It's been three days. I haven't learned much more about Alexavier, mainly because I haven't taken the time to ask and barge in his personal life. Not yet at least.
Right now, I was sitting at the dining table across from Carden, his mate Gannon beside him, and Alexavier beside me. We were in an awkward silence that really made me uncomfortable, so, I tried talking to lighten the mood.
"Gannon, how long have you been in this pack?" I asked, looking up from my plate to ask the question before I started to eat again. Gannon lifted his brows and hummed.
Everyone had large portions of meat and very little vegetables on their plate. But with me, it was the complete opposite and smaller portions. I learned that werewolves have much bigger diets than humans. Much, much, bigger diets.
"All my life, basically." Gannon said, looking over at Carden who was steadily eating like a normal person instead of almost engulfing it like Alexavier.
I nodded and hummed, "That's cool. Are your parents still around?" I questioned, looking up to meet Gannon's dark brown eyes in a respectable manner.
"Yeah, they live in a different pack away from here. They were getting too old for all of the heavy lifting and bringing in the supplies and food runs. So, they went to what Carden calls 'The Old Folk Home' pack. Whatever that means." Gannon shrugged as I glimpsed ahead at Cardens small, peeking, grin. I understood it, and didn't know I was smiling until Gannon lifted a brow at Alex.
"What?" Alex questioned, looking up from his plate.
"You don't get it either?" He asked.
"No, I do. It's where old people go to live in the human world. Makes sense why Carden would call it that." Alexavier chuckled and glanced at my side profile before I stood, bringing my plate to the kitchen while everyone else continued to eat.
"Come. On!" Alexavier groaned, dragging me through the house, hand in hand, while I tried to tug myself back to the bed.
"It's two in the morning, Alex! Let me sleep!" I whined. I may not have actually wanted to sleep and more so meet myself in my own mind again. But still.
"No, you're coming with me." Alex said, tugging my wrist foreword before he picked me up and threw me over his right shoulder without a second thought. I sighed.
"Let me down! We aren't doing this again you lunatic!" I yelled angrily. I just wanted sleep.
"Stop whining! We aren't going to train again." He said back, holding under my knees and my back so I wouldn't fall off the side. My hands gripped his white t-shirt while I basically pouted the whole way outside.
Last night he drug me outside saying someone was there to see me, but it was a trap so he could teach me how to warm myself up in the cold. It's pretty neat actually..
"But, Alex!" I shouted.
"Hush, you have probably woken up the whole mountain side by now!" Alexavier shouted back in a lighter tone.
I saw green and blue illuminating on the snow, my eyebrows furrowing.
"Cover your eyes, Lawrynce." Alexavier said, continuing to walk up the mountain. Where the hell is he going!?
I covered my face with my hands, elbows propped up on Alex's back while my eyes shuts
"I'm not taking you to your death, so just.. Calm down, okay. It's sort of a surprise." Alex whispered, while I groaned, still reluctant to let him win another battle.
Alexavier sighed, "Fine. In the morning we can go visit Stephen, Derek, and the twins. Marcus and Lucas." Alex said, his voice uneven.
"Uhuh, and aren't we missing someone?" I asked, trying to think of someone that could have been missing. But no one was. I didn't know anyone else that I had talked to through camp. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, the twins, Derek, and Finn was who I met.. And Finn was only there to become close with me to get us where we are today.
Shocker, I guess everything turned out okay.. so far..
I heard Alex chuckle, "Your muttering again."
My face felt hot, but I didn't really care, or know why.
Maybe I was stupid for it, or maybe I was trying to hide it. Or maybe I was just plain old Lawrynce. Apparently never seeing the bigger picture when it's right in front of my eyes.
..Right in front of my eyes...
I thought on that line for a moment before I gasped, "Wait!" I whispered, shockingly, to myself.
"We're here." I had only been on Alex's shoulder for around seven minutes, and my stomach was starting to hurt due to being literally thrown over his shoulder. I'm fragile, please, be careful..
"Where-" I cut myself off with a squeak, being set back down on the ground. My hands fell from my eyes and when I looked up I could see Alex, but the background was the sky.
We were back on another mountain cliff, not even close to being at the top.
The sky was filled with stars, the moon a bright white, maybe even with a tint of blue, and the sky had purples, greens, and blue streaks going through it. I was mesmerized, Alex moving out of my line of view while I watched the colors morph together and almost seeming to fall.
"Do you want to go higher?" Alexavier asked me.
I visibly nodded, my eyes reflecting a clear image of the night back to him while Alex stared into the orbs that didn't dare look back at him.
"C'mon then. You're not cold are you?" He asked, standing only a couple feet away. I tore my gaze off of the mesmerizing sky to look at Alex and smile, "No, I am using that trick you taught me." I smiled.
If I'm being honest, I didn't even know I was using it until he said that. It's become automatic. It's a trick I can do only when Alex is around. I tested that earlier this morning. My feet and legs warming themselves up as if a layer of blanket were covering them. My arms would be the same if I wasn't wearing a fur jacket.
"Alright, hop on." Alex said, shifting quickly into his Midnight Black Wolf form.
Is it just me, or did his fur coat get even more shiny?
I smiled and nodded, carefully climbing onto his back while he laid flat. Once I was on, he stood, lifting me very high off the ground. It's been some hours before I had rode on the back of him or Finn. I forgot how powering it felt.
Oh! I remember what the sky is called now. It's an Aurora Borealis also known as the northern lights.
Once Alexavier started to run, I lowered myself. The cold against my hot cheeks actually felt really nice, like eating a popsicle on a hot summer day.
I held onto his fur tightly, not wanting to harm him but also not wanting to fall off and hurt myself. He huffed as he ran, a usual sound he had always made. I remember the first time I met him..
Well, what I thought was the first time I met him.
I was exploring idiotically through the woods late at night,... then I heard something in the snow and the, now, all too familiar growl.. I remember how scared I was, the adrenaline...
Maybe I could try something..
I shut my eyes, and hummed, "If he said I could stop time when I'm in my head... What if I can slow time somehow while I'm out of it?.." I mumbled quietly to myself.
The heat emitting from my body started to burn my skin, but it didn't have any affects on me. Alex, on the other hand, let out a small whine, probably to question what I was doing. I hummed and tried to calm the heat down, it was something I needed to get under control somehow, one way or another.
I huffed and sighed.
"C'mon, overcome it..." I mumbled to myself.
Even though it was only a what if, and Calvin hadn't mentioned it, what if I could slow time!
Maybe stopping it was enough, though..
Maybe, it's best if I don't try something I don't know of yet.
The heat didn't cool, or slow, or go away. The air rushing past me in a hurry. When I opened my eyes the land scape that went by was all a blur.
I let out a breath, something under my skin tingled. I didn't know what it was, but whatever it was wanted to be released.
It was persistent.
I sat up, following my instincts, I held out a hand next to me, and opened my palm.
A dark purple thin layer started to stretch over my hand, going down my arm as the glow it held shifted. You could see through it. But as it went around my arm, I couldn't feel the cold from the air anymore, it got..warm.
It went over my clothes and torso. Then it went over every piece of hair I had, my face, my legs, then it traveled over to Alexavier. It encased us both in this breathable, warm, thin, layer of... Magic?
It wasn't hurting me. It didn't seem to hurt or affect Alex. It actually made me feel safe..
then it clicked. Force Field.
So, that's what this is. A Force Field. Alexavier must have sensed it, considering he wasn't worried or bothered. I put my arm down and laid back down onto his back. "Like it?" I asked goofily, a grin spreading itself onto my lips. I didn't mean to make it, but now I'm accustom to it. I know how to use it. It's mine..
Alexavier huffed and sighed, soon stopping as we skid to a halt on the snow. When I looked up, we were at the top. The top of the mountain and in the Aurora Borealis. The colors surrounded us, my guard being taken down by amazement while the Force Field fell. The cold took over my body again. Alexavier shifted and set me down on the ground once my shoe'd feet hit the snow. I shivered and looked around. The snow was so bright, and clean, and it looked as if no one had ever stepped foot up there. It was fresh.
I smiled, my body warming itself back up once I wrapped my hands around my stomach. It was still quite cold. The temperature must have dropped the further up we went because of the atmosphere.
I looked at Alex who was standing beside me, looking down at the short curls on my head.
I didn't have my glasses on, so everything was definitely blurry, but in this case, blurry might have even been prettier.
Once our eyes connected my heart thumped loudly in my chest, I didn't know why. I chewed my cheek and glared at Alex, him returning it with a smile. He knew what was happening! Wait! He knows!
My face fell into shock for around the third time that night, "What! Did you.. Alex what the hell!?" I yelled, I wasn't mad, how could I be mad at him. He's there to protect me with his life!
"What? I just smiled at you! Calm down, you freaking angry dog!" Alex shouted.
"Oh?! I'm the dog?!" I yelled, trying not to laugh.
This was a quite funny situation. We were on top of a mountain, surrounded by the northern lights, yelling and calling each other dogs while our voices echo'd and bounced off the mountains back to each other.
Alex only pouted after he shut his mouth, not wanting to say another word. Or maybe he forced it down.
Thinking back to earlier, everything started to add up..
"Alexavier, are you...." I paused, my brows furrowed. I looked dumbfounded and utterly speechless at the moment, I didn't know how to react to what I was thinking. Or if I was thinking or knew I was right..
The silence fell, my heat barrier fell, the only thing keeping me warm was the blush on my face and the heat shared by the two people standing fairly close to each other. Me and Alexavier.
The only sound there was the wind.
As snow started to fall from the sky, Alexavier opened his mouth to speak.
"Yes, Calvin. I am your blood bonded mate." His words were soft in my ears that were now red and cold to the touch. I didn't know how to react, but I definitely wasn't expecting blood bonded..
What does that mean, even!?
When Alex noticed the confusion in my face he gave a small smile, ruffling my hair with his abnormally large hand.
"I'm your mate because of the contract we made when we were little. You would have never known about it back then, and it's been burned now, but the contracts words still stand. Nothing much would have been different, though. You confirmed that you were my true mate when you did the that energy barrier just now.... It was strange feeling you pull energy from me to use at your own will.. but I didn't mind." Alex said with his soft tone that I always saw as rough and possibly mean. Maybe it scared me how powerful it was..
"So, you can't take energy from a blood bonded mate?" I asked.
"No, it's a ability only shared by true mates. People call us... Fated Mates. Soul Mates. And I call us True Mates. Even if you feel like you are living in the unknown. You can know that, okay?"
Alexavier's reassuring words made me smile softly.
"Yes, Sir-e." I giggled and sighed, looking back to everything around us.
"I wonder..." Mumbling, I shut my eyes, letting a rush of heat run over me. Before I knew it, I was back in my own world, on the same mountain. I was on earth.
"What are you doing?"
I glanced over at Alex. He went wherever I went now?..
"You.." I muttered, stumbling over what I wanted to point out.
"I'm here with you?" He asked, a brow lifted, "I'm your Guardian, I will be going everywhere with you. You know this." Alex chuckled, "Now what are we doing on Earth again?"
Oh, I must have forgot about that from all the new things. I will have to remember that next time.
"Because. We are gonna have a long ride back home to Snowy Mountainside town aren't we?" I asked with a mischievous grin. My eyes still glowing a faint purple, I could see it in the reflection of Alex's own eyes.
"Gah, I guess so.." he grumbled and sighed, starting to walk down the mountain.
Now, the questions about the mate thing was about to get very annoying to Alex.
