Made the mistake

It had been four wonderful weeks since we became officially a couple. I never knew a man as autocratic and controlling as him could be so extremely romantic too. One time, I went home, I was surprised to see the house full of roses in every direction.

I did not know if I should be happy or mad at him. Of course, my heart fluttered from the gesture, but my mind was not quite pleased with the waste. It was just too much for my taste. Although he had plenty of money, it was not right to splurge it on unnecessary things.

Last night, he toned down a little. It was just a few balloons and a bouquet of assorted colorful flowers with a matching candlelight dinner and my favorite, chocolates.

"What's the meaning of this?" I asked him as we entered his suite, handing me the flower that was waiting for me on the table.

"It's our anniversary. One month. Don't tell me you forgot?" He accused me with his mischievous tone.
