Chapter 9

Saito PoV

I was on my phone in the back of my class when Zayne came in.

"Yo, Saito!" "What?" I looked up at him annoyed. "There's a meeting happening now. You're needed there. We also need brooms, so I'm leaving that to you." "Wow...okay I'll be there in a few." "Alright, I'll be in the SRC room if you need anything else." "'Kay." Sigh...leaving me to the slave work...

No point in telling Ms. Rimes. Not like she's gonna do anything if I leave. And I also have to find the supply closet and Shiroe. I left the class and went to go find the supply closet. Of course, it's on the worst floor of the school. The basement, the floor I hate the most. It's just too far away from everything.

I walked down the stairs and went down the hallway. I looked through the window in each door to see what was in it. I remember my first time coming down here. It was after school and I was with Shiroe. We were playing truth or dare with a few other people and we were dared to come down to the basement as a dare. Supposedly, the basement is supposed to be haunted or something like that. Anyways we went down there and ended up getting lost. Mind you this was after school, and since the basement is rarely used a lot of the lights weren't on, or they blew out.

So it was really dark as hell down there. Even with the school being so old, I've never heard it creek or make any other settling noise whatsoever. Then again, I could just not be observant. A door did slam down there though. A few doors actually. Shiroe and I were practically Scooby-doo and Shaggy down there. Of course, we got scared and ended up running back upstairs and out of school. The next day we got in trouble though. I don't know how they knew, or if somebody snitched, but we got in trouble for it. Were not supposed to go into the school basement after school. Probably for safety reasons...or stupid school reasons. I don't know.

"Finally, I found the supply closet."

Now I just have to grab the brooms and then find Shiroe. I opened the door and flipped the light switch. The lights did not turn on though. Fantastic. It was a walk-in closet, basically. I turn on the flashlight on my phone. I saw the brooms near the back. I walked through the aisles and heard some movement. Shook, I stood still and looked around for a mouse on the shelves or something. I couldn't find anything so I kept walking. I mumbled to myself.

"Where is that sound coming from?" Something was rustling in the corner, so I went over to go check it out. I lifted a box and a bunny was underneath. "...Okay..." Hm...should I leave? Or sit here and pick him up... I don't know. I picked it up and the closet door jiggled. I looked at the door for a second. "Probably just a person..." The bunny slipped from my hands. I ended up chasing the bunny, but I couldn't catch it. The jiggling also stopped, so I just ignored it.

"Jesus, it's hot in here." I fanned myself and continued chasing the bunny. I still couldn't catch it. I ended up removing my shirt and then I caught the bunny. "What's a bunny doing here anyway? How'd you get in?" I wrapped it in my shirt and placed it in the box. The closet door opened. "Saito, what's taking you so long?" "Umm, something came up."

"What do you mean something came up? Did you find the brooms?"

Zaira came around the corner and peeked around the shelves. "Oh, there you are...and you're...shirt...less..." "Um, yeah, about that...I was chasing this bunny and I ended up getting hot." "What bunny?" I pointed to the box where the bunny was. She went to the box and looked in it. "Saito, there's nothing in this box...just your shirt." "What? How? I just put it in the box." "Well, it's not there." "Oh well." I went to the box and took out my shirt. "I guess it escaped..." I looked at Zaira and saw that she was blushing. "What's wrong? Are you hot..or am I?" She laughed nervously but suppressed it. "I believe that it's you, that is hot. But, I am fuego."

"Woah, that was pretty bold of you. Well, I'm sorry that I'm too beautiful for you." "It's okay, I understand. You look delicious too. A whole snack."

We both couldn't contain our seriousness as we burst out laughing.

"Ok, Saito, now we have to go to the meeting. I'll be waiting at the door." "Alright, I'll get the brooms."

I grabbed a few brooms and headed back to the door with Zaira. Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She checked her phone and said that Sia had just texted her. "Sia says that they don't need the brooms anymore." "Wow...I'll just put these back then." "Mhmm." I put the brooms back and came back to the door. "Hey, umm...Saito? I have a small problem. Well, we...have a small problem. Both of us. You and I. Ustedes." "Um...It's Nosotros... but what is it?" "The doors locked..." "...I blame you. You were the last one to touch the door so I blame you." "Wow, how childish. Now just blame me for the door locking on its own." "Yup." "Hmph...I see. Then you can blame this on me too." Zaira pushed me up against the wall and kissed me.

I was shocked for a second before I could retaliate.

"What- Ok...then you can blame me for this." I kissed Zaira back and she blushed again. She just stood there quietly blushing for a minute or two. "Hey, you okay?" "Y-yeah...I just didn't expect you to kiss me back." "A lot of people don't expect things from me." "I don't know how I should take that." I put my shirt back on. "Zai, we have to get out of here. It's bad enough that I hate this floor." "Yeah, I don't wanna spend the day being locked in a supply closet. I'll text one of the members." "Alright. I'll text captain and Haruhi just in case." "Alright." I texted Captain and Haruhi and Zaira texted whoever she texted. It's been about 3 minutes and nobody responded. I sat down on the floor and rested against a shelf. "I'm getting tired. I've been down here too long doing nothing." "Me too. And my battery is low." "Ha, mine is at...14..percent...oh..well, I'm low too." "So, who's laughing now?" "Shut up."

After a while, we got bored and stopped talking. Zaira fell asleep first and I soon followed. I'm not sure how much time had passed, but I woke up to the sound of knocking on their door. "It's locked. Zaira and I are locked in here." As soon as I said that, the door burst open."Jesus what the fuck- You scared me!" "What the hell are you and Zaira doing?!" "Calm down Zayne. I can explain." Zaira woke up. "Don't tell me to calm down! What were you two doing?!" Zaira finally decided to speak up. "Oh, calm down Zayne, nothing serious happened. We were just sleeping together."

"Zaira!" I turned to Zayne. "Zayne, it's not like that! I swear! We didn't-" He cut me off. "So, you wanna sleep with my sister, huh?" "No. It's not like that at all." I clenched my teeth and looked at Zaira. "Yougoddamnidiot!You couldn't have said anything else??" Shit.

"Please Zayne, it really isn't like that. We just-" Sia told Zaira to be quiet. "Zaira shush." "Why?" "Because Zayne is already chasing Saito down the hall." "Oh..." "How could you not notice that!?" "I-I DON'T KNOW... I'm half awake." sigh.

I was basically running for my life as I quickly ran down the hall from Zayne. "Zayne! Calm down! We just fell asleep! That's it! I swear! I put that on Shiroe's dog! " "You're gonna be asleep when I'm done with you!" Zayne kept chasing me until I hit a dead-end at the end of the hall. Remi came running down after she heard Zayne yelling. "Zayne, what happened?" "He slept with my sister!!" This child seriously needs help.

Zaira finally caught up with us.

She looked pretty pissed off as she yelled Zayne's name. "Zayne! We didn't do anything. I promise! You're just being overprotective. The door was locked, and we got bored so we fell asleep! That's all that happened! Stop being on my back all the goddamn time and let me live for once!" "Fine. 'I'll let it slide, for this time. But you know exactly why I'm like this. Anytime you're in trouble, who's helping you get out?" "You...but still! I'm 16! You're acting like we're not the same age... I'm not on your ass like a hawk so you shouldn't be on mine! I'm partially legal now! I'm...ugh...fuck! Would you please just let me have my freedom!? You're not my dad..." "Well, I'm the closest thing to that. Keep that in mind." Zaira watched Zayne walk off and stared at the ground. "I'm sorry you all had to see that." She stormed off with clenched fists. I hope nobody is on her bad side today. Remi looked at me and shook her head. "You had one job, Saito." Remi left with everyone else, leaving me scared shitless in the hallway. Zayne stopped chasing after me and that was the end of that.

The bell rang and we returned to class. That was the highlight of my day. There's no point in telling you the rest of my day at school, so I'm going to skip a few hours.
