The duel of forces

Faith knew that Kassuim was running towards her.

The girl had taken the transformation on instinct and propelled the huge body in a leap to her surprise. With luck, death would be quick. The arms tried to protect her face, waiting for the violent impact.

The sound of something strange and loud echoed horrendously. A wild, low, menacing growl broke the sudden silence. Faith stopped in shock at the whitish sight that at the moment was the only obstacle between her and those animals. Just one bite is enough. The poison they carried in their veins was always deadly. Some believed that a wolf could resist the poison, but never a human.

It was difficult to associate the image before her eyes. The immense white wolf was frightening when it displayed its sharp fangs, digging through the hard earth with deep furrows. It was furious. That animal was...

Faith's eyes widened in bewilderment. Her growls were thunderous.

Kassuim.

The girl had been transformed in midair when advancing against those transformed. Faith ground her teeth. After the initial impact, the white wolf was walking in circles facing his opponents, the animals seemed to dance, facing each other in circles, measuring their strength.

The strongest of them returned to invest against the white wolf, trying to corner it next to the trees, and finally, Faith managed to get to her feet. His teeth caught the side of the white wolf and a yelp came out of his throat as if trying to fight the pain.

Faith could only see in front of her the girl who had become that furious animal. She wanted to scream to be left alone. She started running in the hope that some of these beasts would follow her.

The steep cliff above the sea was incredibly high, too high and the waves were whipping. The coast was huge and abrupt, showing a wall that seemed impassable. It was almost thirty meters to the top. Maybe, just maybe she or Cassie had a chance to escape everyone.

Her hands were skinned and numb. She was starting to climb. One foot and then ... another. Only below, the transformed ones growled and their claws let out shrill whistles as they excavated the raw rock. Another new wave hit her with a new coughing fit. She felt suffocating.

She couldn't do it. Maybe if she had help or ropes.

Clinging to the granite wall with just the tips of her fingers, she started the climb, fighting desperately to find a balance for her feet. The rock was flat, with no support points. The smooth, cool surface of granite in some sections finally showed small pebble-sized recesses and tiny cracks. Her toes were numb.

Holding her breath, she looked down. The huge, furious white wolf snarled as he faced what appeared to be the leader of the group of five transformed men determined to kill them.

Cassie!

The name stuck in the dry throat without believing that the younger sister was that wolf.

-Cassie! Caution! - Faith shouted in terror.

Why didn't she just run away? Her mind could only summon the image of a child Kassuim. Her foot slipped unsupported as her hands struggled to keep her body close to the granite wall. She screamed.

The transformed ones were pushing the white wolf to the edge of the cliff. The circle around him was closing. The white wolf attacked again with violence, hitting his opponent, striking him in the chest. But without waiting, another one came forward and ran, throwing the white wolf two meters away against the rocks.

The breath hissed from the animal's lungs when it hit the rocks. The whole peak seemed to oscillate. The white wolf was down.

A low yelp escaped Kassuim's mouth before the loud howl and finally, the wolf has collapsed a few feet away from Faith.

How did she fight that?

Getting ready to fight, Faith jumped into the clearing, feeling the rush of adrenaline rushing through her veins. She had no strength to stop these beasts. Fallen and perhaps wounded, the wolf slowly abandoned its frightening animal form.

The fight was over.

There was no doubt who would be the loser. The second rush of adrenaline made Faith stiffen with her joints cracking in protest. The staff. The mystical staff. She could absorb energy. And channel into her sister.

Unexpectedly, Kassuim opened the eyes.

There was a mystical connection between her and the cursed piece.

Faith knew that at that moment when the panting girl struggled to her feet.

9

Unexpectedly, Kassuim opened her eyes.

Would she have enough courage for that? Refusing to think, Faith picked up the heavy object. The staff seemed to protest at her touch, radiating unbearable heat. It burned. She could scream. As expected, the transformed ones seemed to focus their attention on her.

God loved it! How long would it take Rick or Phil to get there?

She did not know how to say her sister's condition. Her arm showed a light bite and she again started trying to move. Faith needed to ensure enough time so that Cassie could move again. She was praying it would work.

Perhaps it was their only chance.

The staff in her hands radiated intense light, and the transformed ones retreated, causing mad howls. When they returned to invest, but once the white wolf rose.

Everything then proceeded slowly before Faith's eyes.

Hecate!

It was no longer a wolf that was advancing towards the transformed. It was a ... The high-pitched squeak echoed loudly, bringing a surprise. It was a big white eagle. Maybe it was about ten feet. Its imposing wings ...

It was an attack prey.

And it was carrying out an attack maneuver after the unexpected sweep. It was in the same place, flapping huge wings. Sifting the air. Its powerful claws were used relentlessly. Faith let out a cry. The bird blinded its opponent indifferent to the animal's howls of pain.

Faith in shock saw the attack. Beak and claws ripped through. A metallic, deafening sound reached her ears above the uncompensated rhythm of the heartbeat when the biggest beast fell to the ground

One was dead, but there were still four left.

Even in the form of an animal, the eagle returned to its initial perch on the ground and again changed before her eyes. And attacked again. Another crash led the wolf to the transformed ones against trees and the trunk broke with a hollow crack with violence.

-Cassie!

It all happened at the same time. The wolf howled wildly, its scream of sharp pain echoing deafeningly. Without anyone seeing another transformer, he had left behind the rocks, investing Cassie with immense fury. Faith winced. It was not naturally her sister's instincts or strength. She shuddered at the sound of bones crushed in shock. The girl reacted with renewed fury.

-Get out of the way, Faith.- Richard's thick voice hissed like thunder. - Do not move.

The sound of wolves roamed the meadow at the end of the forest.

A huge black wolf emerged from the boundaries between the vegetation accompanied by a few more. They were running in a V formation, snarling, and the transformed men retreated in fright. They were simply running away. It was unbelievable that anything could scare those monsters.

There were growls and teeth that creaked in a deafening volume that made Faith gasp by putting her hands over the ears. Without realizing how she was trapped in steel-like arms that prevented her from running towards her sister. The transformation that attacked Cassie now faced a big black wolf-like never before.

It was the alpha.

Faith screamed again in fright. She felt something roll and hit her heel and stopped in a daze as her stomach contracted when she realized what it was. The alpha invested with fangs and teeth, piercing a large piece of the transformed's neck, tearing his throat. Cassie was returning to human form breathing great gusts.

She hid her face, holding back the trembling wretch. The body was shaking terribly. Faith knew it was a horror. Richard's hard voice shook her urgently.

-Hell! -He shouted frustrated. For the first time, examining the girl, he checked her arms and legs, looking for bites, anxious. - Are you or your sister aware of the danger?

The beasts still seemed to insist on the battle.

Unexpectedly, Cassie stood up shakily, watching the scene. Faith hung her head helplessly, and her eyes were drawn to an even more disturbing detail. The big black wolf ... He faced what was left of the transformed.

"Philip ..."

-The staff! Cassie shouted, standing up. The shining eyes were brilliantly blue. The primordial and penetrating look of a Primordial... When she raised her hand in the air the object flew to her fingers.

Everyone looked at her in absolute torpor.

Instincts came naturally.

The staff was large. Cassie held the wood firmly, the arm extended, turning the object in the air in circles. All tiredness left the body. As if it obeyed her will, it suddenly shone in her hands radiating energy.

-Get back! - Her voice echoed loudly as he faced the animals. - I told them to back off! Obey. Now!

In a moment she felt a little foolish.

It was natural that those bloodthirsty beasts would pay no attention to her. What was your surprise when facing the other leader of the transformed?

Pulling the ears back, it looked at her with unrestrained fury.

The other two beasts stopped the attack unexpectedly

-For a long time .... - no one has spoken to me in a long time. - the beast howled. - In the beginning, the race was unique ... until its fall. See what we've become. Neither wizards nor wolves. Condemned to never return to human form, Guardian of the Sacred Pieces.

Cassie stopped in awe. The black wolf approached to protect her, showing its fangs.

-Can you ... can you understand what I say? she asked in astonishment.
