wisely than that." "Your spirit?" I ask, confused. "When I die, my spirit will find the next commander." "Reincarnation. That's how you became commander." I say. "How are your leaders chosen?" As I'm about to respond I hear the Pauna banging on the door.

Me and Lexa back up against the wall. "Don't be afraid Clarke. Death is not the end." "We are not dying here. I need your spirit to stay where it is." I tell her. "Then get ready to fight." She pulls out her other sword. It's coming in. I think of a plan. "Maybe we let it in. Come on!" I yell to her to get to the wall next to the door. I take out the sword. The pauna runs in the room, right past us. We slip through the door and shut it behind us.

Next thing I know I wake up in the woods and hear the pauna. I get my gun out, sitting up. "It's ok. You're safe." I hear Lexa say. And then I remember we got out of the feeding ground and made it to safety. "How's your leg?" I ask her, hoping she's not in too much pain. "It hurts." "We should go." I say, not being able to look away from her. "That cage won't hold forever." I start to walk back to TonDC. "Wait." I hear Lexa say. I turn back to face her. "I was wrong about you Clarke. You're heart shows no sign of weakness." After she says this I think of something. A way to get our people out of Mount Weather. "We've been trying to find ways to get inside Mount Weather. But they've already let us in." I tell Lexa. "What are you talking about?" She asks. "You're army is in there, locked in cages. We just need someone to let them out." "Bellamy." "Yes." I say. I've been telling her that we need him to go on the inside to get our people out. "But if he can't get in, we can't win." "He will." I reply. "This is going to work."
