A god’s rival (Extra scene)

Chang Wu inhaled the late evening air, walking around the bistro front Lijuan needed them to meet. The unforeseen call worried him, and he assumed she wanted to end the trial relationship so soon. He'd planned to try his best to plead for another chance in case she wants to cut him off. The problem was if she'd listen this time.

"Miss Qin" He said in a low voice, but enough for her to hear. The woman turned her attention from her phone to the man she'd been waiting for.

"This might be a brief discussion. I apologize if you were doing something important. I texted you out of the blue even after I said I'd be busy this week."

"It's fine. About what we have to discuss…"

"I'm the one to ask the questions Mr Chang!" She face palmed herself 'I'm acting too strict like what that fool Hong said'

"Sorry" Wu apologized. Her action made it seem like his statement irritated her, and it seemed like the worst case scenario was inevitable. 'I'm getting dumped.'

"Before we breakup, I have to thank you for everything. For the little time you spent with me. I've never enjoyed a woman's presence as much as I savored my moments with you. I can't say more because I'm feeling sad about us separating, I didn't really plan what I'm saying now, and my head is cloudy with many thoughts."

"No...wait...you want us to break up?" his words confused Lijuan.

"Isn't that what you want? That's the reason you called me here"

She shook her head "That's not why. I just... I just wanted to ask a few questions about what you think about our relationship."

Wu was very relieved it wasn't a breakup. Who knows what could've happened after that.

Then again, he was still confused. Why did she want to ask about their relationship, anyway? He began thinking maybe her mom commented something negative about it.

"Am I too strict, boring and intimidating?"

Wu ran his hand through his hair and pressed his lips in a thin line. He didn't know how to respond, would the truth offend her?

"Your silence gives the answer away…"

"You're strict and intimidating. That's the truth."

Lijuan twirled her hair and switched her gaze to the ground 'I guess all Hong said was true.'

"But you're certainly not boring!"

She slowly looked up to him with widening eyes.

"So what if you're strict and intimidating? That way no one will take advantage of you and look down on you. I actually like how you're independent, and serious when the time calls for it. Your character doesn't make you less of a woman, and not everyone's the same," He cupped her cheeks "I like you for who you are"

"If I'm too strict with people, don't I chase them away."

"You chase the bad people away. If they don't see you for who you are and want you to be someone else, they're not good for you. Your assistant has been by your side, hasn't she?"

"I was told that men don't want to date me and are happy when I walk out on them. Did you ever feel that way?"

"That's a lie! Who'd be happy about you walking out on a date? As far as I know, anyone would be sad, probably angry too, but definitely not happy. You walk out on them because you know your worth, you know what you want! You're Qin Lijuan, who wouldn't want to date you? You can be cold, but I know you don't do it to hurt people."

Lijuan didn't say a word. She stood there, feeling the soft thumps of her heart as Wu spoke his truth.

"Who said those things to you?!"

"Fu Hong"

He placed his hands on her shoulders "Are you going to believe that man's words or your boyfriend's… Well trial boyfriend's."

"I'm done with Hong! You're better than him!"

Wu reached out and hugged her tightly.

"Well you have me, and I'll always be by your side… Forever" He looked at her with an assuring smile on his face, and she smuggled into his embrace, breathing slowly and sinking into his warmth as her worries gradually disappeared.

"Promise?"

"I promise."
