Chapter 4 (Phoenix's pov)

~Years ago....~

"Max we need to go now," Carley said with a hint of urgency. He gave her a puzzled look but knew better than to fight. "The Neverseen are going to win, we are all going to die." She said tearing up, memories flashing in her head. She handed Max a sleeping child and turned away. "W-wha-what? Where are you going?" Max protested. "To fight, someone needs to save our people." She glanced at the child and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Then walked away, her swords gleaming in the moonlight. "You'll save us all one day," he whispered.

~In the present~

"Phoenix." came a muffled voice. I covered my head with my pillow and groaned. "Get up, you're going to be late for school." the voice said. "Crud! I can't be late!" I lept out of bed and raced to my closet. "A pink dress? No, too girly. A green sweater? No, I'd be too hot. A blacktop with dark red shorts and for shoes black converse? Perfect!" I quickly put on my outfit and made a run for it, quickly grabbing my hoodie to hide my emerald green eyes since elves weren't supposed to have green eyes. I need to get there quickly! But riding something won't be fast enough. I'll just have to run for it! I began to run as fast as my legs would let me go. I must make it! I can't be late! I stopped at the entrance and stood panting. Once I had caught my breath I ran inside. Not paying attention I bumped into someone. "Sorry," I mumbled and stepped back. "Oh hi! I'm Carma what's your name? she asked. "Oh me I'm no one," I said hurriedly. "Clearly you are someone! Please tell me your name." She practically begged. I thought for a moment whether or not I should tell her, but she probably won't leave me alone until I do. "Phoenix," I said and turned away. "Cat!" Carma said quickly. "Oh, I mean, my name's Phoenix," I said walking away quickly trying to escape social interaction. That's when I heard it, a voice. I looked around but no one was near enough to be that loud. I started walking again towards my first class when I saw him. He was tall and had messy frost white hair with lightning blue tips, a half-tucked in grey shirt, and ripped jeans. He looked down up from the book he was reading and stared at me. Strangely the blue tips turned pink! He looked away quickly and somewhat ignored me. Wow-what a 'great' way to start my day, I thought sadly. First, an annoying girl named Carma. Then, I cute guy with interesting hair that completely ignored me. I looked at my feet and continued walking. Finally, I was there. "Good morning." I greeted my teacher. This class was E. I took a seat near the back. As I sat down the boy with color-changing hair walked in and took a seat in the front. "Ahh, welcome Winter your right on time. After class, I need to speak to you about something. It's no trouble though!" Lady Garavine said. Winter shifted in his seat and I noticed that all the girls were looking at him with goo-goo eyes.

After class, I walked to where my locker was. I licked the lock pad and it tasted lemony. I opened it and inside was a note that said welcome. I sensed someone behind me and turned to see Winter. I squeaked startled. "Hello, I'm Winter as you probably know already. Lady Garavine asked me to help you get settled into the school," he said with a straight face but somehow his hair held.....emotion. The voice rang in my head again and I looked around confused again. When I looked back at Winter he was looking at me like he couldn't see me. I squeaked in fear not knowing what was happening. Almost all of elf's abilities started kicking in around 13, but I had only recently been able to feel others' emotions. Staring at my hands I saw the flicker in and out of vision. Was I a vanisher too? "I- I have t-to go," I said

(So my friend wrote this part, she is not technically an author for our fan fiction but she asked if I could put it in. This is like a side story that's apart from our main fanfic but I was too lazy to make a whole other book for her.
