No matter... how many times Eva called out his name deliberately in her teary soft voice, there was not a single response from Zeus. He lied stiff and all frigid on the bed, like a magnificent handsome prince immersed in the world of deep sleep after fighting alone a long, exhausting battle.
"Zeus? Can't you answer me just once? Can't you open your eyes? Please...Please look at me with your worrisome big eyes the way you always did? Please?" Her whimpering voice sounded much saddened as she caressed his arm softly, holding it within her fragile grasp.
"It's of no use. No matter, how much you summon him...He won't wake up..." Czar walked closer to her with his slow, gentle steps and conveyed his answer in a deep note. His facial eloquence looked much serious with his eyes fixated on his unconscious porcelain-white pale face.
Her heart was aching in agony to watch her beloved one in such a miserable state. Restlessly, she took a seat next to him on the bed, and with her trembling right palm, she softly caressed his cold side face with tear droplets dripping down her eyes.
"Why? Why have you grown so weak, Zeus? The way...you...you protected my life yesterday... the way you fought for me... the way you didn't even give a damn about your life... at least...at least... let me thank you properly... You...always look after me from afar... but you never expressed your concerns before me... Why... Why are you so kind, Zeus? Why do the kindest people have to suffer so much?" She was murmuring her words on her own, mourning for him helplessly.
Quietly, Czar marched nearby them and breathed out in a huff. She was grieving out for him too hard staring at Zeus intensively and in some part of his heart, he was feeling a bit pitiful for her suffering. With a deep poignant gaze towards her, he breathed out in a huff before conversing further.
"This...This fool almost had died yesterday for the sake of protecting you...If he hadn't been the strongest one of us, probably, he wouldn't have been able to make it... The injuries were severe. His gut was pierced thoroughly in a brutal attempt... His whole upper body is bruised with claw marks... He is perhaps in the weakest phase of his life now, battling for survival..." His voice grew heavier and intense while he was explaining his vulnerable state to her.
Eva was quivering in agony with her jowls trembling nonchalantly to hear such a painful declamation from him. She tightened her grip over his cold, frigid arm and continued staring at him widening her gaze.
"Why did you do it, Zeus? Why do you never bother about yourself when it comes to me? Why? Why did you intend to sacrifice your life so easily? You...You should have left me to die... At least...At least I didn't have to watch you in this miserable condition...hic... It's...all because of me... Hic... I... should have died yesterday... How am I going to live if something happens to you?" She was sobbing bitterly, clenching her fist hard with her tears rolling down on his stiff knuckle.
Czar breathed out in a huff quite heavily and slowly knelt down on the ground before her while she was grieving for him. She was crying lowering her grimace down and didn't bother to raise her chin up to look at him.
"Why are you blaming everything on yourself, little duckling?" He sounded much gentle, with his dark dubious eyes fixated at her sorrowful face. "You didn't ask to be saved... He...He did everything on his own... You are not the one to be blamed at the end of the day... It was his firm choice to keep your safety above everything..." From his conversing, he seemed to be consoling her deep.
Slowly, Eva raised her chin up and cryptically glanced at Czar, blinking her teary eyes a few times. Somehow she sensed a breeze of comfort from the way he was trying to console her grieved heart. Inhaling a heavy breath inside, she murmured her answer, "but...but he tossed his life away...just for me... He gave up on his life for me...I...I feel so fucking helpless--"
"I don't know why but...You are indeed special to him, little duckling...There lies no doubt in it... As far I knew him, he is the kind of guy...who would bother to help someone stuck in a distressed condition. No matter...how much the person could beg for help...But...Zeus wouldn't even budge to look at him... That's the kind of cold-hearted soul he possesses..." Somehow, his verdict sounded very intense and morose while he peeped a glance at him. The way he conveyed his answer, it seemed as if he was holding some vague mystic grudges against him buried deep down in his heart.
Eva quietly listened to his opinion without uttering a single word in response. From his answer, she could clearly depict, there were unknown, dark mystified secrets encircling the whole mansion, involving both the lives of Zeus and Czar. Something felt strange and off between them.
After conversing his statement, slowly Czar stood up from the ground and took a deep breath in. With a stern look in his eyes, he gazed firmly at her and muttered his words in a low pitch, "we can't waste much time here anymore. I will be waiting outside the room at the door... Finish your greetings a bit faster and come outside. I will knock on the door twice if I see any danger approaching us." He sounded very rigid, blurting out his reply swiftly, walking out of the room in giant bold footsteps.
Eva sat all stiff, holding his arm tight and caressing his knuckle. Slowly, she shifted her gaze towards his unconscious body and took a deep look at the portion of his bare chest which was wrapped in bandages holding the claw marks. She tenderly placed her right arm on the portion of his chest, residing his heart, and touched it.
After a moment of silence, slowly she leaned her head a bit closer to him and placed a soft tender kiss on his chest, resting her head softly over his chest.
"Zeus... I am sorry... But, I have...fallen in love with you... I love you so freaking much...It hurts... It hurts to watch you so weak... It hurts my heart so bad..." Her tears dripped down on his bare chest, as she murmured her sad helpless confession.
