Children of Earth:Day Five

Recording...

"There's one thing I always meant to ask Jack and Jared. Back in the old days, I wanted to know about that Doctor of theirs. The man who appears out of nowhere and saves the world. Except sometimes he doesn't. All those times in history when there was no sign of him, I wanted to know why not. But I don't need to ask any more. I know the answer now. Sometimes the Doctor must look at this planet and turn away in shame. I'm recording this in case anyone ever finds it, so you can see. You can see how the world ended." Gwen said.

Davies' home…

The Prime Minister speaks to the nation.

"Today, we're taking steps to safeguard your children. The schools are being opened again, and we urge all of you to send your children back to their classes straight away. Government representatives will be visiting certain schools to discuss a series of inoculations." Green said, on TV.

"Jared hasn't talked to us in a while." Chris said. "What do we do?"

"We protect all these kids." Maria said.

"That's the plan." Tsubasa said. "He is the higher authority, planet wise."

"You're not going, either. You're staying put, just like your Uncle Ianto said. Don't trust any of them." Rhiannon said.

"But the man said we got to go." Mica said.

"And I know for a fact he's lying."

"These inoculations are to protect your children. These inoculations are safe. These inoculations will guarantee no repeat of the problems of the past four days." Green said, on TV.

"David, on your feet. Go to the Baxters opposite, then go to Sally's, then go to Mrs Singh. Tell 'em we'll have the kids, only free of charge. You, blue haired girl, Tsubasa, make sure David doesn't get taken." Rhiannon said.

"Okay." Tsubasa said, holding out her Relic, so she can put on her Symphogear outfit. "Imyuteus Ame no Habakiri tron."

"It's ten quid a kid." Johnny said.

"Shut it, you. And run. Tell them my brother works for the government. You three girls work for the government too, right? They said it's not safe." Rhiannon said.

"Yes, Mum." David said, leaving the house with Tsubasa.

Downing Street...

The broadcast is being made under the stern stare of US General Pierce.

"So I ask of you now to cooperate, to send your children back to school, and to resume your lives as normal." Green said.

Frobisher home…

"We'd better get ready for school, then." Lilly said.

"No, darling. Your father said stay at home with me." Anna said.

"Why? What's so different about us?"

"And as ever, I thank you for your patience, your understanding and your faith." Green said, on TV.

COBRA…

"We've isolated two thousand six hundred primary schools, sir." Riley said,

"I'm sorry, but you'll address me in all matters concerning this operation." Pierce said.

"This information is for Mister Green."

"You and Mister Green and this government have proven yourselves incapable of handling this crisis. All decisions will now go through me." Pierce said, taking the chair for the meeting. "You were saying?"

"We have two thousand six hundred primary schools listed here. We're mobilising transport. At twelve hundred hours, the British Army will take the children from their schools to the designated rendezvous points."

"What if they refuse, the soldiers? We could have a mutiny on our hands." Green said.

"They've been told. Any soldier refusing to do his duty will make his own family liable." Pierce said.

"So we take them to the rendezvous points, but what then?" Riley asked.

"We're about to find out. They're entering Thames House right now."

Floor 13…

Colonel Oduya sniffs.

"Disinfectant doesn't work. You can still smell it. There were bodies lying ten deep around those doors." Dekker said.

"Mister Dekker, I take it. You managed to survive." Oduya said.

"I just stood back, sir. A strategy that's worked all my life. Now then, best not keep it waiting."

Contact room…

UNIT soldiers are stationed around the room.

"I seek audience with the 456. My name is Colonel Augustus Oduya of the Unified Intelligence Taskforce. If I might speak." Oduya said, while the 456 thrashes and vomits in the containment chamber. "We have no choice but to initiate your plan, may God help me. But I need to ask. We have designated rendezvous points, selected army bases in all participating countries, but once the children are assembled, what then? How do you collect them?"

"As we arrived. Observe." The 456 said.

COBRA…

"Some sort of transportation device taking them God knows where." Pierce said.

"Then let me ask, not as a representative, as a father. You need these children. We've seen you hooked up to that boy, but why? Are they keeping you alive? Oduya asked, on the monitor.

Contact room...

"No." The 456 said.

"Then what are they for?" Oduya asked.

"The hit."

"I don't understand."

"The hit. They create chemicals. The chemicals are good."

"Good in what way?"

"We feel good. The chemicals are good."

"They're like drugs?"

COBRA…

"They're trading in drugs?" Green asked.

Contact room...

"You're shooting up on children? Our children?" Oduya asked.

COBRA…

"Let's not forget, your government started this trade. You opened the market over forty years ago. Are the troops on standby?" Pierce asked.

"Yes, sir." Riley said.

"Then we begin."

The time is 08:51.

"The government claims it's Britain back to normal. Schools across the country are being reopened and parents are being urged to return their children to a normal routine. The inoculation programme will begin at midday, and the World Health Organisation has issued a statement guaranteeing the safety and beneficial effects of the treatments. Critics are still demanding more information, but the government is simply asking for trust." Louise Minchin said, on TV.

Thames House…

Even the cafeteria has bodybags still on the floor. Frobisher and Bridget sit down opposite Jack, Gwen, Jared, Sayaka, and Kyoko. Hibiki and Miku entered the room in the outfits they fight in.

"The threat still stands." Gwen said.

"Haven't we gone past that?" Frobisher asked.

"My husband is still out there with everything you've done recorded on his laptop. One word from me and he will release that information to the public with Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi by his side, protecting him." Gwen said, determined.

"What do you think Torchwood, the Puella Magi Holy Quintet, and Symphogear are now? Do you think you're still players?" Frobisher asked, looking at Gwen, Hibiki, and Sayaka.

"We can try." Hibiki said. "We can stop you. And we can save the children."

"We're at a tipping point right now. Civilisation's about to fall into hell. You want to start that descent a little earlier, go ahead."

"He's right, girls. Look at what happened. I became a hopeless mess. We lost Ianto, and while we were here. Team Mikazuki Villa almost, they almost. They almost lost Tsuruno Yui." Jared said, looking at the Magical Girls in the room. "And if I didn't fetch you, Sayaka, along with Madoka and Homura. Kyoko, you didn't need much convincing either. I had a gut feeling that the Wings of Magius would be keeping three of the girls I care about locked in, in Mitakihara City."

"What do we do?" Hibiki asked.

"Get in contact with Madoka and Homura. You four can use telepathy like me. Tell them, tell them we lost."

Victoria Tower Gardens / Thames House…

Rhys is sitting on a bench with Madoka and Homura, with the Houses of Parliament behind them, to the north.

"Hello? Yeah, us, we're bloody freezing." Rhys said, phone near his ear

"It, it is a bit cold." Homura said, sadly.

"Where are you?" Madoka asked. "Are you okay?"

"Do you want us to send the files?" Rhys asked

"It's too late, you guys." Miku said, sadly. "They killed Ianto. And it wasn't just Clem they killed. They also killed Ianto. I'm sorry, he's dead."

Thames House…

"What about Lois?" Jared asked, kicking his foot back and forth.

"I'm afraid Miss Habiba is in police custody, charged with espionage." Frobisher said.

"What about the Carters? Jack's daughter and his grandson. Shirabe Tsukuyomi and Kirika Akatsuki?" Jared asked.

"They're free to go."

"Ianto Jones, he's got family back in South Wales, a sister, has she been told?" Jack asked.

"We're not releasing any of the names, not yet." Frobisher said.

"So, let Gwen and Symphogear tell her." Jared said, sadly. "Like, come on, you said the world is going to hell any second, Frobisher. But before it does, we need a second of grace."

"Jared's right." Jack said. "Just take Gwen home with Hibiki, Miku, Shirabe, and Kirika, please. Jared and I can't look at them anymore."

Jack hugs Gwen and Jared hugs Hibiki, Miku, Shirabe, and Kirika goodbye at London Heliport, then the five are flown back to Cardiff with Rhys Williams. Jack, Jared, Madoka, Homura, Sayaka, and Kyoko are put into handcuffs.

Police Station cells…

"Cell M3, Captain Harkness, Cell, M4, Jared Shay, Cell M5, Madoka Kaname, Cell, M6, Homura Akemi, Cell M7, Sayaka Miki, Cell M8, Kyoko Sakura, nine fifty am." A policeman said.

"Captain, Jared, is that you? Captain Harkness, Jared, it's me. It's Lois. It's Lois. Captain? Jared? What are they doing? What's happening out there? Can you hear me? What do we do? Captain? Jared?" Lois asked, nearby.

Ashton Down monitoring station…

Johnson releases Alice, Steven, Shirabe, and Kirika from their cell, "Alice, you might want to take a look at this. And Shirabe, Kirika, you're free to go. Your friends are waiting for you in Cardiff."

"Right." Shirabe said, exiting the cell.

"Okay." Kirika said, happily.

Shirabe and Kirika are being escorted out. The film taken inside the containment chamber of the boy attached to the 456.

"Steven, come on." Alice said.

"I want to see." Steven said.

"Not now, darling, this is for grownups."

"Suzanne, get him a Coke or something." Johnson said.

"Received and confirmed." A woman said, over the walkie talkie.

"It's inside Thames House. All recorded by Torchwood, the Puella Magi Holy Quintet, and Symphogear. They're inventive, I'll give them that. That's a child, abducted in 1965. Now they want more, millions more. And in two hours' time, the government is handing them over."

Prime Minister's office…

Frobisher knocks nervously on the door.

"Yes?" Green asked.

"You asked to see me, sir?" Frobisher asked.

"Take a seat."

"A terrible day. Sir, I was wondering…" Frobisher said.

"Your name was chosen, John." Green said.

"Right. Good. In what way chosen?"

"The inoculation story seems to have gained some currency. Might even be called popular."

"Indeed. And what's that got to do with me?"

"Your children will be inoculated."

"I see."

"In two hours, there will be selected news media at your house. You'll be seen to offer your children for treatment. This will be broadcast on every network channel at twelve o'clock midday."

"But there is no inoculation."

"This action will help the public and show them no cause for unrest." Green said.

"You mean I pretend they're going to be inoculated?" Frobisher asked.

"Your children will then be taken to one of the designated rendezvous points and they'll become part of the, the process. It's our duty now to think beyond this terrible day. And once it's over, the government must be seen as victims of the 456. We must be seen to have lost."

"If you put me on camera, I will tell people the truth."

"Then your daughters would know where they're going. Best not."

"I can't do it! I won't! You can't make me."

"In which case, your children will be taken without you."

"But you've seen what they do to them! They're just girls, sir. They're just girls. They're not, they're not, they're not…"

"I'm sorry, John. I'm really, I'm really very sorry. And I'm really very busy." Green said, sadly.

Home Office…

"What did he want?" Bridget asked.

"Bridget, I need a Requisition 31." Frobisher asked.

"What for?"

"Quick as you can."

"But what for, sir?" Bridget asked.

"Requisition 31, thank you." Frobisher said.

Stores…

"Requisition 31." Bridget said.

"Just sign there." The officer said.

Bridget returns to Frobisher and hands him a box. He takes it, kisses her on the cheek and leaves.

Cardiff...

PC Andy Davidson meets the helicopter, "Croeso I Gymru."

Police car 1/ Police car 2…

"Everyone's on standby. It's red alert. Riot gear and everything. All ready to mobilise, except no one's saying why. What's going on?" Andy asked.

"Hi." Clara said, looking back at Hibiki, Shirabe, and Kirika. "I'm Clara Oswald. A friend of Jared's. Well, future girlfriend."

"Clara?" Hibiki asked.

"Who are you?" Kirika asked.

"She said he's Jared's friend." Shirabe said, sadly.

"And you're our driver." Miku said, smiling. "Who are you really?"

"The Doctor, he called me and Jared the Impossible Duo." Clara said, laughing a little. "It's spoilers, but let's just say. He knew we were made of each other. At the time of meeting Jared, I fell in love with the Doctor. And I also had a boyfriend at the time. His name was Danny Pink. And he died."

"Bloody hellfire. Who's the father?" Andy asked.

"Oh, I'm slapping you, yeah?" Rhys asked.

"It's Torchwood. That's what did it. They give you Retcon and chemicals and radiation and God knows what. Bloody Pill didn't stand a chance. That's what Torchwood does, you see. It ruins your life." Gwen said. "And you saw Jared, it ruined his life the most. Losses on top of losses. In such a short span of time."

"How is it ruined?"

"You want to have kids in a world like this, Rhys?"

"You're not getting rid of it."

"Is that right. Take the next left. Ianto's sister lives off the Cromwell Estate."

COBRA…

"Eleven o'clock. One hour to go." Riley said.

"Are we in position?" Pierce asked.

"Troops are moving in, sir." Riley said.

The screen shows Stage Three active. Wittington Road Primary School, Headteacher Nora Shariff. Gender mixed, age range 3-11, number of pupils on roll 1218. Religious character non-denominational, Specialist status not applicable. Key stage 2 average 22.1

Classroom…

Maths - two times table.

"Two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty, eighteen, sixteen, fourteen, twelve, ten, eight, twenty, eighteen, sixteen, fourteen, twelve, ten, eight, six, four, two, zero." The children said.

Meanwhile, the press photograph John Frobisher arriving home.

Police Station cells…

Bridget is shown into Lois' cell, and a chair is provided for her, "Thank you. I've come to tell you how we met."

"Who?" Lois asked.

"How I met John Frobisher. It was thirty years ago. You weren't even born. I was on attachment to the Civil Service, only for six months. And just down the corridor, there he was. You wouldn't think it to look at him now, but he was a clumsy thing. Always losing his key. Mister Swales never thought he'd amount to much, but I thought, well, keep an eye on that one. And all the others came and went. The high flyers, they burnt out or went on to something better. And do you know what John Frobisher did? He kept working. Head down, worked hard, all his life. It was another ten years before we actually worked in the same office. He asked for me. I didn't think he even knew my name. And we made quite the team. I'm not saying he was perfect. You know that better than me. But he worked hard. He always worked hard. I don't think that's valued enough these days, hard work. And he was a good man. I want you to know that. John Frobisher was a good man. Because when the history of this is written, they'll talk about the ministers, and the soldiers, and the things with numbers for names, and I think people will forget how very good he was. I want you to remember him like that. If ever you think of John Frobisher, just remember that it wasn't his fault." Bridget said.

Frobisher goes upstairs to Lilly's bedroom where his wife and daughters are waiting for him, with the gun that Bridget got for him with the Requisition 31, and closes the door on us. Three gunshots, a pause, then a fourth.

"Now, I think I should get back to work." Bridget said.

Housing Estate…

"Rhys, you stay here with Shirabe and Kirika. Give us a shout if anything happens." Gwen said.

"Like what?" Kirika asked. "What could happen here?"

"You heard her." Shirabe said, smiling. "We keep an eye out for danger."

"Miku, what do we do now?" Hibiki asked.

"We make sure the kids are safe." Miku said, happily. "Just watch my back."

"And I'll watch yours." Hibiki said. "My sunshine."

"I still can't believe I'm fighting by your side."

"This time, we're saving kids."

"Well, in which case, do not say." Gwen said, annoyed.

"Well, that proves my point." Andy said.

"Look, listen, there's a lot more going on. You've just got to trust us. Okay. She's got two kids. We need to find out where they are. That's why we need a car. We might have to pick them up from school and take them back to mine, okay?"

"Back to yours? What for?"

"Andy, we've got to look after these kids. Just do what I say. Please." Gwen said, as Rhiannon answers the doorbell.

"Hello, I'm Police Constable Andrew…" Andy said.

"You're not shutting me down. They've got food, they've got drinks, proper drinks. And I got permission off their parents. Come on, have a look. I'm not apologising." Rhiannon said, moving out of the way.

Davies' home…

"Johnny." Rhiannon said.

Johnny is playing a video game, "Go and do a proper job."

"I know I need a licence for a crèche. I'm not thick. This is emergency circumstances, right? I'm not trusting the telly."

"Can we talk in private?" Hibiki asked.

"They're not even paying, so it can't be illegal, right?" Rhiannon asked.

"No. I know. It's not about the kids. We just need a word, if we could." Andy said.

"How many kids are there?" Miku asked.

"Nineteen." Johnny said.

"But what are they doing here?" Hibiki asked. "Why are they here?"

"Well, they're not gonna go to school. No way. If they want 'em, they'll have to come and get 'em." Johnny said.

"We just need a word." Andy said.

Gwen recalls what Jack whispered into her ear at the heliport.

Heliport...

"They've got kids. Ianto's niece and nephew. Save them. Jared already asked Symphogear to help. They agreed. On your command." Jack said.

COBRA…

Noon.

"Do we begin?" Riley asked.

"We've got no choice." Green said.

"You don't give the orders, Mister Green. Stage one. Mobilise." Pierce said.

School...

Army trucks with armed soldiers escort the buses to the target schools.

"I don't care who you are, you haven't got the authority to just march in here and...Mister Patel, they can't just. They said inoculations, not. Where are you taking them? Excuse me, where are you taking them?" A teacher asked.

"What's going on? What you doing?" A mother asked.

"Stay on the other side of the road. Thank you." A soldier said.

"But my boy's in there."

"You can't take them off the school premises. You just can't! Where are you taking them? You can't." The teacher said.

One boy tries to make a break for it, but a soldier grabs him.

"Christopher! Christopher! That's my son. That's my bloody son." The mother said.

"You can't take them off the school premises." The teacher said, as the children are driven away past their panic-stricken parents.

Davies' home…

"I'm sorry." Miku said, sadly. "But Ianto, he died."

The sad news has been broken to Rhiannon and Johnny.

"It's okay. It's okay. Let it out. He didn't say anything about my car, did he?" Johnny asked.

"Nope." Hibiki said, frowning.

"We're sorry." Miku said, grabbing Hibiki's hand.

"No. There's something else. Something he wanted us to tell you. And I'm sorry, it's kind of urgent." Gwen said.

"You lot can get out." Rhiannon said. "You girls in metal armor too."

"But we…" Chris said, annoyed.

"Chris." Hibiki said, looking at the purple haired Symphogear user.

"I knew Ianto properly. I've worked with him for years." Gwen said.

"Come on. No. Leave her alone." Johnny said.

"No. I did. I really I did. We were a team. We did all these things together. And he'd always be fussing about his bloody coffee, yeah?" Gwen asked.

"Yeah." Rhiannon said.

"And he'd be talking about you. All the time. You and the kids. And his dad. That's Ianto, isn't it? He was always so proud of his dad."

"What did he say about him?"

"About his job and things."

"What job was that?"

"He said he was a master tailor."

"He worked in Debenhams. If Ianto gave you that old shit, then you didn't know him at all."

Ashton Down…

The soldiers are playing football with Steven.

Johnson brings Alice a drink, "Here you go."

"Thanks." Alice said.

"It's started." Johnson said.

"Jesus."

COBRA…

"Numbers?" Pierce asked.

"We're looking at an uptake of about sixty percent. As predicted, a lot of the children in the target area have stayed at home." Riley said.

"Then we'd better go and get them. Stage two. Mobilise."

Davies' home…

Rhys, Shirabe, Kirika, and Tsubasa see the army trucks arriving, and runs to the house.

"I swear on our lives, you have to get those kids out of this house." Gwen said.

"You do." Hibiki said, smiling. "Is there anywhere safe you could take them?"

"Gwen, Symphogear, now, come on." Andy said.

"What?" Hibiki asked, looking at Tsubasa.

"They're here." Tsubasa said.

Housing Estate…

"Oh, God. Look, we haven't got time to explain, okay? But they are coming for your kids. I swear." Gwen said.

"Don't be stupid." Johnny said.

"Shut up." Rhiannon said.

"They're going to come into your house and they're going to take your kids, and we're sorry, but you've got to believe us. That's why Ianto died, okay? He was trying to stop them. They're gonna come and they're gonna take your kids. You'll never see them again. Never." Gwen said.

Ashton Down…

"Hey." Steven said.

"Hey." A man said.

"He'll be fine. The nice kids are safe. If you're gonna get rid of ten percent, then take the ten percent you don't want. All those kids on street corners, we've finally got rid of them." Johnson said.

"While everyone else just stays indoors? Ninety percent just hugging their kids, not making a sound, just like they did before. I don't even know your name." Alice said.

"I protect the state. I was brought up to believe in and protect the state."

"Not much good now, are you? Even if ninety percent look the other way, what sort of world are you leaving behind? I swear to you, if your duty is to protect the state above and beyond any other authority, then the one person you need right now is Jack Harkness and his friend, Jared Shay. I believe Jared Shay has friends, he needs them to keep him grounded."

Police Station cells...

The custody officer is checking on his guests when soldiers burst in.

"On the floor. On the floor. Stay down. Go. Go. Go." A soldier said.

They open Jack's cell, Jared's cell, and the Holy Quintet's cell and drag them out.

"The hell's going on?!" Kyoko exclaimed, trying to break free. "What are you doing?"

"Move." The soldier said.

"Captain! Jared!" Lois said.

"Um, what's going on?" Homura asked.

"I don't know." Sayaka said. "Do you?"

The blue haired Magical Girl looked at the fanboy who is quiet the entire time. Jack, Jared, and the four Magical Girls are picked up by helicopter.

Dekker's storeroom…

Johnson's black-clad soldiers are gathering materials.

"Here, what are you doing?" Dekker asked.

They knock him out.

Davies' home…

"Nineteen kids." Maria said, as they get the children into their coats. "The proper word for this, I believe they're spies."

"Yeah, they're spies. Hush now, darling. Nice and quiet. Don't make a sound, just like a game, yeah?" Gwen asked.

"Alpha one eight six to Control. Is anyone there?" Andy asked, speaking into his walkie talkie.

"Fingers on lips. Now, you don't make a noise until we get there, okay? You stay nice and quiet, and I'll get you some sweets, yeah?" Rhiannon asked.

"Where is it?" Hibiki asked. "The place we're taking the kids."

"It's down by the field. It's all boarded up." Rhiannon said.

"Right, look. We've got to go right now." Gwen said.

"Okay. Come on, everyone, David and Mica."

"Alpha one eight six to Control. Can you hear me?" Andy asked.

"We're playing spies. Now, come on. That's it. No one makes a sound." Rhiannon said.

"Are you coming? Andy?" Gwen asked.

Housing Estate…

"Control, this is Alpha one eight six. What's going on?" Andy asked.

"Take it easy. Take it easy, come on. Hurry, come on. Come on. Keep walking. Rhi." Johnny said.

"Seilien coffin Airgetlám tron." Maria said, holding out her Relic.

The six Symphogear wielders and the one Faust Robe users transformed to put on their armor, as the soldiers break down doors.

"What the hell are you doing?" A woman asked, from inside a house.

"You take them. I'm going out the front. Somebody's got to stop them." Johnny said.

"He's right, there's seven of us." Tsubasa said, holding out her sword.

"We have to save the kids." Kirika said, smiling. "Come on."

"No, Johnny, you lot. Don't be stupid." Rhiannon said.

"It's not just us, you daft sod. You three, the one in the red, the one in blue, and the one in light blue, with me." Johnny said, while Gwen, Rhiannon, Hibiki, Miku, Shirabe, and Kirika take the children round the back of the block. "Danno. Where's Richie? Go get him, get Sammy, get all the boys."

"What's happening? What is it? What's wrong? What's wrong?" A man asked.

"All that stuff on the news, all that inoculation stuff, it's bollocks, right? The government has sold us out. They're coming to get our kids, and we're not getting them back, boys, right? We got to stop them. We got to stop them." Johnny said.

"You heard him." Chris said. "You're gonna lose your kids. Now come on. And don't stand still!"

The soldiers form up with riot shields as the unemployed fathers march towards them with Tsubasa, Maria, and Chris. Children are carried out of a house, screaming and kicking. Bricks are thrown, then punches. Andy stands there, powerless.

"No! Give him back. Give him back." A woman said.

Then Andy takes off his police equipment and joins in the fight against the soldiers. The civilians and Tsubasa, Maria, and Chris lose.

Old building…

Hibiki closes up the corrugated iron door behind them, "We should be safe. I know we will"

"Oh, it's stinking." David said, annoyed.

"Keep your voice down." Rhiannon said.

"Yeah, what we need you to do is to be as quiet as you possibly can, like mice." Gwen said.

Ashton Down…

Dekker is brought down the corridor in handcuffs, then Jack, Jared, and the four Magical Girls entered.

"Um, we're, we're reaching the end." Jared said, looking back at Madoka, Homura, Sayaka, and Kyoko. "We are."

"You okay?" Sayaka asked.

"How, how many times do I have to tell you? No, I'm, I'm not."

"Introvert much." Kyoko said, a Pocky in her mouth. "What happened to the outgoing side you had? When we first met."

"Sorry. Would you…" Alice said, handing Steven to a woman, Madoka, and Homura. "I'll be back. Madoka, Homura, you two and her can look after Steven for me."

Into a large room. Dekker is unhandcuffed.

"This should be everything you need. And if it's not, we'll find it." Johnson said.

"What are we looking for?" Sayaka asked.

"Wavelengths. The 456 are named after a wavelength, and that's got to be the key to fighting back." Johnson said.

"You're wasting your time. There's nothing you can do. I've analysed those transmissions for forty years and never broke 'em." Dekker said.

"Umi Sonoda, set up." Jared said, looking down at his music note pendant, before his clothes changed to have his suit of armor on top.

He made Ebb and Flow appear in its bow form.

"Non Lethal Stun Mode." Umi said, and Jared shot Dekker in the leg with an arrow.

"Oh, shut up. Seriously. I've had a hell of a week. And you're lucky this even had that mode." Jared said, angrily.

"What do you think, Captain? She told me the both of you were good. Was she right?" Johnson asked.

"Well, she is right. I am, or I was good. A long time ago." Jared said, laughing a little. "Let's get to work, Jack. We need access to the Torchwood software."

"Yeah, and log on to the servers and, welcome back." Jack said, smirking.

"It still won't work. There's nothing on there. It's useless." Dekker said.

"We've got technology way beyond you." Jack said.

"We hacked into Torchwood years ago, you idiot. There's nothing.

"Bring them over here." Johnson said.

"Um, Jared." Sayaka said, looking at the TV channel. "Look."

"Dad, Jared, come and look at this. It's some sort of pirate station. They're trying to get the story out to the public. But they're taking the kids." Alice said.

"We're broadcasting this on Digital one four one. It's the kids. Tell everyone to tune in to one four one." A woman said, on TV.

The school buses arrive at the designated locations.

Old building...

Rhys is videoing Gwen making her statement.

"There's one thing I always meant to ask Jack and Jared. Back in the old days I wanted to know about that Doctor of theirs. All those times in history when there's no sign of him, I wanted to know why not. But I don't need to ask any more. I know the answer now. Sometimes the Doctor must look at this planet and turn away in shame. I'm recording this in case anyone, in case anyone ever finds it, so you can see. You can see how the world ended." Gwen said.

"You didn't mean it, did you? About getting rid of it?" Rhys asked.

"No, of course I didn't."

"Okay."

"I would never. Never. I wouldn't do that to you, sweetheart. No, I wouldn't, and I'm sorry. I'm sorry. All right, darling?"

COBRA...

"Illegal broadcast on Digital one four one. Close it down. And take out the whole network if you have to." Pierce said.

"We're up to eighty percent. The people are starting to fight back." Riley said.

"Colonel, we're predicting eight percent."

Contact room…

"Is that acceptable?" Pierce asked, over the Bluetooth.

"We have up to eighty percent of the designated children. Is that enough?" Oduya asked.

"All of them. All of the designated to us." The 456 said.

COBRA…

"Not acceptable, sir." Oduya said, over the speaker.

"We need the rest. Authorising maximum force." Pierce said.

"The latest report from Germany. Old fashioned hard copy, I'm afraid. The system's gone into meltdown." Bridget said.

"You don't have to be here." Riley said.

"It's what he would have wanted."

"Do you think so? I can't imagine anyone wanting to be in this bloody room."

Ashton Down...

"Well, um, if we can reverse the polarity." Jared said, happily. "It could, it could work."

"I know what you're trying to do. A constructive wave. Do you think people aren't working on that all over the world? But it's never going to work. The effect would be like shouting at the 456, that's all. Just shouting." Dekker said.

"Why did Clem die?" Sayaka asked. "Like Ianto. Why did he die?"

"It was the 456 that killed him." Johnson said.

"But how did they do it? Why did they do it?"

"We've got the recording here." Johnson said, loading up the recording.

"Master, I believe they didn't need to kill him." Umi said, her voice coming out of the music note necklace. "The connection Clem had with the 456, it must have been there when he was a child. Maybe the connection must have hurt the 456."

"This is the 456 at the moment of his death. We've lifted the sound from the Thames House link." Johnson said, playing the sound.

"That sound, Mister Dekker, what's that sound?" Jack asked.

"I don't know. It's new." Dekker said.

"Damn, that's a new sound. And I thought I heard worse from Witches. That's really simple. All we have to do is copy the wavelength." Kyoko said, smirking. "Not analyze it. It would take a lot of time."

"You're right there, Kyoko." Jack said, looking at the red haired Magical Girl. We can turn it into a constructive wave. But we've got no way of transmitting."

"Of course you have." Dekker said.

"Shut up. I'm an emotional wreck. With barely any hope." Jared said, looking back at Dekker.

"Same way as them."

"No way. I'm not doing that. I'm supposed to be a hero, not a killer, not a monster. Not, um, not that." Jared said, pacing back and forth. "I'll break myself if I do it."

"What does he mean?" Johnson asked.

"The hell you're not." Kyoko said, angrily. "You're not doing that! Just don't listen to him."

"Dekker, tell me." Johnson said.

"The 456 used children to establish the resonance." Dekker said.

"Meaning what?"

"We need a child."

"What do you mean?" Alice asked.

"Centre of the resonance. Oh, that child's going to fry." Dekker said.

"No, Dad, Jared. No, tell them no." Alice said, sadly.

"Oh, my god. One child or millions." Sayaka said, frowning. "Now I know why you wanted us Magical Girls by your side. The burden on you would have been too much."

"Dad, Jared, no. Dad, Jared, tell them no!" Alice said, looking between Jack and Jared.

"We're running out of time." Johnson said.

"Dad, Jared, no! No, Dad, Jared!"

"Captain. Jared." Johnson said.

"Do it. I don't deserve to be a hero anymore." Jared said, as he and Jack nods their heads. "I was gonna end up a monster someday. I lost hope a long time ago. Without Team RWBY, I'm nothing. I'm, I'm not myself. Sorry, Alice Carter. I'm so sorry."

"Steven!" Alice said, running after Johnson.

Old building…

"Rhys. Quick." Shirabe said, peeking out of the window.

"They're coming. Everybody out. Quick. Everybody out. Quick. Come on, everyone. Let's go. Quick. Come on. Quick. Come on. Quick, out." Rhys said, as he and Symphogear are leading the kids outside.

"Come on. Quick, quick, quick, quick." Miku said.

Waste ground…

"Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on, quick." Hibiki said, as she is protecting the children with her friends by her side. "Follow me!"

Old building…

The soldiers burst in.

"Get away. Get away." A girl said, terrified.

Ashton Down…

"Steven! Steven!" Alice said, and Johnson has got Steven. "Steven!"

"Mummy." Steven said.

"No. Steven." Alice said.

"Mummy. Mummy."

"My baby."

"Mummy!"

"Steven, run away."

Waste ground…

"Run! Run!" Gwen said.

Symphogear, Gwen, Rhys, and Rhiannon are running with the kids behind them. As far away as they can.

Ashton Down…

A soldier puts Steven on a circular platform, while others hold Alice back.

"What are we doing, Uncle Jack? And Jared? Are we gonna play some video games or go to the arcade together? What's happening? What do you want me to do?" Steven asked.

"Steven, get away!" Alice said, angrily.

Waste ground…

The soldiers catch up with the fugitives.

"No! David! David!" Rhiannon said.

Gwen gets away with Mica, as Hibiki was stopped with Miku, Shirabe, and Kirika.

Ashton Down...

"Steven! Steven. Run! Run!" Alice said.

"This is it." Jared said, letting out some tears.

"Jared, are you ready?" Jack asked. "Sayaka? Kyoko? Look after Jared?"

"We can't." Sayaka said. "I was supposed to head back to Mitakihara with Madoka and Homura."

"And I was supposed to be investigating the Wings of Magius." Kyoko said, her hand on her hip. "Sorry."

"Looks like Jared got you girls involved for no reason." Jack said, as everything is set.

"I thought I could change things, apparently not." Jared said, and he walked over to Jack. "Let's do this. This is the end of me, of me being a hero. I need a lot of healing. A miracle. Something impossible. Please. For the love of god. My life sucked these past few years."

Jack and Jared pressed a button together and the 456 killer sonics start to build. Steven emits a shrill tone. All the children join in, and they are aiming it at Thames House. The 456 are affected.

"The hell?!" Kyoko exclaimed, when blood comes from Steven's nose as he jerks on the platform. "That's murder. You're murdering a child. Both of you."

The 456 thrash around, and splatter blood onto the glass before leaving in their pillar of fire.

COBRA...

The visual feed from Thames House is lost.

"Colonel, do we have a report? Colonel, what happened?" Pierce asked.

Contact room…

"Colonel?" Pierce asked, over the Bluetooth.

"It's gone, sir." Oduya said.

COBRA…

"The 456 has gone." Oduya said, over the monitor.

At 15:14.

Waste ground…

"Jared, he did something." Miku said, as the children are back to normal. "You can feel it, can't you? We lost our telepathic connection to him. Our link."

"What did you do, clever girl? What did you do? What did you do?" Gwen asked, looking down at Mica.

"Hey?" Rhys asked.

Mica goes to her mother.

"Oh." Rhiannon said.

Ashton Down...

"Let her in." Johnson said.

"What are you waiting for?" Sayaka asked, and Alice runs to Steven, who is lying on the platform. "A mother lost her son."

Blood is coming from Steven's ears.

"No, no, no, no, no! No! No! Somebody help him. Help him! No, please, no. Why? Why? Oh, please." Alice said, sadly.

Jack and Jared cries.

COBRA…

Pierce salutes Green, "Prime Minister."

He and the last of the military leave.

"The public will be wanting a statement, sir. Riley said.

"I suppose you could say we were lucky." Green said.

"A bit soon to tell. We don't know exactly what happened yet." Riley said.

"Lucky with the Americans, I mean. General Pierce took charge without ratification from the United Nations. We can say that today's events were in American hands."

"And do you think that's lucky?" Bridget asked.

"Do you know, yes, I do, rather." Green said.

"Your first thought now is to save your own skin. In which case you might like to know I paid a visit this morning, sir. I went to see Lois Habiba. You might remember her. I sat with her a while. We had a number of things to discuss. And while I was there, I used the emergency protocols to sign out a particular piece of evidence." Bridget said. "Contact lenses, sir. The Torchwood contact lenses. And Lois was very helpful. She told me how they worked. I can hardly feel them, sir. But everything that happened in this room has been recorded, sir. All waiting to be made public by me. Including your statement just now that after the events of today you feel, as you said in your very own words, sir, lucky."

"You wouldn't dare. I can have you arrested." Green said.

"I don't think so. Thank you, Bridget. You're free to go. And Miss Habiba will be released. I'll see to it myself. I think I'll be taking charge of very many things in the days to come. Is that all, sir?" Riley asked.

Ashton Down…

Alice takes one look at Jack and Jared, sitting in a corridor, and walks away.

"What will happen to Jared?" Sayaka asked.

"I don't know." Kyoko said, placing her hand on top of Sayaka's. "I know he will get better. Someday. It can't be us. Come on, we have a flight to catch."

"What do we do?" Madoka asked. "He'll be fine. Wait. Nanoha. We can ask her, Fate, and Hayate. They can do it in our place."

Jack and the Holy Quintet leave, with Jared sitting down, broken.

Jared's dream...

"Quite right, too. And I suppose, if it's one last chance to say it, Rose Tyler..." Holo-Doctor said, vanishing along with Holo-Jared.

Finally, Ruby and Jared turn a corner and emerges from the service tunnel, only to see with their own eyes that they are far too late.

Jared turned his nanotechnology super suit back to its portable form of dual pistols to use for later. He fell down to his knees with Ruby.

"Penny..." Ruby said, and she begins to cry, the tears fall as she sobs miserably. "Even with your foreknowledge...we couldn't save...Penny..."

"Yeah." Jared said, walking over to Ruby to hug her, and he also started crying. "I tried. I really did. I planned ahead for months. But, I failed."

"Do you believe in destiny?" Pyrrha asked.

"PYRRHAAAAAA!!!!" Ruby said, as the white light envelopes her, spreading out to the Wyvern and Cinder.

"Crap!" Jared said, using the nanotechnology from his super suit to turn the hard copy of Ember Celica into a copy of Elucidator. "You son of a bitch!"

"Get away from her!" Yang said, as mad as Jared.

"No...please..." Blake said, reaching out helplessly, whispering.

Ianto updates the personnel files as Jack packs Owen's personal items. Final logout procedure Dr Owen Harper. Are you sure you want to continue? Yes.

Gwen packs up Toshiko's things. Final logout procedure Toshiko Sato. Are you sure you want to continue? Yes.

"Okay. So, if you're seeing this, I guess it means, I'm, well, dead. Hope it was impressive. Not crossing the road or an incident with a toaster. I just wanted to say, it's okay. It really is. Jack, you saved me. You showed me all the wonders of the universe and all those possibilities, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thank you. And Owen, you never knew. I love you. All of you. And I hope I did good." Tosh said, on the monitor.

Message ends.

"Now we carry on." Jack said.

"I don't think I can, not after this." Gwen said.

"You can. We all can. The end is where we start from." Jack said.

"You're my daughter, and we've only just got started. You're going to be great. You're going to be more than great. You're going to be amazing. You hear me? Jenny?" The Doctor asked, and Jenny dies in his arms. "Two hearts. Two hearts. She's like me. If we wait. If we just wait."

"If you die here, it'll mean I've never met you and Jared." River said.

"Time can be rewritten." The Doctor said.

"Not those times. Not one line. Don't you dare. It's okay. It's okay. It's not over for you and Jared. The both of you will see me again. You've got all of that to come. You, Jared, and me, time and space. You watch us run."

"River, you know my name."

"Autodestruct in ten..." The computer said.

"You whispered my name in my ear." The Doctor said.

"Nine, eight, seven..."

"There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could."

"Hush, now." River said.

"Four, three..." The computer said.

"Spoilers."

"Two, one..."

River joins two power cables together, and there is a blinding light.

"I was going to be with the both of you forever." Donna said, looking between the Doctor and Jared.

"I know." The Doctor said.

"The rest of my life, travelling in the Tardis. The DoctorDonna and Jared. No. Oh my god. I can't go back. Don't make me go back. Doctor, Jared, please, please don't make me go back."

"Donna. Oh, Donna Noble. I am so sorry. But we had the best of times."

"We really did. I even brought you over to ALFheim Online. Something I wanted to do with Rose and Martha." Jared said, sadly. "It really was the best of times super temp, I laughed, I cried. I may never see you again, not like this."

"No." Donna said, crying.

"The best. Goodbye." The Doctor said.

"No, no, no. Please. Please. No. No." The Doctor said, mind melding with Donna and takes her memories away.

In the process of the mind meld, all of Donna's memories of being with the Doctor and Jared goes into the immortality pendant, waiting to be sent back to its host in case of emergencies.

"No!" Donna said, passing out.

Jack cradles Ianto, "It's all my fault."

"No Jack, it's my fault." Jared said, holding the hands of the two Magical Girls near him. "I knew this would happen. I should have stopped it. I should…"

"No, it's not. And Jared, you tried your best." Ianto said, looking at Jack, then at Jared.

"Don't speak. Save your breath." Jack said.

"Jack, I love you." Ianto said.

"Don't. Ianto? Ianto. Ianto, stay with us. Ianto, stay with us, please. Stay with us. Stay with us, please." Jack said.

"Hey. It was good, yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Don't forget me."

"Never could."

"Ianto Jones, back home, you have a shrine dedicated to you." Jared said, laughing a little. "Right near the Torchwood Hub. A little memorial."

"A thousand year's time the both of you won't remember me." Ianto said, frowning.

"Ianto, we will always remember you. I promise. Jack too." Jared said, looking at the coffee boy. "I won't let you down. And I'll keep your niece and nephew safe."

"Ianto. Ianto? Don't go. Don't leave us, please. Please don't." Jack said.

"You will die, and tomorrow your people will deliver the children." The 456 said.

Jack kisses Ianto one last time, and keels over, dead. Jared then looked over at Sayaka and Kyoko.
