"It's nothing. She just has asthma and week immune. That's it."
Victor's eyes widened the moment he heard Scarlett and froze where he stood. He didn't know about this though he was with her back before seven years. The time seemed stopped around him. Scarlett was still looking at the sky as she spoke again.
"Actually, It's not that serious matter. She is using inhalers. I guess, as her age rises she'll be cured totally. But for now, she has to use them to stabilize her breath."
'Her breath?? Since when she's been suffering from this?? I didn't even hear them talking about this before. Yeah, It's not that serious. But why don't they want anyone to know about it?? Are they thinking this as their bane??'
Victor was thinking a lot about it that he wasn't looking down for the reason Martha has been suffering but for the one he didn't know this matter since years.
"Since when??" He finally let his voice out and Scarlett glanced at him without turning her face.
"Huh??"
"Since when she has been suffering from asthma??"
Scarlett averted her gaze again to the sky as she got troubled how to explain it. She gave it a thought and took another heave of breath as she begun to speak.
"Ahh.. That's hard to explain, you know. But I can say she has it since her childhood. I mean when she was 2 or 3 years around. But her first asthma attack was when she got cured from typhoid in her childhood. Since then, She has been like this."
"She got typhoid...Oh yeah In your cousin sister's wedding. Is it??"
"You're right. Since then her asthma got into shine that before mom and dad knew it, she used to get hold of her breath."
The aura of Victor was going dark that his inner feelings were in chaos. While she was suffering out of breath he was away engrossing in piano. While she was feeling hard to take breath he was away living a happy life without thinking about her thoughts. While she heaved her childhood days with medicines he was away enjoying his childhood. These boundless thoughts drove his mind insane.
"She didn't even care mentioning me about her health. When she was begging for breath I was immersed in piano tunes. And now, that I'm back I said 'I'll be with you always as I did before'. Indeed I've never been her support since her childhood."
"Vicky, You guys really take this as a worst scenario. It's not. Even Martha!! She too takes this as if she's going to die tomorrow."
"Martha?? Does she take it seriously??"
"Yeah. She always says she hated this. She wanted to be strong physically and mentally. But everything comes from experience, isn't it?? She really had tough time to breath when she got asthma attack."
"Is it sudden or did she get it from gene??"
"You can foretell that. It's gene. From father. She says she hated father for this. Haha that little kid."
Victor begun to frame her face struggling for breath and he clenched his fists. Martha's suffer was the last thing he wanted. He didn't expect this little girl to have weak health.
"When did she has her recent attack??" He questioned her as he moved close.
"Can you believe me if I said this??" Scarlett was quick to respond.
"Just don't stun me." He was expecting a good word that may sooth his thoughts he had a while ago. Scarlett then smiled as she spoke.
"Be glad, kid. It was 2 years ago. Till then she used to have asthma attacks frequently. Now as she's using inhalers, she didn't get hit since 2 years."
"That's glad to hear, Scarlett."
Victor heaved a deep breath in satisfaction that she's getting cured and that gave him a hope of her living a free life.
"She just needs to control her appetite upon sweet and cold food at nights. She cannot eat lemon, orange. Actually 2 years back she could not even touch her fluffy toys which provoke the demon in her, but now that's not a matter at all."
"So, The grape ice thing...."
"No worries, kid. She can have it tomorrow morning."
"Mmm."
"Okay Robert, let's get inside. We have school tomorrow." Scarlett said as she moved back when she halted hearing Victor's voice.
"Scarlett."
"Hmm??"
"Martha didn't want anyone to know about her asthma, right??. So don't tell her that I knew it already. I want her to open up with me by herself."
"Roger that, dude. Now get in."
Scarlett along with Victor then stepped inside the room and saw the little cat's pleasant sleeping face. He reached Martha, squatted and moved his face closer to hers. He felt her breath and closed his eyes as if he was going to remember her pace of breath. He then ruffled her hair as he whispered.
"Good night, Little Grape."
Scarlett smiled looking at them both as she took seat on the other side of the bed.
"Vicky, go and sleep. We have school tomorrow." She then whispered and he could do nothing but nod obediently as he left the room. Scarlett looked at the closed door and after a few moments she turned her face to see the little cat's pleasant sleeping face.
"My dear sister, You have people who care you. You must be strong inside, okay??" Scarlett whispered as she laid down on the bed and closed her eyes.
In the boys' room,
"Where did you go??" Vincoln was long awake that he was leaning on the headboard as if he was waiting for his brother.
"To have fresh air."
"Ohh really!! I thought you went to sneak into Martha's room."
"Stop bugging Vinny, We have school tomorrow. Let's sleep."
"Yeah, I give in."
The both guys lied down and turned back to back as they were asleep but Victor wasn't. He had a tough time sleeping. He was still thinking about Martha's health and clenched his fists that he couldn't do anything about her health.
"Little Grape, You have me. Now you can depend on your so called dumbass, me." He whispered as he closed his eyes.
These words didn't escape from the ears of the one beside whose eyes were left eyes were wide open, heaved a deep breath as he mumbled himself.
'What's wrong with you??'
