Lawrynce laid on Alexavier's back while they went through the forest. The smell of wet dog and shampoo was mixed together. He also smelled a sort of smokey, campfire, sort too..
He had slept most the way there, and Alexavier was starting to get tired. The sun wasn't up yet.
He felt Alexavier shift to his human form while he clutched tighter around Alex's neck to not fall off. He was still half asleep.
"Alright, we are gonna stop here for a while and rest up." Alex whispered, and when Lawrynce opened his eyes to look around him, well, he was first shocked to see that Alex still had clothes on. Another spell most likely. He probably had the spell down pat by now.
But once Lawrynce looked around him, they were in a damp cave, there was hay on the floors, and some animal furs.
"Is this where you used to stay before you moved?.." I asked softly, still clinging to the taller lean male.
Alexavier chuckled, "Affirmative." He said and I hopped off, sitting down on one of the fur skins of what looked like a mountain lion.
"Okay, now that we only have three more hours to go. How about I have a much needed talk with you." Alex said, sitting next to Lawrynce.
"I'm not in trouble am I?" I asked jokingly. It felt as if my dad was about to scold me, but I knew better to think that of Alex.
"No. Actually, you might get mad at me." He whispered, and put his face in his hands, then sighed.
It was cold in the cave, but I kept up a steady current of heat going through my limbs to keep me warm. Still, I grabbed another fur from along the walls and covered me and Alex with it. I don't care if he's a werewolf, he can still get cold too.
"So.." he started, catching my attention while he fixed the fur blanket atop his legs, "You get that you're my mate." He whispered and I nodded.
"That part is clear.." I said to myself.
"Yeah,..well, that also means.. I will have to turn you into one of us." Alexavier's voice was brash.
I blinked for a moment then laughed hastily, "So, I'll be a werewolf?" I asked, a smile on my lips.
I didn't understand why that made me happy.
"Yeah, and it's not such a good thing. You don't have to turn right away, I would actually rather use it in an emergency.. A near death situation. Or something.. I, hopefully, will never let you get to near death." Alexavier rambled, letting me take in all I could.
"Okay. But why a near death situation?..."
"Well,...because just like Carden; you could die, Lawrynce. You're a human being bit in the nape of your neck, while my fangs sink into you and give you this type of intoxicating venom. It hurts, Calvin."
The way he said my name..
The way he avoided eye contact..
The way he seemed..upset..
"But that won't happen! Carden is okay!" I said, trying to cheer Alexavier up from his gloomy state.
"You don't understand!" Alex yelled, making me flinch and jerk back, away from him. My smile fell.
He avoided eye contact, I could even see his jaw clenching.
"If I do this, and you don't make it, that blame would be put on me! I.. I'm supposed to protect you, not kill you, Lawrynce.." his voice trembled.
Seeing him like that, it hurt. But, I wasn't about to intervene his talking. I didn't want to get the same backlash as a few seconds ago.
"You would be an omega. That leaves you venerable, and I would have to protect you at all times no matter what. I'm fine with that. But you're bold, you do things you aren't supposed to. You are stubborn! You're....Hell, you're Calvin Valente." Alex chuckled and brought a knee to his chest.
"I need you to know all of these things. I have to show you all of these things. I want to tell you so many things. But I don't know how you will react. I can't hurt you. I need to see how you are, see how you act, see how you think. I need to know everything I can. I've been trying so hard, Calvin.." he whispered, and I could almost here the wolf in him whimpering. My frown deepened.
I know what I can do..
"Hey,.." I whispered, "like you said. I'm Calvin Valente. I don't go down easy." I gave him a grin, my hand on his cheek, forcing his face towards mine. I just need your eye contact, Alex..
"I know, it's a lot.. But I will do what you need me to. And I will do what I have to." I sighed, "And I wouldn't die on you so easily now would I? Like you said, I'm stubborn." My thumb caressed his cheek. I didn't really know how to calm people down, so I was hoping this was working.
"I also know we don't even know each other well. You know me as much as I know you. I wanna know more about you, though, Alex.." I said in a hushed tone.
His eyes still avoiding my gaze, I saw his throat bob, he was swallowing back tears.
"You shouldn't have to be strong for me or anyone. I know how that feels.. dad..well, who I thought was my dad, used to tell me to beat up Miles. The kid who bullied me.. You rescued me, though. Thank you." I gave a breathy laugh.
"With the help of Elliott and Felix." Alex added.
"With the help of Elliott and Felix." I repeated after him with a teeth showing a grin, "Now, what do you want to know?" I asked.
I dropped my hand just as Alex met eyes with me, and took my hand, placing it back on his cheek.
I felt my breathing slow, as if he was calming me. Was this something he could do that I couldn't?..
"I want you to tell me how you feel about the situation.. The truth, Calvin." He spoke, his words rough but soft at the same time..
Oh, how I was starting to love his voice..
Ahah, what am I thinking?
I furrowed my eyebrows partially and glanced away.
How did I feel about the situation..
"Well, I actually don't mind it. I could of had an asshole for a mate and I didn't. I got, you. I guess that's good." I smiled, "Then the demons.. I know, I'll find a way to get rid of them.." I whispered, "Then there's what you said,... I've got to overcome being a werewolf. And I'm sure that shouldn't be too much work. Maybe a little scary,..yeah, I'll admit.. I am a little scared of that.. Of pain.." My smile diminished. I was telling Alex how he shouldn't be sad or fake for anyone, and here I was hiding my true feelings.
Well, they're out there now..
"Hey, look at me." Alexavier said, and I came back to reality, looking up into Alexavier's eyes.
"Don't be scared. I won't let anything hurt you." He said, his jaw clenched, and his eyes showed truth and compassion with a hint of glistening bright purple.
He was telling me the truth.
"I know there is more. Tell me. Let it out." He reassured. I dropped my hand from his cheek, him letting it willingly fall to my side. I turned my body to face him.
"Well, I am a little frightened to be an omega." I gave a small nervous giggle, I didn't ever have anyone to talk to before.. This was nice. Yeah, Stephen was there, but I hated burdening people with my feelings. But I felt as if I could give all my worries to Alex and he would destroy them..
"Oh, you won't be just a normal omega." He smiled, and I thought I could see a hint of a smirk in it, but maybe I was imagining things.
"What do you mean?" I asked, bunching my eyebrows again.
"You already know about Super Alpha's. So, you tell me." Now he had a visible smirk.
Oh yeah,... a Super Alpha has to have a superior mate. So, Alex would need a Super Omega. And since I'm Alex's mate through and out of our bond..
"I'm gonna be a Super Omega.." I said quietly to myself, looking down to the ground with shock.
"Mhm, that's why it's another big risk. Not only are the S rank Alpha's strong but their omega's will be too. So, I already know you're strong. I just hope you can endure the pain it will bring you to shift.." he whispered, tilting his head to get in my line of view. My eyes met his again, I felt a slight sting in my eyes.
What if I wasn't a good enough omega, though?
Can't he break a bond and contract with a swoop of his hand?
"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong?" He asked, his hand reaching out while his fingers brushed my hair out of my eyes.
"I.. Is it possible for me to not be good enough? I mean, you have been protecting me this whole time and I would hate to be weak or a complete failure as an omega and have people look down on...." I paused my words.
My breath hitching when he put his forehead to mine, my cheeks cupped in his hands.
"What are you.." I started but Alex sighed.
"It's impossible for you to do anything such as make me weak. You're looked upon as I am seen. If I am a great alpha, you will be looked at just as I am. Like now, people look at you with respect because they know you are mine. And mine only, Calvin.." Alexavier muttered.
My heart felt as if it was doing backflips. I didn't know how to react to what he was saying, my mouth agape as I thought of something to say.
"Don't think down upon yourself, okay?" He asked, his eyes shut as if he was thinking.
"Ok-okay.." I stuttered out.
"Now,..when did you learn how to enter your own mind?" He asked.
I flinched.
How did he know about that?
"How.." I started but paused, "Three nights ago.... I didn't mean to.." I added.
He nodded and moved his forehead away from mine, a smile upon his lips, dropping his hands from my rosy cheeks,"Mm, thanks for telling me the truth. What I did just now let's me read your thoughts. I learned it because I know how choked up you can get sometimes.." he muttered. "Another S rank ability." He grinned.
So, did he know about everything I thought?..
Oh, boy..
"Can I show you?..." I asked.
Alex lifted a brow, confused.
So, he didn't see everything.
"Just try and sleep." I smiled, then put my head on his shoulder, getting myself comfortable. A few moments later, we were both huddled up to keep each other warm while I connected my mind with his.
"Welcome to my mind." I chuckled, standing on the calm water of where I usually would be freaked out. Scared the same thing as last time would happen.
The other me wasn't there. I don't know why.
Alexavier stood on the raft while I tried to change the scenario from the daylight, to dark, and it worked. I was really getting better.. Getting a grasp of what I could really do.
"This is.." he looked around, his mouth partially open in astonishment.
"My mind." I repeated.
"What memory do you wanna see?" I asked.
It was about to be a fun, scary, tear jerking, but great, night.
