~Chapter 5~

Almost as if time was running, the whole summer was flying by. And may I mention, it hasn't been completely horrible.

Surprising, right?

Well, I wrote along in a journal when I got bored.

Almost all the pages are filled. Future me is going to have a field day with that.

Oliver has also been one of the most awesome camp councilors ever.

Is it weird I'm saying these things? Summer camp has really changed me, I guess.

Not all too much... I mean,...we did sneak out to the pool.

"Lawrynce! Hurry the hell up! My grandma' can go faster, man!" Derek yelled.

He was my favorite at this camp so far, shameless, and he was the one to crack the shell I had been hiding in for what? Two weeks?

"Give him a break! The poor boy is probably scared to death after what you did!" Finn called back, gesturing a hand between me and Derek.

Haha, funny. Derek punched a guy. But it was on my behalf, so I'm not all too mad. But, again, I should have stuck up for myself.

"He's not scared! He's slow!" Derek once again, commented on my speed. I mean, I'm walking, it's one in the morning, and I'm in swim trunks only. Do I really have to run?

The moon was shining through some of the trees above, making these orb like puddles of light on the ground.

Being in the woods reminded me of my wolf.

Do I even have the right to call him mine?

It's just a dog, I'll call him mine if I want.

I wasn't that far behind the boys. And by boys, I mean; Finn, Derek, Marcus, and Lucas. We are all here.

Marcus and Lucas turned out to be the silent type, but I still don't believe they are all too innocent. The two will look at each other and just start laughing. Like, what? Do you read each other's minds or am I just overthinking?

"Woo-hoo!" Sounds like Finn made it to the pool just fine. And the diving board.

"Be quiet dumbass, they might hear you." Derek walked around the edge just as I emerged from the woods. Did I even mention why we went through the woods? No? Well, we figured out the other day that if we cut through, we could get to the pool a lot easier and faster.

"Well, if they hear him we can all just run. He was loud, not us." Marcus cut in, the first words we have heard from him since we snuck out. Lucas on the other hand has yet to make even a peep.

I yawned, watching all four slowly get in.

"Is it cold?" I asked, poking my toe in the water. Even by doing that, I couldn't really tell.

"No, not at all. It's actually quite warm!" Derek whisper shouted.

But how can I trust him? He's always the one to prank us, or get us in trouble accidentally.

While I looked for signs the water was actually cold, I noticed Lucas, holding his arms and his teeth chattering together. Warm, huh?

"Nope." I walked away from the pools edge, "Wait," turning around, I noticed. "Where's Finn?" Then almost as soon as the words left my mouth, I was tackled, straight into that ice cold freezing water. And guess who did it.

"Finn! I'm going to Ki-Kill you!" Trying to whisper shout while your cold and angry, does not work all to well.

The four were steadily laughing as my wet black hair was brushed from my eyes.

"You all are demons from hell, I swear." I snarled, then almost panicked when I noticed my glasses had fallen off. Or as Stephen would put it, my Harry Potter glasses.

What? They're sort of adorable.

Anyways, I forgot I left them at the dorms.

Explains why everything from four yards away is a puddle of blur.

Wait.

Is that..?

Swimming to the pool edge, I looked out into the woods, and a pair of purple eyes stared back. I know those eyes.

"Lawrynce!" Finns yell snapped me out of it. Jerking my gaze back to him instead of the woods, "What are you looking at?" He asked, "We have been calling you for like, two minutes, no answer." The tan male lifted a brow, and as I looked back to the woods he did too. There really was nothing there. Or was there? Maybe I'm hallucinating..

"Are you okay, man? Is the cold getting to your head?" Derek teased, coming beside me at the side of the pool.

"No, no, I just thought I saw a deer." I quickly came up with a fib, lifting myself up and sitting on the pools ledge while the other four made fun, splashed, and sometimes even tried to dunk each other. I wasn't that type of person. I don't enjoy dunking someone under water. I fear it. What if they come back up and do the same? The worst freaking pain in the world is when you get water up your nose!

We never got caught,...but, Not to mention, I've also wandered off into the night after I saw that "wolf".

I still don't know if I actually saw anything, but I was curious to know if I had.

So, that's another fun story I had written in my Journal.

What am I even doing? I'm out and about in the freezing cold air. Oh yeah, did I mention it's like, always cold here? Yeah, it's not fair.

Not at all.

A crunch of leaves echoed behind me. Gulping, I looked back and saw a rabbit. He wasn't very far away, but I knew if I moved any closer, I wouldn't be seeing a rabbit. Meaning; he would run.

I sighed. "Just a rabbit..." I muttered, continuing my walk in the woods.

It was bright out, the moon lit up the sky, forest, and almost anywhere you would look. I didn't see it at first, but now that my eyes are adjusted to the lighting, I really wouldn't even need a lantern.

Good thing I forgot it then.

Around a hour or two later there was still nothing, and I was pretty sure I would have gotten lost if I went any farther.

But now that I think about it, maybe that would have drawn the wolf back to me.

Every time I got lost, the wolf would literally walk me home.

So, maybe I should have kept walking that night.

Or maybe I was seeing things.

But, on the other hand, I saw a rabbit and I think I saw a bird with hair.

Maybe I am delusional..

Do birds even come out at night?

I set the journal down on the top bunk(considering I sleep up there. I was scared to fall at first, but it hasn't happened yet.), searching through my bag afterwards.

The rustling must have woke up Finn, since he was right under my bunk and my bag was right next to his bed.

The mattresses were not bad, but they definitely sucked when you have back problems.

At least that's what Derek was complaining about.

Everyone else was asleep, but Finn now, "What are you doing?.." he asked whispering, his voice groggy and laced with sleep.

I whispered back, "Getting my sketch book, go back to sleep." I didn't even look up from my bag when I spoke to him, but once I didn't get a reply back I knew he had already did what I told him to do.

There's also this talent I figured out I had, sketching, or drawing. Whatever you want to call it.

Apparently I can draw very well.

I only noticed I could when I was in the middle of answering a "What to do when you can't find water." sheet, and I had thought about the wolf.

I ended up doodling a very small but very detailed picture of the animal.

And now, I've been practicing and doing bigger portraits. I can actually draw almost a colorless exact replica of the dog with led.

I usually hid my journal under my mattress or in my bag since people never really check there. But, I don't think I'm done with it tonight. I'm actually not tired at all, so I may just write more on how it's been here, or just do side doodles in it.

And the sunshine coming through the window greeted me.

The sketch book on my chest just gives a label on me that says, "I fell asleep drawing, and now that I look at it, I think I lost my pencil.."

Which is honest, I think I lost my pencil.

"Hey, Rynce, this yours?" Lucas looked up at me on the top bunk from the floor, "It was on the ground, didn't want anyone to kick it around." The small boy held out my pencil.

The boy was around my age, fair skin, slightly tan.

Although, his brother must be noticeably more sociable, Marcus was tanner.

I guess that's how I know which from which. The two are completely identical. From eyes to their laugh patterns, identical.

I took my pencil politely with a nod, "Thank you, Lucas." The raven haired boy nodded, and sat back under Marcus' bed.

Derek was all alone, the lonely bunk.

I climbed down the ladder, earning creaking and some annoying sounds that the ladder would make at five in the morning when I'm just trying to quietly leave to use the restroom.

I tugged down the covers and fixed it from where I was standing.

On the third ladder step.

Picking up the sketch pad, supplies, and stuffing them in my bag, then my journal.

"It's leaving day,... summer is almost over.." Finn said, his hands resting on his stomach while he looked up at the bunk above him in bed.

"Huh,...I guess we are leaving Today...I completely forgot." Marcus peeked his head from above the wooden railing on the top bunk.

The room was silent, besides the creaking of the ladder where Marcus climbed down and the snores Derek was making.

"Should we wake him?" Lucas asked.

"Nah,...let him sleep in a bit more." Finn replied, sitting up in bed, looking over the footboard at the bleached tipped haired male asleep on his back in the bed across from him.

"Or..." I grabbed a pillow off one of the extra bunks, then walked over to Dereks. The boys behind me where snickering and stifling laughter. Which is funny, because I did it to them not too long ago.

I slung the pillow down onto Dereks face, I didn't earn a reaction. "Dang, talk about a hard sleeper." Marcus said, laughing quietly to himself. I pulled the pillow away and Derek was glaring back at me, which to be honest, scared the shit out of me, "I take that back.." Marcus muttered.

His facial expression was monotone and annoyed, "Good morning to you spawns of Satans too." He scowled and sat up.

"Still not a morning person." Lucas said, then flinched when Derek snapped his gaze to him. Backing away, I laughed to myself.
