The Devil's Pitchfork

"Good morning! We have news from Africa. President Mongali was fatally wounded after one of his convoys exploded on their way to the President's House from a charity ball last night. He's been rushed to the nearest hospital where he received emergency care and treatment. The president's spokesperson denies the allegation that this is a terrorist attack following the bombing of five religious places of worship days prior. Here's a clip:"

They showed a video of a man dressed finely addressing the matter surrounding the president's attack. "We still don't have any concrete information regarding this matter so we ask everyone to please let the authorities do their job. It's too early to jump to conclusion that this is part of a coordinated attack. The president is fighting for his life at the moment and we hope to find who did this and make him or her pay regardless of his identity."

Reporters clamored as soon as he finished his message but he gave no answer to any of their questions which spurred more questions and doubts than answers.

"Living nowadays is becoming scarier as we don't know who are the true evils among us. So we are asking all the authorities around the world to please help shed light on these dark times. This is Perri Kurtis, live from studio 5."

Meanwhile, Bulldog and Fabrizi sat in front of each other with a smile on their faces. "To a brighter future," Fabrizi toasted. "To a brighter tomorrow," Bulldog cheered. They clinked their glasses of wine.

"Anyway, when is he coming?" Fabrizi asked. Bulldog shrugged and focused on drinking. He was clearly enjoying the moment. Now that his brother is fatally wounded, the power is all his. How sweet that was. All those years, Bulldog remained under this brother's shadow from their parents who favored Mongali more to people around them. All his life, he never had the chance to be better. He was always compared to his brother. And all those years, he wished for his brother's death, the only way he knew that could break the shell of the emotional oppression that he was in.

"You know, I had a sweet dream last night," Bulldog told Fabrizi who became interested in what he's about to say. "I dreamt to be on top of a high altitude overlooking the whole world and then I saw you, you were holding a rare diamond. No... No... in my dream, the diamond was carved on your chest and you shone so bright that it dazzled me," he took a deep breath and exhaled with satisfaction, "You know what that means, right?"

Fabrizi nodded nervously but he pretended cool. He knew that if he'd complain about it, he would die because he's in his estate.

"Why? Fabrizi, why do you have to be the Devil's favorite? We work together. We put the same effort into everything. Why?" Bulldog smiled maliciously at poor Fabrizi who suddenly hold his neck as he struggled to breathe.

"W-what... hak... w-why?" he struggled to speak as he held his neck. His eyes popped like they're about to explode. Bulldog took Fabrizi's glass and broke it to pieces with his hand. The glass shattered like diamonds.

"I'm sorry, old friend. But your time in this world is over. Thank you for your kind services," Bulldog whispered as Fabrizi collapsed in his last breath. Bulldog called his servants and asked them to clean the room. Fabrizi was taken to the woods in Bulldog's property, where a grave was waiting for him. They buried his body and went to the chateau as if nothing horrendous happened. They were drinking, partying, smoking weed.

"Boys, get ready. Tomorrow, we will attend my brother's funeral," Bulldog ordered. The men cheered as they continued partying and getting high.

Meanwhile, Mevious was already on his way to Africa. He had to welcome Bulldog and his team. He had to look legit or else, all his efforts would go to waste. It's twelve midnight and three hours more before landing. He pondered at his plans and remembered his late friend, Hanz's dying wish.

"Hanz, my order to the gunman was clear. If you attempt to harm me in any way, they will shoot," Mevious warned when Hanz held the knife under that table. Mevious was quick to notice it so he gave him a warning as he wasn't planning to kill him. He was just trying to scare him to get some confession. Nevertheless, it was true that he ordered his gunman to shoot just in case, knowing Hanz's mental state.

"I told you, you're no match to those devils! I'd rather die than be their slave again," Hanz cried.

"I will help you. If only I know who they are, it would be easier for me to deal with them. Hanz, you know me. If I commit to something, I will achieve it whatever the cost," Mevious convinced.

Hanz was quiet. He cried. He banged his head on the wooden table and it started to bleed. Mevious heard the clanging of the knife as it touched the floor when Hanz let go of it. Mevious was relieved because he thought that Hanz would finally confess. Instead, he picked the knife again and charged at him. Mevious panicked.

Bang!

"No!" Mevious screamed as he pushed Hanz away but it too late. The bullet went through his chest, puncturing his lungs and liver. He was bleeding.

"Hanz! Fuck! Hanz! " Mevious yelled.

Hanz was choking with his own blood pouring from his mouth. "Li..am, The un...chables, Fr...a..nce... F- Fa...bri...zi, B-bu...ll...do...g, Y... Y...," before he could even say the last words, he died in his arms. Mevious cried and thanked him. After hearing the gunshot, Mevious's friends clamored at Hanz's cottage. Mevious explained what happened. He said it was an accident. After mourning, they buried him in his favorite spot on the island.

After what happened, Mevious went straight to his cabin and found Ana crying on their bed. "I'm sorry, love. I hate to do that," Mevious apologized.

"I understand. You don't have to be sorry, I would gladly do it again if you needed me," she replied as Mevious wiped her tears.

Earlier that day, Mevious's mom informed him about Hanz's plan to kill him. He was contracted by the Untouchables to get revenge on the king. Mevious couldn't believe it and his mom told him that she overheard the conversation of their servant with their gardener, who happened to be Hanz's cousin. In disbelief, Mevious checked his room for any bug and after ten minutes of searching, he found it under his drawer--- a recorder.

He was in total shock. Then, asked Ana to walk with her. When they were alone, he told him about his plan. Ana was shaking in fear but Mevious assured her that either she killed or they will both die. Then she decided to pull the trigger.
