The bookshelf was large and took up the entire 10-meter long and 3-meter tall wall. Only the top shelf had books on it with only half of that shelf being full.
'What exactly are these books?' Seth asked himself before grabbing the first one at the end and picking it up. But before he was able to even open the cover, he felt the room flash and his point of view change.
He was no longer in the mind room but instead was in a dark room. Everything seemed warm and damp around him. Without thinking too hard, Seth already had an idea of what was going on.
'I am in a womb? Am I in a memory? That makes sense. What else would be on a bookshelf in a person's mind and the first book on that shelf? So I am in his first memory."
Thinking up to here, Seth tried out several things in order to try and understand just how the memory worked. After a few experiments, he found out the limits of his new 'ability'.
Each book/memory was a month in length. They were all through Alex's point of view so Seth was only able to see the things and hear the things that he saw. The memories were also, well, memories so he could not change anything.
He could however fast forward, rewind, pause while inside the memories to skip things that he felt were not important. The most important thing though was the time that passed.
Even after going through a book and waiting for it to pass through the whole month, Alex had not awakened and was still in the middle of the same dream Seth had left him on. It actually seemed like almost no more than a few minutes had passed.
After a few tries, Seth figured out that this was not actually caused by being in the memory but time when he was in the mind space and going checking out the different books and the room. When he was inside the memories, no time outside passed at all.
So using this new knowledge, Seth went through all 15 years' worth of memories of his 'host' as he put it. He knew everything about Alex, even some things Alex did not know due to forgetting or not being aware.
The world was similar to Kaiba's previous world except it seemed to be a hundred or so years behind. The number of Alphas was much fewer while technology was also behind. The total number of Alphas was also much fewer than in his. He had killed more Alphas during his final battle than he estimated that existed on this Earth.
And after going through the memories, he looked down on Alex even more than before.
'This boy is a complete coward. So what if you have a scar. So what if that girl left you. You were planning to commit suicide soon over her and a few normal humans? Trash!'
The funniest part that Seth saw was that he saw Samantha's true nature. Sure, at first they were innocent friends. But around 12, Samantha started acting differently around Alex.
Although he did not notice it, Seth did. He could tell that the girl became even more aware of her looks and began using Alex as a human shield to protect her from admirers. Whenever someone would try to flirt with her, she would use him as an excuse and push all the blame onto him.
The girl had not recently abandoned Alex but had instead started to abandon him around 3 years prior. And seeing it all happen, Seth could not help but laugh.
'This boy was too innocent and trusting! Childhood friends? Those things never last. How many childhood couples have I made fight each other to the death just for a chance for themselves to live or given one the opportunity to abandon the other so that they may live?'
Seth just laughed at it all. He studied each memory a few times until he fully understood Alex. This was not due out of curiosity but preparation. Although he was not sure if it was possible, he wanted to be able to imitate Alex if he was able to one day take over Alex's body.
After going through his memories, Seth decided to practice with his ability and weapon's ability. And after doing a few tests, he was surprised by the result.
Not only could he use his powers inside of Alex, but he could also project the weapons outside of Alex as well as use their abilities outside of him while still being inside of Alex's soul/mind. He had even given his powers to Alex and could take them away. Alex would wake up with a few mysterious holes in his bed as a part of that experiment.
Like giving Alex his blade's ability to make him fireproof before sending a ball of fire at Alex's arm. The result was the fire striking the skin before disappearing but not leaving a mark on Alex.
'So I can use all my powers and even give this kid my powers. I can use this to my advantage. I need more information about his world. This kid only knows the basic stuff but knows nothing about more important things.
I need to either find a way to get a better host, take over his body, or get my own body in the future. But those are all long term goals that I am not even sure I can do.
So my best chance is getting people to believe this kid is an Alpha. Even if he just goes to that 1st high school that the Samantha girl transferred into, I would be able to get so much more information.'
Although he was unsure if Alex would be his final host or final chance to live, he planned as if he would not be. For Seth, only by having back-up plans would he be able to stay ahead of everyone else. With these thoughts in mind, Alex's life would soon change whether he liked it or not.
