Tactics

The class was in complete chaos. Many students were begging others to lend them points. Some students begged Kushida since they already knew she couldn't decline.

Hirata was trying to calm everyone down and tried to plan a new strategy to get points. However, I wasn't paying attention to what he was saying.

I was sitting at my desk and dozing off until I heard an announcement on the loudspeaker.

"Yagami-kun, from Class D please come to the faculty room, Chabashira-sensei has requested you."

With that, I got up and started making my way to the faculty room, but not before noticing how a few people looked over at me.

(Timeskip)

I entered the faculty room, but I didn't see Chabashira anywhere. I spotted a teacher and asked her where Chabashira was.

???: "Oh Sae-chan, she stepped out, would you like to wait in here?"

Light "If it isn't any trouble."

???: "No, not at all."

The teacher that spoke seemed to be pretty young and had shoulder-length hair. She seemed to be pretty close to Chabashira since she referred to her as Sae-chan.

I took a seat and the teacher took a seat next to me.

???: "I'm Hoshinomiya Chie, the teacher for Class B, why did Sae-chan call you here? We've been friends since high school and call each other Sae-chan and Chie-chan."

Honestly, this teacher didn't seem like a real teacher, and the way she acted reminded me of the way a child would behave.

Light: "I honestly don't know why Chabashira-sensei called me here. I'm just as confused as you."

Hoshinomiya laughed a bit at my response. She proceeded to lean on me and close the distance between us.

Hoshinomiya: "What's your name?"

Light: "Yagami Light"

Hoshinomiya: "Light huh, that's a beautiful name, you sure are making my day bright."

Light: "Thank you, you sure seem to be a beautiful and lenient teacher."

Hoshinomiya: "Ara Ara, are you flirting with me?" If so, I must say it is working."

I didn't expect the conversation to turn into this, not that I mind it.

However just as Hoshinomiya was inching closer to my face, the door flung open and Chabashira immediately hit Hoshinomiya with a clipboard.

Hoshinomiya: "Owie!"

Chabashira: "What do you think you're doing with my student?"

Hoshinomiya: "I was just keeping him company until you came back!"

Chabashira: "That didn't seem to be the case from my point of view, anyways Yagami, follow me to the guidance office."

The guidance office? I have a pretty good idea of what this is about now.

As we exited the faculty room and made our way to the guidance office, Hoshinomiya followed us.

Chabashira: "Where do you think you're going?"

Hoshinomiya: "With you of course!"

Chabashira: "I don't think so, you stay here."

Hoshinomiya: "My, Sae-chan, you never give one on one lessons, did you perhaps find a lover? If so, I hope you don't mind sharing~"

After Hoshinomiya said that, she seemed to give me a seductive look before getting shut down by Chabashira.

Chabashira: "Don't be ridiculous, teachers aren't allowed to have relationships with students."

Could that possibly mean we could've been a couple if I was older?

Hoshinomiya: "Aww, why did you have to go and spoil my fun?"

Honestly, I was enjoying hearing this conversation since I didn't have to think about it.

???: "Hoshinomiya-sensei, do you have a moment?"

I turned around and saw a girl with light-pink hair who I immediately recognized as Ichinose Honami from Class B. I remember seeing her talk to Kushida before.

Chabashira: "You see know? You're class needs you. Now get to it!"

After Chabashira said that, she smacked Hoshinomiya's butt with her clipboard.

Hoshinomiya: "Aww, well I guess I have to go. See you later Yagami-kun!"

Light: "Bye sensei."

With that, Hoshinomiya proceeded to head with Ichinose to the faculty room.

We arrived at the guidance office and entered the room.

Chabashira: "Before I tell you why you're here, please get in here."

Chabashira opened a door.

Light: "Alright"

Chabashira: "Don't make any unnecessary movements or get out until I tell you too, otherwise you will be expelled."

Light: "Understood sensei."

Chabashira: "Thank you."

Chabashira closed the door and I sat on the floor since there were no seats.

I believed that Chabashira brought me here to discuss my entrance exam scores, but I didn't understand why I was in a closet.

A few moments after, I heard the door open.

Chabashira: "Hello Horikita, why did you want to see me?"

Horikita: "I'll get straight to the point, why was I sorted into Class D?"

Of course, ignorance is bliss.

Horikita: "You said classes are separated by superiority and Class D was nothing else but the leftovers."

Chabashira: "I'm guessing you see yourself as a superior student?"

Horikita: "I'm confident with my answers in the entrance exam and don't believe I made a major mistake during the interview therefore I believe I should be placed in Class A or anywhere else but Class D."

It seems that Horikita doesn't realize the true reason she was placed in Class D, it's because of her inability to work with other people and her attitude.

Chabashira: "Well, I have your answer sheet right here..."

Horikita: "You seem to have expected me to come here."

Chabashira: "It is my job as a teacher to understand my students and from these papers, you scored third place in the entrance exam among the first years. We also saw nothing wrong with your interview and I can say you're a fully capable student."

Horikita: "Then why was I placed in Class D?"

Chabashira: "Who said your scores determined where you would be placed? Why would the school accept someone like Sudou?"

Horikita: "Tha-"

Horikita seemed at a loss for words and didn't know what to say.

Chabashira: "However, there are students that are the exact opposite as you, and happy with their placement. Take Koenji for example or another one of your classmates."

I can see where Chabashira is going with this.

Horikita: "Who are you-"

Chabashira: "Come out Yagami."

After Chabashira said that I exited the room I was in to find a surprised Horikita.

Horikita: "Yagami-kun, did you hear everything?"

Light: "Yes, I heard everything."

Horikita: "Why did you do this sensei?"

Chabashira: "It was necessary, for you to possibly be able to get to Class A."

Horikita: "What do you mean?"

Chabashira: "I'll tell you the reason I brought you here Yagami."

Horikita seemed reluctant but she sat down in a chair, as did I.

Chabashira: "You are an interesting student aren't you Yagami?"

Light: "What are you referring to sensei?"

Chabashira: "You scored 50 points in Japanese, 50 points in English, 50 points in math, 50 points in science, and 50 points in history. However, you scored a perfect 100 on the most recent test. What does that mean?"

Horikita took a look at the papers and then looked at me as well.

Light: "Before I enrolled in this high school, I didn't study at all. But after getting in, I wanted to try my best and study."

Chabashira: "I don't believe that to be the case. Hear this, only 3 percent of students solved the fifth math problem successfully which you did and you even used a complex formula to do so. However, you failed to solve the tenth problem successfully which was solved by 76 percent of students, explain that."

Light: "Guess I just got lucky."

Horikita: "I don't understand, you were fully capable of getting into a higher class, but you got problems wrong on purpose."

Light: "Sorry to disappoint, but all I did was pay attention during class and study in my free time."

Chabashira: "What do you think of this Horikita, do you think he's telling the truth or is he possibly smarter than even you?"

Light: "You can believe what you want, however, what I said was the truth."

That was a lie, the fact is I purposely got those scores, so I would be placed in Class D.

Chabashira: "Well, that's all we have time for today. Another teacher meeting will start in a moment."

With that, Horikita and I exited the room.

Light: "Goodbye, I'll see you tomorrow in class."

I started walking until I was stopped by Horikita.

Horikita: "Wait!"

If I knew Horikita, then she will proceed to question me even further and may want my help.

Light: "Yea, do you need something?"

Horikita: "Were your scores just a coincidence?"

Light: "Yes, there would be no point in getting low scores on purpose."

Horikita: "I don't understand you at all...you don't seem to be concerned with reaching Class A at all..."

Light: "I don't care about reaching that class at all, it seems like we're the complete opposite of each other."

Horikita: "Isn't it natural for someone to obsess over trying to get to Class A?"

Light: "Yes, there's nothing wrong with having high goals for yourself."

Horikita: "But before I can do that, I have to fix the class."

Light: "So you've finally acknowledged it."

Horikita: "What are you referring to?"

Light: "The fact that the entire class needs to improve for you to even consider aiming for higher classes."

Horikita: "Yes, I understand it now."

Light: "If you want I can assist you with improving the class."

Horikita: "Thank you, but can I ask why?"

Light: "I don't want to see our class fail when we never even got the chance to try and improve."

No, the reason I want to help is so I could get the trust of most of my classmates and in the future, possibly use them if I have to.

Light: "I'm going to go, for now, I'll see you tomorrow."

Horikita: "Goodbye"

However, Horikita might be suspicious of my true intentions, which can be a problem.

(Timeskip)

We were in class when lunch was just about to start in a minute or so. Suddenly, Horikita decided to talk to me.

Horikita: "Do you have any plans for lunch?"

Light: "No"

Horikita: "Would you like to join me for lunch? I'll treat you."

This is different, however, I still knew Horikita had an alternative goal in mind.

Light: "Alright"

(Timeskip)

We entered the cafeteria, got our food, and sat down. I started eating when I heard Horikita start speaking.

Horikita: "You can continue eating, but I just want you to listen."

I nodded

Horikita: "Hirata-kun started to make study groups so no one fails the exams and gets expelled."

I heard about the study groups from Kushida and Mei. I don't need to join them.

Horikita: "However, there are students that haven't joined the study groups and are in major trouble of getting expelled. You've probably guessed it already, but I'm talking about the three idiots."

Not surprising.

Horikita: "I've taken the liberty of making my study group and I ask for your help to get those three in the said study group."

Light: "I'll do what I can."

Horikita: "Thank you, I appreciate it. Here's my number, so contact me when you're finished."

Horikita gave me her number and proceeded to exit the cafeteria.

The three idiots won't just go to a study group if I ask them to. I'll get someone they're familiar with to do it for me.

(Timeskip)

Classes had ended for the day and I approached Kushida.

Light: "Hey Kushida, can you do me a favor?"

Kushida: "Sure Yagami-kun, anything you need!"

Light: "I would like you to invite Sudou, Ike, and Yamauchi to a study group Horikita created."

Kushida: "Of course, I can do that, but I'll need something in return."

Light: "What is it you need?"

Kushida: "I want to join the study group too!"

Light: "If that's what you want then it can be done, thanks for your help Kushida."

Kushida: "Your welcome! Here's my number, I'll contact you when I'm finished."

Just like that, all the pieces are falling in order. Now everything else will depend on Horikita.

(Timeskip)

I was in my dorm, laying down on my bed when I got a phone call.

Light: "Hello?"

Kushida: "I've invited them and they accepted!"

Light: "Thanks Kushida."

I called Horikita and told her the three idiots were accepted.

Horikita: "I didn't expect them to be so compliant."

Light: "Well these are unexpected times, I gotta go I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight."

Horikita: "Goodnight"

I didn't tell Horikita that Kushida would also join the study group since there was no point.

Horikita would say "no" while Kushida would probably still come the next day to try and solve the problem.

Anyway, I finally got the chance to reflect on why I joined this school in the first place.

To get away from my father. This may be karma because I got my father killed in the previous world and now I have a terrible father that wants me to lead Japan in the future.

I wouldn't mind leading Japan because I still want to change this world. But, the reason I want to change this world is because of the "White Room".

That shouldn't even exist, a facility where kids are trained as future leaders, however, they don't get to decide for themselves if they want to be in it or not.

It's pathetic, my father is a powerful person that can easily blackmail any other principal from another highschool.

People like him don't deserve to have that kind of power, that's the reason I had to come here, a high school supported by the government. That way he wouldn't be able to reach me so easily.

Anyway, that's enough thinking for now. I'll go to sleep and prepare myself for the study group tomorrow.

(Timeskip)

Kushida, Horikita, Sudou, Yamauchi, Ike, and I were in the library, but things weren't looking so good.

I was able to explain to Horikita why Kushida was here and she had to reluctantly accept her.

Things were going alright at the start, however, Sudou kept on failing his questions which Horikita got tired of.

Sudou ended up storming off when Horikita called him an idiot and was quickly followed by Yamauchi and Ike.

Kushida: "I think you should be nicer to them Horikita."

Horikita: "They are incapable of solving simple equations, I honestly don't know why I decided to make this study group anymore."

Kushida: "Well, I won't just give up on them. I don't want our classmates to get expelled."

Horikita: "Do you feel this way Kushida?"

Kushida: "Um-what do you mean Horikita-san...?"

Horikita: "I don't think you truly want to save them."

It seems Horikita is also suspicious of Kushida.

Kushida: "Why would you say that Horikita...? I don't understand why you antagonize people."

Kushida looked a bit sad, for a few minutes nobody spoke until Kushida finally said something.

Kushida: "I'll see you tomorrow..."

With that Kushida left the library.

Light: "I'll go as well, see you tomorrow."

Horikita: "Goodbye."

I left the library and saw Kushida make her way to the school.

This may interesting...

I followed her until she stopped at a door without saying anything.

I immediately started recording.

Kushida: "God I hate that bitch! WHY WON'T HORIKITA JUST DIE!?"

Kushida was kicking the door and screaming.

Kushida: "I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!"

I got everything I wanted to...but just as I was about to leave, I heard my phone buzz...and so did Kushida.

Kushida: "Who's there?!"

Light: "It's me, Kushida."

Kushida looked dead at me.

Kushida: "I see..."

Kushida approached me and I stood my ground.

Kushida: "Did you hear?"

Light: "Yes"

Kushida: "If you tell anyone, I'll accuse you of rape."

Light: "With what evidence?"

Kushida tried to reach for my arm, however, I easily dodged her and pinned her against a wall. It might've seemed like a double-edged sword but it's not like I have evidence to leave behind. Adermatoglyphia can be a criminal's dream because of just how useful it is.

Kushida: "Wh-at are y-"

Light: "I've already recorded everything, I can send this video to everyone and ruin your entire career."

Kushida now appeared to be afraid and stuttered on her words.

Light: "You'll do as I say from now on."

Kushida: "F-fine"

Kushida now looked hopeless and I couldn't help but smirk at the circumstances.

This is better than I predicted...
