Standing up to the king

I walk through the hall of the castle, listening to the echoing sound of my footsteps. It turned out that I had flashbacks of the event that happened. I had zoned out. The events of the past distracted me from what I was doing. I felt shivers up my spine as I walked by a couple of servants with worried looks in their eyes. I could understand why they had such worried looks in their eyes. Whenever my father called me to see him it was never a good sign. I had pure anger towards him. I don't hate him but still. It wouldn't make up for what he's done to me in the past. The very thought of what he has done brings me sorrow and pain. The halls are silent besides for the echoing footsteps as I came closer to what he had in store for me this time. For years, he has attempted to take control of my life and what I do with it. This was the last straw. I am not going to tolerate his crap anymore. I stopped. In front of me was my destination. I had arrived at the very door of what I used to call my demise. Now, it was only a door to the throne room. I had no fear of him anymore. Before I reached for the large door in front of me, I braced myself for what I am about to witness. I took a deep breath in and let it out. Here we go. I push the wide doors aside as a bright light blinded me for a moment. There sitting on the high pedestal all of isla worshiped and praised, The man who had done horrible things to keep me in line, my so called father, King Aaron Dragonheart. Ruler of Isla. As I walk in I glace at the beautiful gracefulness that was my mother. Queen Annabeth Dragonheart. She looked confused by my sudden appearance. I'm not surprised. Seems very in character for him to summon me without telling my mom why or anything about why I had been summoned in the first place. The king looked high and mighty while looking down on me from his sliver, shining throne. He wore a long velvet cape with silver fur at the very end. His crown was a mix of gold and silver with precious family heirlooms imbedded into the crown. His fancy kingly like outfit with the colors of a slightly darker grey and blue mixed with gold in his outfit. They way he sat there on his silver shining looking throne. He had the cold glare in his eyes. That look of seriousness and high reign above all else that stood against him. He even looked like a ruler from up there. I give him that cold stare of the same backfiring look that he was giving off to intimidate me. He blinked while making an even bigger intense look. So I caught you off guard eh? Good. I look over at my mom who wore a long elegant white and slightly darker grey and blue imbedded into her dress. A light see through ribbon like fabric as sleeves on her arms. She had a pleasant smile on her face that spelled worried in all directions. Her silver crown with the same precious family heirloom gems imbedded into it. The dress she wore made her look skinnier than usual. Too skinny to be exact. My guess is that she was wearing a corset. Her glittering Silvery hair was up in a braided bun with two little strands out of place on the sides of her head. She looked to be a calm and gentle queen. One that relies on peaceful agreements rather than war. I would know. I've seen how she can be towards my father and towards her subjects. One ruled with an iron fist while the other rules with calm and gentle rules. Seems like the perfect blend for this kingdom. She is always keeping him in place while he gives the orders and does all of the hard work. And then there's the image that they argue about for me. One wants me to be stuck up and serious constantly while the other just wants what's best for me. Today, I will stand up for what I believe is right for me. Today, they will see my true colors. The true me. The person I want to become.

"Crystal Dragonheart. How lovely of you to join us today." My father says as it echoes throughout the room.

"Father. Cut the crap your pulling. You were the one who summoned me here in the first place."

"Trying to get to the point now are we? Fine. I summoned you here because there has been an issue with the kingdom of Boreas. They Need more supplies and resources for their farmlands which our kingdom has a plenty full of. So I took this opportunity to offer my help by-."

"Let me guess, you want me to get married to their prince to save us from having more conflict. Is that right?" I say completely ignoring the fact that I interrupted him.

"That is correct. We need their support if future kingdoms are to attack. They have the most valuable resources to build armor and weapons in Isla. It is crucial that we have this alliance."

"This is about the 15th time you have asked me to go off and get married. Are you that desperate to get rid of me?"

"That is enough Young lady! You have no choice in the matter. If we don't have this alliance, our kingdom will be in grave danger. You would be doing what's best for our kingdom." I was silent. My mom looked away from me with a saddened expression on her face. A large grin grew on my fathers face. He thinks that he won? Like hell he did. I'm not going to tolerate this shit.

"I will assume that your silence to this issue means that you have accepted-."

"No." My mom looked at me with shock along with my father.

"What did you say?" He says with intense anger as he looks at me with those cold turquoise eyes. His hands were shaking almost coming into a fist.

"You heard me. No. Have you even considered any other options? Or did you just jump to the conclusion of marriage."

"You insignificant child! I am your king and I order you to-"

"No!! I am only 14 years old! I'm no where near ready for that kind of commitment! It doesn't matter if your my king or not. I'm supposed to be your daughter too so why don't you treat me like one instead of thinking of me as just another one of your servants!!" He was speechless. He had no words for what I had just laid on him. My mom smiles at me. I could tell by that look that she was very proud of me. After all, I was finally standing up to my father and his dumb requests and demands of me.

"If that was all you needed from me, then ill be taking my leave from here." I say as I start to walk towards the door of the throne room entrance. The echoes of my footsteps surrounded the room. I stop. Looking back at my furious father on the verge of exploding from his built up anger from my disobedience. My mom seemed relaxed. I looked at her. She gave me a nod saying that I should leave before things get out of hand. I look towards my father again. I could sense his anger rising as I stood there.

"I control my own destiny not you. I am not nor will I ever be treated like a prisoner ever again. Good day your majesty." With that. It was over. The throne room doors became just that. Doors. With a furious king yelling for me to return to his beckon call. The room of the castle that I used to fear became nothing more than a room. I felt as if a giant weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. Never again will I fall for his manipulative ways. I walk down the halls of the castle. Listening to the far off sounds of arguing. I reach a certain place that lead to a stairway that seemed to never end. I started to walk up those stairs. My mind was blank. But that was ok. I will be ok now.
