~Chapter 7~

Okay, so, the burning down the kitchen was not what I should have been afraid of..

The kitchen was literally a mess itself. Our final dishes were simple,...but somehow,..it looked like we just brutally murdered a explosive confetti cake.

"Finally, done!" Finn called out, taking a,...what is that?

"And thats....?" Stephen must have read my mind.

"It's...Uhm.....I don't know, I thought about pasta and hoped it would appear." Finn set the concoction on the table on two mittens.

"That's not how that works.." Stephen stifled a laugh, and so did I.

"Noticed!" He laughed himself, then dusted his hands off, turning to Lawrynce, "Anyways, what did you two make?" Finn turned towards Stephen.

"I made an omelette with bacon bits in it." Stephen said then faced me, and it seemed all the attention was directed towards me now.

"Oh! I...." heat rose to my cheeks, mine wasn't as good as Stephens, but hopefully not as bad as Finns. "I made chicken soup..." I mumbled.

"Wimpy wolf meat." Finn stated with a finger pointed to the sky, then it lowered and suddenly was pointing at me, "What were you doing all your life? Hiding under a rock?" Finn asked with a small smirk.

"Should you be the one talking?" Stephen waved his hands towards the concoction Finn had made with a sly smirk.

"Hah!" I laughed, maybe a bit childish but oh well.

"No, I have zero rights. But, have you tasted it yet?" Finn seemed pretty amused with his.....magical pasta.

"No, but I'm not going to if I'm going to get food poisoning." Stephen smarted off, making me laugh, "Lawrynce, you have made chicken soup before. It's not bad, so you are my main rival." Stephen pointed out, then Finn scoffed.

"How rude.." he glared at us both and then laughed, I knew he couldn't keep a straight face like that for long.

"Okay, Finn, yours is first." I said then cut a piece of it with a knife I had in my hand from earlier, "By the way, you both have to help clean the kitchen." I said, then hid my small mischievous grin.

"Nope." Stephen started walking out of the room, then got grabbed at the back of the collar of his shirt by Finn, pulling him back.

"Both of us." Finn said, I was done putting out three plates with the random...mess Finn had made.

"Oh no.." Stephen was faced with the food and I handed him a fork out of the drawer.

"Oh yes." I mocked, stabbing the food and quickly getting it over with by stuffing it in my mouth. It wasn't horrible at first. At first.

"I've never cooked before. I'm not eating that." Finn laughed, had he really just...

Stephen looked as if he was about to puke, which made me laugh then I spat it out and disposed of it in the trash, "You have ruined that once perfectly fine pan." I said, and tossed the whole thing in the trash. Stephen was gone to the bathroom.

The sun had set and darkness was all you could see from outside, and that darkness lingered in some sections of the house.

"Your house is creepy when it's dark.." Finn mumbled, looking around the dining room from where he stood in the kitchen. Yeah, the dining room was pitch black.

"Maybe something will eat you if you go over there." Oh, Stephen was back from the restroom, "That....you almost got charged for murder." Stephen glared at Finn.

"Mine next!" I said, breaking the two taller males tension from staring.

Guess what! I ended up winning! That's the first, though Finn didn't seem so amused with the chicken in the soup but he still ate it. It was better than Stephens for once. Which his was good too, it's just...hah, I won! So, clearly it wasn't the best.

All three of us were sitting on the bed, Finn stood and stood under the moon light that was coming in from the ceiling window light. What did that remind me of? Stephen was laughing about something on his phone while I stared at Finn. Once he looked at me I looked away and pretended to laugh at something that Stephen was saying.

"I know, right? The freaking schools here are bonkers." Stephen huffed in aggravation. And Finn was back on the bed. "Anyways," Stephen set his phone on the bedside table, "Kitchens clean. What now?" He asked.

"I don't know.." Finn mumbled and put his hands in the air after he situated himself laying down, examining his hands like they were something he had never seen. Wasn't out of the ordinary with Finn.

Stephen lifted a brow at the partially blond other male.

"Uhm, Finn," Finn snapped his gaze towards me and hummed to prove he was listening, "What time did you get home yesterday?" I asked, sitting against the headboard of the bed.

"Uhm..like, three. I got home a bit earlier than you all, I think." He answered, then I looked to Stephen who seemed intrigued with something with the other male.

"Do you..perhaps..live in the woods too?" Stephen asked, tilting his head a bit to the side. What's wrong with him? Why is he acting so....non-stephen-ish.

"Uh, yeah. I live right about that way." Finn pointed in the direction of Stephens house, "That reminds me, is that your house that's so close to Lawrynce's?" He asked.

"Yes. So, there's another house that way?" Stephen asked, then I tapped his arm.

"Stop. Truth or dare." I tried changing the subject, targeting the question to Stephen. Maybe I can figure out what's up with him this way. That was the plan after all.

Truth or dare ended, and my parents got home. Hope mom doesn't ask for her favorite pan. Along with the fact that I didn't get anything out of Stephen(who was asleep on the bed with Finn.) I also didn't find anything new about Finn.

I was sitting under the light of the open window seal, thinking of what it could be that Finn has reminded me of standing there. Humming in thought, I started chewing my cheek. A habit I thought I had got rid of that was coming back.

Is what Finn reminded me of a "what"? Or a "who"?

A breath escaped my lips, filling the silence of the room. With a gulp I got out of the bed. I wasn't going to figure anything out by sighing, now was I? I know it's wrong to snoop, but...

I looked down over the bed, seeing Stephens backpack propped against the side of the bed. He had brought it inside earlier but slouched it against the door, he must have brought it in here when he went to use the bathroom.

Quietly and slowly after unzipping the zipper to Stephens backpack, I looked through his schoolwork. There wasn't anything but passing grades there. At least the boy was smart. Sort of.

Until..

I pulled out a double folded piece of paper. Looked like something Stephen was working on. Something he was really intrigued in, so, this had to be what I was looking for! But, "Damnit.." I whispered under my breath. It had water stains on it. It seemed to have smudged and erased some of the words.

[Taken from Stephens backpack]
