have two identities. A prim and proper role model as the heiress of a business tycoon by day, and a gamer by night.
Keeping my second identity is a burden I have to bear. As an heiress, I was taught that trivial things such as playing games were to be frowned upon. However I broke that rule when I tried it as a child, and little did I know I would become such a hardcore gamer in the future.
When virtual reality became possible it took the gaming world by storm and faction wars was one of the first RPG games introduced by virtual reality. Since I started playing Faction Wars, I became even more invested in gaming than I already was.
And now I was one of the top 10 players of faction war, and nobody knows. Except for my most trusted friend, Eve.
"You're already level 78? Xari, the game just released three months ago, have you been playing non-stop?" She held up her phone and I saw my player stats being displayed.
"That game's the only stress reliever I have, and you know how much stress that damned family is giving me." I laughed.
"Aren't you glad you don't have to act like an elegant princess around me?" She jabbed me with her arm which I pushed away, snorting.
"Sooo glad." I say sarcastically.
"Come to think of it, even your character lives a double life."
That's right, not only do I have two identities in the real world, I also do on faction war. When I started ranking up on the leaderboard with a female avatar, nobody took me seriously and as a result it served no challenge.
I took notice of that and decided to wear a mask and let other players assume that I was a guy. If they take me seriously, then beating them would be more satisfying.
"If I had just chosen a male avatar I wouldn't have this problem."
After Eve and I's meet-up I decided to head to my dorm and plan my next strategies to maintain my rank in faction war. If I wanted to remain at the top then I had to be meticulous.
I took out my trusty black notebook hidden in my drawer and opened it. Ever since I started playing I kept track of my progress in my notebook. It's funny, I was exerting so much effort in a game.
I continue, not realizing I had spent the whole night writing. The alarm blares off and I jolted in my seat. My eyes widened when I saw the time. School had started an hour ago.
Damn, am I stupid? Out of all the days I'm late it's when I'm assigned to lead the school assembly. Fantastic.
I frantically tossed all the items I think I needed for school inside my bag and ran out the door. I didn't bother showering.
This. This was the first thing that led to my demise. Little did I know how bad the consequences would be.
