Easily enough, they saw a compartment with that shy red-head boy.
"Can we sit here? " Morgan asked.
"Everywhere else is full," Harry asked.
"Come on in," the red-headed boy said hoping to make some friends. His rat was burrowed in his jacket. "I'm Ron, Ron Weasley. This is my first year at Hogwarts and I really hope I can get into Gryffindor. Who are you two?" Ron asked.
"I'm Harry, Harry Potter, and this is my, sister...." Harry said hoping that Ron wouldn't freak out and extended his hand for a handshake.
"I'm Morgan Potter ".
Unfortunately, he really freaked out.
"No way. You're are famous kids! I can't believe it. You both fought off You-Know-Who! ?" Ron asked.
"Do you have the..scars?" Ron said whispering when he said scars.
"Oh, Yeah!" Morgan chuckled and pulled her sleeves up which revealed her lightning-shaped scar. Harry removes his hair from his forehead revealing the lightning-shaped scar.
"Bloody hell, wicked," Ron said. "I heard you lived with Muggles?" Ron asked.
"What are muggles?" Harry asked with curiosity.
"Non-magical people," Ron explained. Then, a trolley lady came by their compartment.
"Is there anything you would like from the trolley, dears?" The trolley lady asked politely. Ron nodded his head no and held a bag of popcorn and a half-bitten Apple, embarrassed.
Morgan felt pity for Ronald and she made a quick decision.
"We'll take the lot." Morgan said holding out galleons. "I'm famished!" Morgan replied eyeing the treats. Even the royal cuisine never seemed this inviting. "Shall we start?" She looked at Harry and asked who just laughed and nodded.
Morgan started on a pumpkin pasty handing Ron one.
Morgan unwrapped the Chocolate Frog and picked up the card. It showed a man's face. He wore half-moon glasses, had a long, crooked nose, and flowing silver hair, beard, and mustache. Underneath the picture was the name Albus Dumbledore. She turned over her card and read:
ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
CURRENTLY HEADMASTER OF HOGWARTS
Considered by many the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the Dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel. Professor Dumbledore enjoys chamber music and tenpin bowling.
"So Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts! Seems like a famous figure in the Wizarding world."She turned to Harry and turned the card back over and saw, to her astonishment, that Dumbledore's face had disappeared.
"He's gone!" She said.
"Of course, the pictures move in the Wizarding world!" Ron said and the two smiled.
"Hey, want to see me do magic?" Ron asked to hope to impress 'The Twins Who Lived', no 'The Kids Who Lived'
"Sure!" Harry and Morgan chorused excitedly. He had just raised his wand when the compartment door slid open again. The toadless boy was back, but this time he had a girl with him. She was already wearing her new Hogwarts robes.
"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one," she said. She had a bossy sort of voice, lots of bushy brown hair, and rather large front teeth.
"We've already told him we haven't seen it," said Ron, but the girl wasn't listening, she was looking at the wand in his hand.
"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it, then."
She sat down. Ron looked taken aback. Morgan stared at her.
"Er — all right." He cleared his throat. "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow."
He waved his wand, but nothing happened. Scabbers stayed gray and fast asleep.
"Are you sure that's a real spell?" said the girl. "Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard — I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough — I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?"
She said all this very fast. Harry looked at Ron, and was relieved to see by his stunned face that he hadn't learned all the course books by heart either.
"I'm Ron Weasley," Ron muttered extending his hand but she rejected.. Then, the girl got a good look at Morgan and recognized her face.
"Holy crickets, you're Morgan Potter!" She said. "And, you're Harry Potter!" The girl added.
"I know all about you, of course — I got a few extra books for background reading, and you're in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century."
"Are we?" said Morgan and Harry, feeling dazed.
"Well, I'll be off! We will be arriving soon at school. I'd suggest getting into your robes. Ta-Ta!" Hermione said leaving the compartment.
"Well..she's rude," Ron said making Harry and Morgan giggle.
Ron, Harry, and Morgan have all changed into their robes - as Hermione told had them - and the train is finally coming to a halt. The doors begin opening, and the three of them walk onto the stone pavement.
Morgan's heart was thundering wildly in her chest. She never felt so excited or so nervous.
"Right then. First years, this way, please!Harry? Morgan?" Hagrid shouts.
Hagrid's big hairy face beamed over the sea of heads. Morgan ran towards him and hugged him. Harry and Ron approached and made the introductions when she felt something.
Hagrid breaks into a smile. "Hello, Harry and Morgan." He greets us.
"Hi, Hagrid," Morgan says as Ron catches sight of Hagrid.
"Whoa!" He exclaims, looking Hagrid up and down.
"Right then. This way to the boats. Come on now, follow me."
They begin following Hagrid, along with all the other first years. They soon come to the edge of a great black lake. Across the lake, they could see a beautiful castle, complete with turrets and towers.
"No more than four to a boat," Hagrid tells us, pointing to a fleet of small boats at the shore.
Morgan, Harry, and Ron sit in a boat with Hermione, and the boats begin rowing themselves across the lake! The closer and closer they get to the castle, the more and more excited each of them get. This is where they'll be spending most of their time, for the next seven years.
"It's unbelievable," Morgan whispers, "like something out of one of my dreams."
They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the castle until they reached a kind of underground harbor, where they clambered out onto rocks and pebbles. Then they clambered up a passageway in the rock after Hagrid's lamp, coming out at last onto smooth, damp grass right in the shadow of the castle. They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge, oak front door. Hagrid raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door. The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face and her first thought was that this was not someone to cross.
"Professor McGonagall" Morgan informs Harry. She was waiting to welcome them, first-year students.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here." She pulled the door wide. The entrance hall was so big you could have fit a whole house in it. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches like the ones at Gringotts, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors. They followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. However, they paused there.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall. "The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your Houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your House dormitory, and spend free time in your House common room.
"Trevor!" Neville said from behind Morgan. The frog, Trevor was about to jump on Morgan when Trevor was magically thrown aside. Neville went forward and grabbed Trevor.
Professor McGonagall eyed him and he backed into the crowd. She continued anyways.
"There are 4 houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its noble wizards and has produced marvelous wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn you points, while any rule-breaking will lose your house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points will win the house cup. I wish you all the best of luck. The ceremony will begin shortly." Professor McGonagall said. With that she departed, leaving the students to themselves.
"Well, well" said a voice from behind and a boy with blond hair and pale face came out form behind the crowd and stood in front of them. "The rumors are true then. Harry and Morgan Potter are really here!" He said.
"So, it's true indeed, Potters came to join us at Hogwarts. I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Draco said extending his hand to shake Harry's big he hesitated. Ron laughed a bit at him but tried to make it unnoticeable. It wasn't.
"You think my name's funny, do you? Red hair, freckles..you must be a Weasley. " Draco said as a comeback to Ron's laugh. Morgan was watching quietly trying to do something no one not even herself can explain.
Draco turned to Harry and Morgan again. "You'll find out that some Wizarding families are better than others. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, do you?" Draco said his hand still outstretched.
Harry looked up at him. "I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself!" He said and Malfoy's smirk vanished. He frowned at Harry who smiled in a mocking fashion, so similar to Morgan's.
Malfoy then stepped closer to Morgan. He just stood there staring at her with his mouth hanging open. He smiled savouring her with his eyes.
"Wow, look at yourself Potter!" Draco said smirking.
"Well I look at myself each day in the mirror! Everyone does that. Seems like you don't." Morgan said, looking Malfoy in the eye. Malfoy wasn't able to hold her gaze, he blinked.Morgan made a handshake with Draco who after that had a pink tinge on his cheek.
"You'll see." Harry said.
Morgan smirking said, "Well Malfoy, why don't you just pick the half of your self respect that fell at his feet" Morgan said jerking her head in Harry's direction, "and get the hell out of here before the other half of your self respect falls at my feet!"
Malfoy's smirk vanished and the colors faded from his face. Now it was Morgan's turn to smile. Malfoy ran back and vanished behind the crowd, probably ashamed. Cheers erupted from the crowd. Hermione hugged Morgan who just smile.
"Wow" Ron muttered, "Badass!" A voice of boy's finished. But before anyone could discover who he was Professor McGonagall came.
"Now, form a line," Professor McGonagall told the first years, "and follow me."
She begins walking, and they follow her into a Great Hall, filled with hundreds of students, sat at different tables. The grand doors leading into the Great Hall opened. It was lit by thousands and thousands of candles that were floating in midair over four long tables, where the rest of the students were sitting. These tables were laid with glittering golden plates and goblets. At the top of the hall was another long table where the teachers were sitting. Professor McGonagall led the first years up here, so that they came to a halt in a line facing the other students, with the teachers behind them. The hundreds of faces staring at them looked like pale lanterns in the flickering candlelight.
The children all huddled and walked into the hall and met up at the front standing in a line waiting to be sorted.
Morgan looked upward and saw a velvety black ceiling dotted with stars. "It looks as there's no ceiling at all," Morgan mutters.
"The ceiling isn't real," Hermione says from beside her. "It's bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts, A History"
"I think I need to read that book," Morgan says. They reach the front of the hall, and there was an old, pointed hat sitting upon a stool. After that, all that follows is silence. They're all watching the hat.
'Maybe we have to pull a rabbit from it' F.R.I.D.A.Y texts on Morgan's specs.
For confirmation F.R.I.D.A.Y shows text on Morgan's specs, that can be read from her side but during exams F.R.I.D.A.Y will not help her.
"Shut up F.R.I.D.A.Y this is not helping" Morgan said.
"What is not helping?" Hermione asks.
"Oh nothing" Morgan replies and then very suddenly, the hat twitches, and a rip bear its brim opens wide like a mouth. And it begins singing.
Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
The whole hall burst into applause as the hat finished its song. It bowed to each of the four tables and then became quite still again.
'So you just have to put on that thing! It's a lot better than I've anticipated!' Morgan heard someone's thought. Then she heard Charles.
'Morgan concentrate on the sorting!'
Professor McGonagall now stepped forward holding a long roll of parchment. "When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted," she said. "Abbott, Hannah!"
A pink-faced girl with blonde pigtails stumbled out of line, put on the hat, which fell right down over her eyes, and sat down. She places The Sorting Hat on the girls head. It took only a second when the hat shouted.
"Hufflepuff!" The Sorting hat shouted. Hannah ran down the steps and saw a table that presumably was the Hufflepuff table and kids ushered her to sit down next to them.
"Fury Ethan!" McGonagall shouted. He was also placed into Hufflepuff.
"Millicent Bulstrode!" McGonagall shouted.
"Slytherin!" The Sorting Hat shouted. More kids were placed until the twins noticed a familiar name being called.
"Hermione Granger!" McGonagall shouted. Hermione was seen whispering to herself."
McGonagall places the hat on her head. "She's mental. I'm telling you." Ron said as Morgan while I just absentmindedly nodded."Gryffindor!" The hat shouted. Hermione ran to the Gryffindor table and sat by some of Ron's siblings.
He took his seat while searching for Miss Potter. Where she has been sorted.Probably Gryffindor. He thought unaware of the fact Professor X was listening to his thoughts.
Harry looks around and spot a black haired, pale teacher looking at him, Snape. His scar starts to hurt.
"Ahh!" He and Morgan wince in pain and place his hand on his forehead. Morgan does the same with her hand.
"Harry, Morgan, what is it?" Ron asks.
"Nothing...it's nothing, we're fine." Harry says looking at Morgan.
"Ronald Weasley." Ron gulps and walks up. He sits down and the hat is put on.
"Ah! Another Weasley. I know just where to put you...Gryffindor!!" He sighs in relief and walks over to the cheering table.
Others were called until Draco Malfoy was called."Draco Malfoy!" McGonagall called.
"Slytherin!" The hat declared.
"That's just craptastic!" Morgan said and Harry stifled a laugh.
"Harry Potter!" McGonagall called this time actually taking a look at the student. The Hall was filled with whispers.
"The Harry Potter?"
"It's the boy who lived"
"What about his sister?"
"he's a potter"
"he fought off the Dark Lord".
Harry sat on the stool, the hat stayed on his head for a while.
"You're difficult to place. Your brave but you have resourcefulness that would make you fit in with Slytherin. Where to put you?" The hat asked.
"Please not Slytherin Gryffindor" Harry was whispering.
"You want Gryffindor huh? Why not?!GRYFFINDOR"
The Gryffindor table cheered louder than any other person who joined their table. They started chanting, "WE GOT A POTTER! WE GOT A POTTER!"
"Morgan Potter!" McGonagall called this time actually taking a look at the student. Kids were whispering things like "she's a potter" or "she fought off the Dark Lord". It annoyed her but she let it go. Even Dumbledore was intrigued by this performance.
The hat wasn't placed on her head. It seemed as if it was trying to decide something but couldn't.
"Difficult, very difficult. You're difficult to place, like your brother. You're very, very brave but you're very intelligent as well. Not to mention your loyalty. Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff wouldn't be a bad choice. But, your also very ambitious so Slytherin isn't totally out of the running. And the power you have makes you fit into Slytherin, "The hat said as Morgan was whispering "please be Gryffindor".
"SLYTHER-" The hat shouted, avoiding her and the entire hall gasped, Draco looked happy, and Harry looked deflated. Deep inside Severus was happy and he chuckles.
"BUT I SAID I WANTED TO BE WITH HARRY?" Morgan argued.
"You all can't take a joke now can you?" The hat replied.
" WITH BROTHER ,if you're sure..GRYFFINDOR!" The hat declared yelling, bursting Morgan's ears.
"Jess such noise can make anyone deaf before they can do anything." Morgan said making the whole High Table chuckle. Morgan made her way towards the Gryffindor table. The Weasley twins even jump from their seats and begin chanting loudly.
"WE GOT POTTERS !" Ron's twin brothers shouted. Morgan gave Harry a grinning smile and she sat next to Hermione and was waiting to watch Harry.
The Weasely twins seeing were chanting the loudest. Soon everyone was freshly sorted and the nervous tension in the air was gone. While Morgan and Harry were acquainting with the others, Snape was pale.
"Welcome!" Albus Dumbledore says as he stands from his chair. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And they are Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you!"
Everyone claps and cheers, but Morgan was not sure whether she should laugh or not. But then, the table is magically filled with all sorts of different food.
"Wow." Harry and Morgan say in unison. Ron stuffs his face. Dumbledore's strange speech seems to float to the back of Morgan's mind.
'i didn't know what he meant?'
'Never mind his words. Goodnight'
Everyone dugs in. Morgan looked at Harry and smiled. She was taught to eat with manners and slowly by Wanda but no one around seemed to know so. Ignoring her aunt she started eating.
While eating Morgan listens in on the conversations happening around them.
A tiny boy, named Seamus Finnigan, speaks. "I'm half and half. Me dad's a Muggle. Mom's a witch. Bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out."
Neville, the boy with a toad, laughs.
Morgan was sitting next to Percy, Ron's older brother. She leans over. "Say, Percy, who's that teacher talking to Professor Quirrell"
"Oh, that's Professor Snape, head of Slytherin house"
"What's does he teach?" Morgan asks.
"Potions. But everyone knows it's the Dark Arts he fancies. He's been after Quirrells job for years."
Ron, having just finished a chicken wing, reaches into the bowl for more, and a ghostly head pops out. "Ahh"
"Hello! How are you? Welcome to Gryffindor."
Numerous ghosts come pouring from the walls, sailing over the tables. 'There are apparently ghosts now too. Ms Stark,' F.R.I.D.A.Y shows and Morgan chuckles.
"Hello, Sir Nicholas. Have a nice summer?" Percy asks.
"Dismal. Once again, my request to join the headless hunt has been denied." He begins to leave.
"Hey, I know you! You're Nearly Headless Nick!" Ron tells him.
"I prefer Sir Nicholas if you don't mind."
"Nearly headless?" Morgan asks.
"How can you be nearly headless?" Hermione adds.
"Like this." He grabs his head and pulls it to the side. His head is hanging on just by a thread.
"Oh my." Morgan sigh out, in awe of what she just witnessed. "I WON'T BE EATING NOW." She said putting her specs down.
"He's staring at you sunshine," Harry said, who was sitting in front of Morgan.
"Who?" Morgan asked again. The Weasley twins looked at her and pointed funnily at Snape. She looked at him. They had eye contact which broke in seconds. She smiled at him. He replied with a gentle face and he smiled a bit back.
The twins and Percy were shocked and explained that this was the first time Snape smiled.
While taking to Qurriell he had indeed found himself staring at her. She saw the Weasely twins and Harry pointing him. Then her eyes and his met but the contact broke. She smiled and he smiled a bit back. Probably the twins and Percy would be shocked. Then he noticed something, the way Potters were eating reminded me of the royal muggles. But why?? Hequestion.
"He's hard to understand?" Morgan questioned herself.
Then Snape heard , He's hard to understand?
Then his eyes fell on Miss Potter. She was reminding him of James. The way she was talking laughing, she was not Lily. He saw the Weasleys are too near Morgan and he was getting irritating. He shots a deathly stare at them except Morgan and they backed away for a bit.
The food all disappears after a short while and Dumbledore speaks to them again.
"Ahem - just a few start of term notices to give you. First years should note that the forest in the grounds is forbidden to all pupils. And a few of the older students would do well to remember that as well." He says, his eyes flashing in the direction of the Weasley twins.
"I have also been asked by Mr. Filch, the caretaker, to remind you all that no magic should be used between classes in the corridors," Dumbledore continues as he looks at Pikachu briefly.
"Quidditch trials will be held in the second week of term. Anyone interested in playing for their house teams should contact Madam Hooch. And finally, I must tell you that this year, the third-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a very painful death."
Harry and a few others laugh, but Morgan simply shares a disbelieving glance with Hermione.
"And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song!" Dumbledore cries. Dumbledore flicks his wand and a long golden ribbon flies out of it, which twist into snake-like words.
"Everybody pick their favourite tune, and off we go!"
With that, everyone begins bellowing:
Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now, they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest
And learn until our brains rot"
Everyone finishes the song as different times. And at last, only Fred and George are left singing to a very slow funeral march. Morgan looks at them.
"Ah, music," Dumbledore says as he wipes his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot! CHOP CHOP"
The Gryffindors all stand and follow Percy through the loud crowds out from the Great Hall and up the marble staircase.
Hermione is still beside Morgan and Pikachu on Morgan's shoulders and she is excitedly pointing at the moving portraits.'A lady in portrait wrinks at Harry.
"Harry she likes you!" Morgan whispered to Harry who became red.
"Peeves," Percy whispers them as floating candles begin zooming towards him. "A Poltergeist. Peeves - show yourself!"
A loud, rude sound, like air being let out of a balloon answers.
"Do you want me to go to the Bloody Baron?"
With a loud pop a little man with wicked dark eyes appears, floating cross-legged in the air.
"Ooooooooooh!" He says, with an evil laugh, "Ickle Firsties! What fun!"
He swoops down at them and they all duck instantly.
"Go away, Peeves or the Baron'll hear about this, I mean it!" Percy barks
Peeves sticks his tongue out at Percy and vanishes.
"You want to watch out for Peeves," Percy says, "the Bloody Baron's the only one who can control him, he won't even listen to us prefects. Here we are."
At the very end or the corridor hangs a portrait of a very fat woman in a pink silk dress.
"Password?" She asks.
"Caput Draconis." Percy answers, making the portrait swing forward. They all scramble through the hole in the wall into the Gryffindor common room.
It is a cosy, round room full of squashy armchair, decorated in the colours scarlet and yellow.
Morgan hugs Harry before Percy directs them up to our dormitories. At the top of a spiral staircase, the other girls and Morgan reach a room filled with poster beds with deep red curtains.
Their trunks are here also.
Hermione's bed is right beside Morgan, and the other girls' beds are close by.
' Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil' F.R.I.D.A.Y shows, 'as our room mates.' Morgan thinks.
Too tired to even speak to each other, they change and lay down and went into
Later that night when Severus was patrolling the corridors when he saw an open window at the girl's dormitory. He observed it and it was Miss Potter. He observed she was sitting all by herself, looking at the moon.
"Beautiful girl, isn't she Severus?" He was surprised that Dumbledore was here but he didn't show it.
"What are you up to now?" he asked. His blue eyes twinkled at Severus's thoughts, he always reads them, but he wonders how.
"You know, I saw you earlier staring sternly at the Weasleys, they have taken a liking to her." His words stabbed him directly.
"Is this your plan?" Severus asked. He smirked.
"Hmm... You probably want her now don't you? Be honest, what is it that you find her interesting?" He asked out of the blue.
Severus's eyes widened as he asked him the most personal question ever. Dumbledore knew Severus couldn't lie to Dumbledore; he is the headmaster after all. "Well, her eyes, is very much more passionate than her mother's, her face and hair, so mysterious, her attitude towards people. "
