Eye of the Queen

CHAPTER 14

-PART THREE-

Time had begun to dissolve into itself, as shapeless as the rain.

Time is precious, time don't lie, this you can't deny

As long as time is concerned; People will come and unfairly go

Time won't stop in this cruel world. Friendless and haunted,

No time for love, no time for anything

One big mistake; Can ruin you.

One love; million pains

Time is Ticking. Dawn is coming,

its Rosy fingers spilling over the Horizon, must not look Back, for time will end you!

The bullet spat out from the gun, red in the darkness. It hit her directly in the chest, propelling her backward. She fell into her brother's arms. For a few seconds she looked up against his brother's eyes as if she was trying to admire it one last time. The bright rays folded over her face. The gunshots brought pain; it was as if the bullet passed through on her back, her blood was draining over her shirt, running warm through her middle body. Her stomach lurched.

From that very moment when a loud echo came from the gun, the time suddenly turned slow as everyone was shock on what happened.

"No!" Price shouted as he carries his bloody sister on his arms

"No! No!" Gray shout out of despair

"I-I'm tired, c-can I rest?" The poor Angelycko utter as she try to let out any words

"Don't close your eyes please!" Price cry telling her unconscious sister what to do.

Lycko arched her body out of pain and gauged tons of blood out of her mouth.

"I-I Love Yo-" She can't speak. Her eyes cry as the pain go deeper torturing her.

"Price Come on!" as the great Pendelton starts his engine.

The moment was too fast for them to absorb what's happening, Knight-Lock and Gray Williams run through the woods to chase the bastard who merely kill their ally. Running until they reach the middle were the culprit suddenly disappears.

"Fuck! Where are you!" Gray angrily shout as he pulled the trigger on any direction he wants

"Gray! Up there!" Lock point his finger directly to a tree when he saw the man trying to escape through climbing on a mere-like ladder leading to a small bunker

"You're dead!" Gray shouted as he continuously pulled the trigger not knowing how could he shot the man. Knight-lock try to aim the man on opposite direction as Gray trying to shoot.

"You'll pay for what you've done" he whispers as he finally decided to pull the trigger. A loud banging sound echoed all over the forest, the man fell down from the tree. The two brave man run towards the direction where the snipper man falls.

"Where did he go?" Gray clenches his fist because of his overflowing anger as they found nothing towards the direction were the guy fell.

"we should head back" Lock suggested "Lycko needs us"

"ojo por ojo" Gray utter as he walks his way back to the café.

The hallway has as much personality as the rest of the hospital. The floor is slate grey and the walls dove. Above the ceiling is made from those polystyrene squares laid on a grid-like frame. The light is too bright for my eyes after the darkening gloom outside, I find it abrasive, enough perhaps to bring on one of my migraines. There are commercial prints on the wall, tasteful in the dull kind of way. This place certainly isn't run by risk-takers and I guess I should find comfort in that. Above every door I pass is a large plastic sign, dark with white lettering- no fancy fonts, just bold and all-caps. It's so new and spotless I feel like the whole building must have just gotten beamed here from some-place dirt is outlawed. Nowhere is the chronic underfunding more evident than in the hallways. They are for the most part crammed with patients on trolleys, some tended by strained relatives and some alone. Each of them lies on their back, strapped in, eyes toward the naked fluorescent tubes that flicker as though they are on their last legs. In the brief gaps between these unfortunates who cannot afford the exorbitant private fees, the pale blue walls are deeply scored by the metal framed trollies, the drywall showing though like white scars. The cheap prints on the walls are insipid, so lacking in vibrancy that they appear sun-bleached in this windowless strip. The confined space magnifies the groans and wails to no avail, the nurses have seen it all before and are immune, hardened by repeat exposure and over-work. This hospital is nothing like the others, where the receptionist is more plastic than the purified water dispenser. Here there is no openness, no space, nothing shines or has the smell of disinfectant. Instead the way in is down a long hallway so narrow that if a wheelchair or trolley were to come. The walls were once painted, I can tell that from the cream flakes that remain, though mostly they show the grey undercoat or perhaps the concrete beneath that. The floor is uneven from so much traffic with both feet and wheels and it's darker than a mausoleum. The air is stagnant like we just went into some pit. There are no hand sanitizers on the walls, how they prevent the spread of germs here I don't know, perhaps they don't. From ahead come muffled voices, some angry, some placating. I bite down on my lip, this isn't going to be fun.

"Hey! Can you please calm down?" I stated as I look towards Price's direction, he walks back and forth biting his nails.

"How can I supposed to calm down when I know that there is a possibility that my sister is going to die?" he stated looking straight to my eyes coldly.

I sigh as I let it passed, I know what he feels and yet here I am faking my emotions again because I know that it's too dangerous to be weak at this very moment.

He might be watching

An ally entered in green scrubs, her black hair tied low in a ponytail.

"I'm her brother!" Price automatically appear towards the doctor's direction

"Is she now okay?" I asked formally

She was Spanish looking with large brown eyes, neatly lined in black. She had the lithe movement of an athlete and the easy smile.

"I'm Sorry" She spoke with an American accent and with her hands. With each word the fine fingers would flourish into the stagnant hospital air like birds.

"What do you mean?... I don't get it?" a tears suddenly flow on his cheeks

"Gunshot wound caused her a physical trauma. Damage may include bleeding, broken bones, organ damage, infection of the wound, or loss of the ability to move part of the body. Damage depends on the part of the body hit, the path the bullet follows through the body, and the type and speed of the bullet. In her case, she loses amount of blood which may lead to Long-term complications can lead to poisoning, post-traumatic stress disorder and death is the worst –" The doctor explains

"Just go straight to the fucking point!" Price impatiently shout out of anxiousness

"Price, let her explain further" I calmly stated but instead of getting any response, he just mocked and grin at me.

"Her condition is not a joke—" as the doctor tries to continue her explanation, a voice came out

"I'm sorry we're late, where is Angelycko? Is she okay?" Gray utter as they try to hide what happened.

"Her heart damaged a lot"

"and then? What happened to my sister?" Gray confusedly asked convincing himself that his thoughts and ideas we're wrong.

Is she really is?

"I'm sorry, but we did our best to fight, we did our best to fight for her life" the doctor said as she let out a sigh, making it hard for her to admit the truth happened to Lycko

I feel a twitch in my heart, I couldn't manage to move or utter any words as I heard the bad news from her little mouth.

"No! Maybe we can do something! you're the doctor! Maybe you can manage to make her live!" Knight-Lock mocked as he was trembling and hysterically started to cry.

"No! No! No! my sister, I know her! S-She's strong enough to face everything! I know my little sister! She c-can't die!" Gray murmurs while bursting into tears.

Tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down my face. I feel the muscles of my chin tremble like a small child and I look toward her twins, as if the they could soothe me.

I wish it was all a nightmare

There is static in my head once more, the side effect of this constant fear, constant stress I live with. I hear my own sounds, like a distressed child, raw from the inside.

This is all my fault.

It takes something out of me I didn't know I had left to give. That's the way it is when people are hard. It's like a theft of the spirit, an injury no other person can see. As my tears continuously bursting, I can't manage to utter any word, I know he might be watching us but I don't care! This time I just want to endure the pain, I don't want to be a cold heartless leader. I want to mourn, I want her back.

She is my world.

She's the one I've been protecting

But She's gone

My world is gone.

My eyes drip with tears. My walls, the walls that hold me up, the walls that makes me strong just... collapse. Moment by moment, they fall. Salty drops fall from my chin, drenching my shirt. Perhaps these tears will help wash the blood out. I press my head against the wall...

Lycko, my sweet innocent Lycko.

I'm trembling. I can't-can't stop. Even as I press my hand against the wall it shakes, it trembles. It's raw, everything, raw tears, raw emotions. I can't stop...

I can't stop.

Why can I not stop crying?

"That's Impossible! Lycko is alive! Y-you're lying!" Price shouted, he doesn't want to believe on what the doctor has said.

"I'm sorry but we tried to revive her, but it's too late. I'm sorry for your loss" As the doctor finally say her last word and blindly walk away

"No! No! No! she can't die! Not now! I-I need her!" He breaks into tears and collapse on the floor, bursting out cries incapable of composing his self.

As much as we tried to hold it in, the pain came out like an uproar from our throat in the form of a silent scream. The beads of water started falling down one after another, without a sign of stopping. Price hit the wall and tried to scream, but his voice was melted by the sound of the place. The muffled sobs wracked against his chest. The world turned into a blur, and so did all the sounds.

The taste.

The smell.

Everything was gone.

She's gone.

The last painful emotion slammed against us before we lost the feeling of feeling. Everything darkened into nothingness as we passed into the oblivion of unconsciousness.

A noisy sobs echoed through the empty hallway. Eyes were burning and chest felt heavy as if it were filled with lead. Could no longer see clearly. All they knew was that she was gone, out of their life for possibly forever.

"We loss her, aren't we?" Knight-lock stare from nothingness while tears dripping through his face.

A loud sob from Price was the only noise we heard.

"ojo por ojo" Gray utter as he burst again into tears, realizing that Lycko was gone

"Eye for an eye"
