Chapter 21: Zhelan

The tinkle of glass on glass as Xin mixes his cocktail was lost under saxophone notes that jump and dance in the smoky bar. When he raises his mono-lidded eyes at the man taking the stool next to him, a smirk appeared on his face. He'd already notice Qui Zhelan enter, cheeks burning light hot coals against the wintry blast, glimpsing the nose-to-tail traffic outside.

"Zhelan, It's been a while"

"I'm not here to see you. Where's Wu?"

"I don't like people occupying space in my bar. It's either you buy a drink or get the fuck out. I think I've made myself clear about that more than enough."

Zhelan hissed, "Whisky."

"Alright." Xin slid the glass to the acquaintance, and he raised it to his lips briefly. "Where Is Wu."

"He went on vacation. Why do you ask?"

"My money. He probably lost the bet. You're hiding him, aren't you? I'm sure he's afraid to show his ugly ass here because he knows he's lost."
