~Chapter 4~

Of course, I hid my hand in my pockets or jacket sleeve the whole day. I didn't see Miles after that either.

My breath was seen in the air when I let out a sigh, walking to the front door of my wooden house.

Today was tough, I was definitely anxiety high, Overly cautions, and way to alert.

When I got to my room I tossed my back pack in the corner and plopped on the bed. Groans were heard throughout the room when I did so, I forgot I had this huge bruise on my stomach.... Probably need to be more aware.

When I sat up I brung my leg onto the bed, pulling up the pants leg. My wound was fully healed, barely a scar either. If there wasn't a scar I might have thought I just tripped and fell over a fallen branch and landed on a root. Who knows what happened last night..because I sure don't.

I mean, there was two new wolves, one bit me. This necklace-wait-the necklace!? I could have gotten whiplash from how fast I turned my head to my bedside table. Quickly getting up then searching the drawer for the necklace I was soon to find sitting in a bunch at the corner of the drawer.

I let out a relieved sigh. And put the necklace around my neck. I should probably keep this on from now on.. if anyone asks why I have a necklace or how I got it, I'll just say I found it at a local store and thought it was cool. People do it all the time.

When I finished putting the accessory on I caressed my knuckles. Dad was gonna be home soon.

Freshly washed hair, clean clothes, and food in front of me. I was at the dinner table, was an awkward silence that fell in the air. That was until I tapped my finger on the table getting my dads attention at my hand.

"What did you do? Punch a tree?" Dad laughed at his own joke. I stayed monotone.

"No sir. Miles came at me again and I punched him.." I mumbled slightly after I swallowed the food in my mouth.

"Oh, really?" He took a sip of his tea that was once sitting in front of him, glancing over the rim of the glass over at me, "Is that all you did? Punch him?" He asked after setting his drink down.

"No Sir." I sighed, "I kneed him in the face, and kicked him in the balls.." I mumbled the last line. What happens if he's not satisfied with what I had to do?

"Humph, well.." My dad looked over at me, a grin across his face, "did you get caught?" When he asked I shook my head, giving a solid 'No' in return, "That's my boy. Maybe he won't be able to reproduce now." My dad chuckled to himself, my mom gave a disapproving sigh as she continued to eat while staying silent.

"Maybe.." I mumbled to myself and went back to eating, then the normal conversation of the woods and equipment went on.

What I did was wrong.. but it was necessary.

Clothes shuffled while I hurried to put them on. It was going to rain in an hour, and I still hadn't went out to see the wolf. I'm not early, but I always tend to stay longer than expected. Not to mention, I'm not good with storms. Or just the lightening and thunder thing in general.

When I rushed out the house, patting my shirt to make sure my necklace was tucked into it. It was.

The snow crunched beneath my feet, some thunder rumbled through the clouds that were gray overhead.

I sighed, walking past the tree line into the trees. The wind was rushing past my face, blowing my hair wonkily. I listened into the trees for any branches being broken, hell, maybe even a growl. You never know now..

When I got to the point I first saw the wolf he was no where to be seen. My lips went into a flat line and my brows knitted together. Where could he be?..This was the deal; Meet back here.

When the wolf didn't show up five minutes later, I started walking to the edge of a cliff that split the mountain. Where I met the dark red wolf. Wasn't the best experience..

I sat near the edge and looked out, there was a river in between the mountains, separating them. I wonder what's over there... or if dad had explored that territory..?

My cold breath filled the air when I let out a sigh. The mountains on the other side looked darker, colder, maybe even a bit eerie...

But if you looked at this mountain from that one, I bet it would give off the same vibe. Maybe it's because it doesn't seem to look as if someone had a house over there.

I heard snow crunch behind me and I looked back, seeing the grey and white wolf from yesterday sitting a good distance away. Should I run?.. maybe not a good idea when you're on the end of the cliff. Literally.

The wolf tilted its head, standing to walk closer, and I didn't back away. If something were to happen, I had faith the black wolf would be here soon enough.

The grey wolf was only two feet away. Swallowing quietly, I shifted to get a better sight at the oversized dog.

"You're not gonna hurt me are you?" I questioned with a raised brow, while the wolf came beside me and sat looking over the edge, "No?.." I starred wide eyed, a small smile was being caught back on my lips.

The wolf sighed, then looked at me.

Did I do something?..I feel like this is the look your brother would give you when you get into trouble he warned you of. Then again, I don't have a brother. How would I know?

The dog shifted, facing me at a better angle. His tail laid out in the snow. My eyes watched while he moved, then noticed a grey pendant hidden in his fur. Is that...

I looked at the wolf with furrowed eyebrows, the dog didn't do anything when I reached out for the pendant. My thumb ran over the outline of the wolf on the mountain before I laid it back against the animals fur. It was the same as the one the black wolf gave me.

"How....." I couldn't find the words to use, so I changed the subject. "Where's the red wolf?" I looked back into the trees, where some thick bushes lined some area's.

The wolf growled and whined at the question.

"Don't want to talk about it, huh?" I asked when I looked back at the animal with its ears down.

I saw a sharp thunderbolt strike somewhere in the mountain on the other side of the river. I'll have to get the name of those mountains out of my history book tomorrow. Even though I sucked at finding names of places.

The wolf whimpered, and looked at me.

"Are you.....afraid of the storms too?" A pause before the wolf laid his head on my lap. "No?" I questioned. Why was he whining then?

A few minutes later you could hear the rain on the mountain ahead of us, my hands were tangled in the wolf's fur, scratching his ears and chin.

"Did the black wolf send you here to bring me home and keep me company?.." the wolf opened his eyes, looking up at me with the golden ones he had. You never notice how pretty the animals can be until your attacked and then cuddled by one, I guess.

Standing on all fours the wolf nudged at my leg with his paw.

"Oh," He sent him here to.. "Is he making you apologize?" I laughed when the wolf made an unamused face, "I guess, I'm right."

I stood up, walking back into the trees while the wolf followed shortly behind, soon catching up to be beside me.

Every time I made a wrong turn through the woods, the dog would push me in the right direction with his head and muzzle.

You can tell the black wolf had most likely told him to do this.. I can't understand anything anymore..

I saw my porch light, a few raindrops in the way of my view as they landed on my rounded glasses lens.

"Thank you." I gave the wolf a smile, while the animal made its way back into the woods.

Some rain turned into snow, some didn't.. it was a weird mix. But as far as I know, this was a weird mountain. I went inside

the quiet house, taking my shoes off at the door before getting to my room up the stairs.

"Maybe we should tell him.." I heard my mom down stairs. Apparently the walls are thinner than I had thought.

"I mean, we could. But he isn't gonna like it." My dad spoke.

I changed clothes, continuing to listen in on my parents below me in their room.

"It doesn't matter if he likes it, it's best for him, Derin." My mother said sternly.

What are they discussing, and why do I have a feeling I really am not gonna like it?..

"Then it's settled, Adonis." My father said sternly, "We will make him go." I heard a sigh.

Make me go where? And why?

"Maybe he won't take it as bad... School is almost over, and he will be bored all summer in his room. So, this can be a good thing for the boy." My father spoke, making my mother snicker and laugh.

"Maybe." After my mom was done speaking, I was already in my bed with a clean set of clothes on. My hand held the necklace through the fabric of my shirt.

It was breakfast, and I was at the table eating cereal before school.

"Lawrynce." My father said sternly, making my gaze shift from the table to my father.

"Sir?" I furrowed my eyebrows, taking another bite of the food in front of me.

"We are sending you to a summer camp. " A pause, "Weather you like it or not, you're g-" I cut off my father.

"Yes sir." I wasn't about to argue even if it sounded like a good reason too. I'm not very social as is, why would I want to go to a camp where the main purpose is socializing?

"Oh." My mother blinked, and clapped, "Then you will start right when school ends!" Why was she so yippity? Bipolar people..

"That's great! Me and your mother will be at work all summer and summer camp was the best option Lawrynce. Thank you for understanding." Dad spoke, while my mom had came behind me and kissed my forehead from the side. I cringed and nodded, shrugging her away.

"Yeah, I understand." I spoke quietly, being finished with my food; I stood and took it over to the sink to wash.

I looked out the window above the sink at the snowy trees, I saw a squirrel run by and smiled. Finishing up with the bowl and spoon I set it on the drying rack, when I looked back up I saw the midnight black wolf in the tree line. Or at least thought I did.

"Lawrynce!" My mom yelled, making me jump and turn around. She must have called me a few times before..

"M-ma'am?" I answered quickly.

"Where did you get the necklace?" My dad butted in with the question. I knew someone was going to ask.

"A gift shop. I stopped by one after school and got one with Stephen. Although I didn't show him because I didn't want him to make fun of it." I gave a believable laugh and lie.

"Why is it tucked into your shirt, hun?" My mom walked over about to try and get my necklace from its place in my shirt before I pushed her out of the way so I could walk through the kitchen.

"Because, I-" I started up the stairs, "I'm going to get ready for school!" I changed the subject and slammed my room door with a huff.

Summer camp.... maybe it won't be that bad. Right after school...so in a week?

I had met up with Stephen and a couple more of his friends. I didn't socialize with them much, I would like to only have Stephen as that one friend then have multiple and have to split my attention.

After that talk with mom and dad I didn't see the wolves again, even if I walked outside to see them every night till today. The only live things I saw was a couple birds and squirrels. One coyote too, but I was out of there too fast to even think straight.

Now it was Friday...that last day of school. Our school schedule runs weird, it goes from the end of summer to the start of it. Or is that a normal school schedule these days?

Stephen nudged me in the shoulder, "You alright there, bud? You're spacing out." He whispered while I gave a quick nod.

"I'm fine, just thinking. Remember how I told you my mom is sending me to summer camp?" With that he groaned, "Yep, that's how I feel too."

We both shared a small laugh until he broke it, "I have summer football camp, so it had to be one thing I can't help you with, Lawrynce." He sighed. I put my hand on his shoulder, he waved to his friends 'bye' while we went to our class.

"It's fine, it's only summer. I'll be back and you can help me with all my other life problems." I chuckled, sitting in my desk after pushing him towards his own.

He didn't have time to reply back; the teacher had walked in. Last day of class. It's more pleasurable to say than it looks.

Schools over, summer camp is starting. I'm packing my bags currently, wondering what ways I can get out of everything at camp. Hide in the bathroom stalls? Under the bed? Is there a closet? Hah, I have no clue how I'm gonna survive at a camp like this.

Ninety two days of this... better to start and get it over with.

I packed everything that I would need, ya'know, like on a vacation. Just this is an unwanted one. I adjusted my glasses, and walked to my closet.

"I think that's everything." I spoke to myself. I had packed two weeks worth of clothes, most of the clothes in my closet.

I zipped up the suitcase, then pulled it to the floor, pulling out the handle on top. I started to role it out the door, and down the stairs. My mom was already at the door, waiting impatiently.

"Gonna miss me?" I asked with a slight amused face while I walked out the door, the cold breeze brushing my hair back into my face while I looked at my mom still in the house. She was putting on her shoes.

"You're my kid, of course, I'll miss you." He said standing back up after the shoe mishap, "Okay, let's go." She darted off passed me, straight to the Jeep.

"Yeah, yeah! Leave your son, just like you're about to do anyways." I mumbled to myself, picking up the suitcase before I tossed it in the back.

"What was that?" She asked.

"Nothing, play some music. Make the ride bearable before I leave." I laughed, getting into the passenger side and buckling the seatbelt.

"Fine kid, so pushy." My mom shook her head, the engine came on making weird noises because of the cold chill as it heated up.

"I get it from you, so don't try and pin all that on me." I spoke sarcastically.

"Bye! Make sure you wear sunblock!" I groaned and waved her away, Truly wanting her to come back,..but in regards to what she had just said, it was all on purpose. Her main purpose as a mom is to embarrass me, I get that now.

Thank god, there wasn't many kids at the entrance. And the ones who were; weren't focused on me, they had already started making friends. How lovely.

Not to mention, all males so far. I guess the females had something better to do?

"Hey, kid!" A very tan man called me from the corner of the building, I was just about to go inside, "Your name Lawrynce?" He asked walking closer to me. I stood still with a nod, the knuckles on my hand holding the handle of my suitcase went white from my grip.

"Yes, yes sir, I am." I spoke politely, a small smile on my face to the middle aged male.

"Alright, I'm your caretaker while you're here. You're the first in your small district to show up." He said, looking back at the cars pulling up.

"How many are in my district?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"Four, not including you. Three less than usual, that's why it's a small district. And it's my first year to do this, that's another reason." He chuckled to me, making me nod in understanding. He held the door open, letting me walk in.

"Any chance I can get out of here sooner than ninety two days?" I asked sitting at one if the chairs at the table a few yards in front of the main doors.

"Nope, but I hope you like it here. You are one of those who don't want to be here, huh?" He lifted a brow at me.

"Yup," I sighed, tapping my finger on the handle of my suitcase, "What's the other kids names?" I asked looking at the doors that we came in through. There was more people coming inside now, it was starting to fill out the area. Why were there only males?

"Marcus and Lucas those two are bothers. Then there is Finn and Derek." He gave me a smile. Only boy names too..

"Where's all the girls?" I asked, looking around at the crowd of people, feeling anxiety rise. I hate crowds..

"Oh, is that a reason you agree'd to come here? For the females?" He laughed, and I shook my head vigorously, "No? Good to know your a good kid. This is an all boys summer camp." He propped himself up on the table.

"Wait, those exist?" I asked, looking back at my caretaker.

"Yup, not many in this state. Luckily we have this one though. A lot of people don't go to camps because of the possibility's that can happen when there is to many female's. Oh, did I not mention my name?" The male in front of me looked from the crowd down to me, "I'm Oliver." He held out a hand for me to shake it. I hesitated at first, but gave in, shaking the older males hand.

"Nice to meet you Oliver, as you already know; I'm Lawrynce." I added with a small smile. A whistle blew behind us, everyone looked towards the sound.

"Here are the rules to start this summer camp." A older male with a cap on and some sporty looking clothes said.

This is the start of an completely off course summer..
