Fifth Layer of Body Tempering

After leaving the hospital, Ling Hong and Hua Meimei left to go back to their home. Xinye Village was about 2 hours away from the city by bus. From there one had to transverse through the forest road to reach the village. The siblings arrived by afternoon, with Ling Hong carrying his tired sister piggyback. After laying her down at home to sleep, he went into the forest to check for any spiritual medicines.

As his soul power was restored, Ling Hong was naturally able to spread out his divine sense and scout the area for traces of spiritual qi. He collected a few other herbs required to make the Body Cleansing and Qi Restoration Pills. Sensing something triggering his divine sense, he dug out the earth near the spot and was excited.

This was because he had found a 100-year-old Ginseng and a patch of Cold Grass. These could be integrated into the Body Cleansing Pills to refine the blood in one go! 'I've struck it rich this time' he thought. He wouldn't use it soon anyway, only after achieving Eighth Layer of Body Tempering else the medicinal effects would lessen.

Coming back to the house, he entered the pill concoction room. Although the previous Ling Hong had learnt things about medicine from Grandma Chen, he still had not concocted any pills as he didn't have any cultivation. But now with his years of memories from the previous life, it was very simple. He started examining the available things in the room. There were a good amount of herbs of superior quality, and even the cauldron was an Gold-ranked treasure. Treasures were ranked as Common, Silver, Gold, Earth, Heaven and Immortal ranked. Seeing such a treasure here only meant one thing - Earth had it's own mysteries and Grandma Chen was no simple character either to get her hands on such fine goods.

After processing the ingredients, Ling Hong started to break down the herbs to release medicinal content and form the pill. If any alchemist saw his process, they would be shocked! While alchemists normally used qi to refine the pills they could make medium grade pills at best. However for someone like Linh Hong with monstrous soul power, he used his divine sense to forcefully extract all the medicine and form the pill - creating a high grade pill! Satisfied with the outcome, he placed the pills inside a jade bottle while taking out 10 for consumption.

"For now I'll have to bear with these high grade pills. Wait till I reach Qi Refining realm, then Supreme Grade pills can be created!" Ling Hong's eyes shone. Cultivating on Earth would no doubt be a challenge, but to him these challenges was a means to step into a new realm - the Divine Realm, which he failed to achieve in his last life.

Grabbing the pills, he swallowed them all at once. Then he assumed a meditative stance as he directed the energy of the pills to his dantian. Soon, the pills broke apart, releasing the energy trapped within. As the horrifying amount of energy rushed into his dantian, he started to direct it towards his meridians, bones and every single cell of his body. This was unlike tradition where one focused only on his meridians.

This was a secret that he found out by accident - if during body tempering one spread the energy within every part of the body, although the level would decrease one would gain benefit during transition to Qi Refining stage as it made the breakthrough chances increase by 20%!

Wave after wave of energy was released as the pills dissolved and Ling Hong continued to direct the energy as he had done before. After refining all the pills, he stood up and punched out twice. A sharp blast of wind swept past.

"Fifth Layer of Body Tempering , looks like this body has better talent for cultivation than I thought previously." he mused. Originally he had expected to be at the Third Layer but he had gone all the way up to mid-Fifth Layer. He took the rest of the pills to store when he realized that there were no spatial storages on Earth.

'If there aren't any I'll just make one.' he thought.

After searching for a good material for over an hour, he came across a jade ring belonging to the previous Ling Hong. It was the only clue about his origins as it was found with him when he was left on the door of the orphanage. The ring had an inscription of 'Yang'. He decided to investigate it once he returned to the city.

Using his soul power he carved out a spatial law along with a time restricting array to ensure that things wouldn't be spoiled. It was not very big for a spatial treasure, only a few feet of storage but was of use nonetheless. After storing the pills and other herbs, he got up and went to wake up his sister.
