Emergency Contact

(There are spoilers in this chapter if you are not up to date on the Anime)

A couple of days passed, slowly at that, and the tension around campus when it came to Aizawa and the seven students was almost able to be cut through with her claws. Midoriya and Togata seemed to be taking this mission the hardest, making her worry about what kind of dangerous mission they were all in. It was killing her not to know what was going on since she was usually the first to find out information considering her work with HPSC.

She was currently lying on his bed while she waited for him to join her. They had decided to stay in his room since it would be easier for him to work and file paperwork. On this night, they had been up especially late with some papers he needed to look over and grade.

"Shouta…" She flashed her eyes over to the clock on the desk, "It is almost three a.m." She rolled off the bed and walked over next to him at the desk he was working at, "If you get that call, you're going to be too tired."

He grunted as she put her hands on his shoulders, squeezing them lightly, "I guess you're right."

He put the papers into one pile and stood, her hands falling off his shoulders as she grabbed his hand instead, "I'm rarely wrong, Mr."

She let him go to turn off the lights and he waited for her to get into the bed before following her. She coaxed him onto his back so she could curl up next to him and put her head on his covered chest. His arm came up and around her neck and he rested his hand on the end of her shoulder where he ran his thumb over it several times. She didn't know if she would ever be able to sleep alone anymore because of this man.

They fell into a light sleep only to wake a little over two hours later to a high pitched beeping sound coming from the tablet on his desk. He groaned softly, gently helped her move off of him, and shuffled his way over to his desk to turn off the horrible sound.

He sat in his seat and looked at the message for several minutes, leaning back, "They did a good job finding out in such a short time."

"Is it the message you've been waiting for?" Kit yawned into her hand, sitting up now in the bed.

"Yes, it is time." He gave a sigh, "I need to get ready."

Kit's ears lowered slightly and she quickly got dressed along with him, "I'll walk you out."

He nodded as he also pulled out a fresh uniform and got dressed, becoming more awake slowly. After grabbing his goggles and scarf, they walked out of the dorm and made their way to the main gate. Getting close, she saw seven sleepy eyed students still attempting to wake up already waiting at the gate. They seemed to register at the last minute that she was there and looked at Aizawa confused, then back to her.

Kit greeted them with a smile, "I'm only here to see you off." She eyed each student, noting that despite being tired, they each looked determined, "I wish you all a safe mission and know that I am cheering you on!"

They all thanked her and began to make their way down to the loading area where a bus waited to take them to Sir Nighteye's agency. Aizawa didn't follow them at first, taking a second of his time to give her a meaningful look, before he started forward to follow his students on the bus.

Now, it was Kit's turn to be tense and distracted. Walking through the halls of the school, she nearly ran into several students before making it to her office. Before she got there, even a couple of teachers had asked if she was okay. She gave a generalized answer saying she was, but really she knew she wasn't. The memories of Aizawa lying in the hospital bed after the USJ incident… she just didn't want to see him like that ever again.

It was a little before ten a.m. when Yamada and Kayama came to her office, Yamada holding up a bento, "I figured I'd ask if you wanted some late breakfast since I can almost bet you didn't eat this morning."

Kit's eyes dashed to Kayama to see if she understood why he would think she didn't eat breakfast yet, but she seemed oblivious, "Sure, do you guys want to eat in here? No one has requested any appointments yet today."

"Yeah!" Yamada walked in to sit on her couch, "I hope you like what I brought. It isn't anything fancy like what you normally make."

Kayama sat next to him, looking to Kit, "Have you heard anything about Aizawa or the mission yet?"

Kit sat down last, opening the bento slowly, "I can't bring myself to turn on the television to check if anything major has happened and I've gotten no phone calls yet."

They all began to munch on their bentos and conversation beginning between Mic and Midnight. She couldn't help but stare at them for a little while, wondering why they were not more worried. Looking away after that thought, she knew why; she loved that man while they were simply friends with him. This personal confession caused a jolt to go through her.

"Kit, at least eat the rice." Kayama was leaning across the coffee table and pressed a finger into her cheek, "Everything will be okay."

"This won't be like the USJ accident." Mic gave her a soft look, "The heroes are the ones acting first, not the villains."

"I know, I know." She shook her head, "I just---." Her reply was cut short by her personal cell phone ringing, which was unusual during school hours, "Excuse me." She pulled it out of her pocket to show an unknown number for the caller I.D., but she answered it anyway, "Hello?"

"Hello, I am trying to get in touch with someone named Kit?" The woman's voice on the other end sounded very professional, yet kind.

"Uhh, this is her, can I help you?" She looked across from her to her friends to see they were trying to listen in as well.

"Yes, Ms. Kit, we have you down as an emergency contact for a…" The woman on the other end paused for a second, "Aizawa Shouta?"

Kit shot out of her chair, nearly tripping in the process, "Yes, yes! Is he okay? Is he hurt?"

"Oh, he is fine, dear. He is finishing up his exam and asked for us to give you a call to please come to meet him here at the hospital." The woman rattled off the hospital address, "He asks that you take your time and that he already called to inform your boss of your absence."

Kit's breathing returned to semi-normal, "Thank you, I'll be on my way shortly."

When she hung up, Mic was giving her a mixture of shock and hurt look, "Since when did you become Shouta's emergency contact?" He raised his hands dramatically, "He has never had one since I've known him and I've known him since school. I should've been his emergency contact!"

Kit blinked at him, "I-I don't know, but I need to go!" She dashed around the office to gather her things, "Lock up my office when you leave, please."

Running from the room, she went to the dorms to finish getting ready. She went into his room as well to grab little things she thought he would need like extra eye drops, spare clothing, and even grabbing his yellow sleeping bag if he wanted it. This only took several minutes before she was heading back outside and towards the staff parking lot to go to her car that she rarely used, but was very thankful she had at the moment.

She arrived under an hour later at the hospital and after receiving instructions as to how she could find him, she found herself stepping on the elevator onto a quiet floor. She walked down the hall and came to a waiting room where she not only saw Aizawa, but also All Might, Recovery Girl, Midoriya, and a couple of others. Everyone was quiet, eyes far away staring at different places, seeming almost like zombies. The only one who seemed to notice her presence was Yagi, who raised a hand in greeting, but did nothing else. Aizawa was sitting off to the side by himself in a chair, hunched over with his head being held up by his thumbs on his chin and fingers against his forehead.

She took cautious steps to approach him, "Shouta?"

His head snapped up, startling her slightly, "Kit, you made it."

"Yeah, I came as soon as I got the call." She looked at the others in the room and couldn't help but be concerned as she noticed the missing students, "Erm…"

He stood up before she could inquire anything, grabbing her wrist, and pulled her to the other side of the large waiting room where it was more private, "The mission was a success, but not without complications."

She felt as if her throat was collapsing, her eyes roamed his form, "Complications? Are you okay? Are you more injured than I can see?"

He flashed her a small smile, the hand that held her wrist moved to her hand to give her a squeeze, "I only got ten stitches, but some of the other students got pretty banged up." She opened her mouth, but he gave her a look that made her pause, "There was a death of a Pro Hero."

She sucked in a gasp, looking towards the others in the waiting room, looking over each one. When her gaze stopped on Yagi, she was able to put two and two together.

"Sir Nighteye?" She asked him quietly.

He gave her a surprised look, but when he looked to where she was, he seemed to understand, "Yes, he was gone just thirty minutes before you came in." He looked back down at her, "And Togata… he was shot with some kind of drug that works like my quirk, but more permanent." He gave a heavy sigh, "He is quirkless now."

Her eyes widened, a hand rising up to her mouth, "I didn't know that the mission was that dangerous."

"There is more, but the rest can wait until later." He gave a small motion towards the others in the room, "I know you're more geared towards the students, but they all, outside of Recovery Girl, lost someone important today." His shoulders slumped slightly, "I've spoken to them all just a bit, but this is more of your field than mine. Maybe you could help them better?"

"I can try." She began to set down the things she brought with her, slipping his sleeping back from under her arm, "Here, I figured you'd want this. It has a spare set of clothing for you inside."

He took it gratefully, his eyes drooping as if already wanting to nap, "You know me so well."

"I'd hope so." She gave him another squeeze to his hand, but then turned to the others in the room.

Just as she reached the small group, she heard a questioning tone call out to her, "Kit?"

Her cyan eyes darted over to look at another woman in the room. She had light blue skin, dark blue hair, and yellow eyes. Kit could tell that she was currently in street wear because she recognized this girl quite well. She had been in the same class as this girl, Awata Kaoruko, or her hero name Bubble Girl.

"Awata?" Kit shared her questioning tone, eyeing the centipede looking hero next to her, "Um, I take it you were part of the mission with the Nighteye agency?"

"I am... was a sidekick to Sir Nighteye." The girl's eyes watered instantly and the centipede handed her a tissue from his pocket.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Kit tilted her head, forward, "Well, I'm actually here to try and help."

After she finished with Bubble Girl, she spoke with everyone individually, except for Midoriya who wanted to walk and invited All Might to join them. She didn't mind; she only wanted him to be comfortable. He spoke with her about everything, from the man called Overhaul to a young girl named Eri. He cried a lot, but she was used to him being emotional.

What surprised her was when he flung himself into her arms, burying his head. It was this moment that she had to remind herself that he was still just a young teen. With them living at the dorms, they were not getting their usual affection that they could've gotten from their parents.

Outside of that, she knew with trauma work, sometimes another human's touch could go a long way to help someone recover. So, instead of pushing him away, she held him just as tightly, and whispered reassuring words to him. All Might couldn't keep the tears from falling either and she raised a hand to grip his shoulder, also hoping the touch would help him.

Soon, he seemed to calm down and he pulled away from her, "I'm sorry, I didn't... I should've asked..."

"This is what I'm here for." Kit placed a hand on top of his curly hair, "Anytime."

His eyes were still glossy when he made eye contact and gave her a closed eyed, thankful smile, "Thank you."

Kit followed them back to the waiting area, where a doctor asked to do a final check on him. She decided then to talk to the rest of the students and so she went to each room and checked on them. She had to stop herself from crying at the sight of Kirishima, Amajiki, and Togata who were covered in bandages. They reassured her that the damage was not as bad as it looked, but she couldn't help but want to mother hen them a little. Of course, they all were pretty receptive of this side of her, though it seemed to fluster Amajiki even more than normal.

It was getting pretty late before she was finally finished, she made her way back out to the waiting room where now only Aizawa sat on a couch, only halfway in his sleeping bag. When he saw her come in, he flashed a sleepy smile and motioned her over next to him.

He stood, stepping out of his sleeping back, as she got closer, "Did everything go okay?" He sat down first and she sat next to him, "You were with them for a while."

"Considering everything they've gone through, they're doing well." She paused as he draped the sleeping bag across the both of them, "It takes a few days for trauma to settle in sometimes, so I'll have to keep an eye out for them." She couldn't help but want to snuggle in closer to him, but she didn't since she didn't know if he was ready yet, "Where are your stitches so I don't touch them on accident?"

He shifted a little closer to her, "Recovery Girl decided she would heal me since it was so minor." He grumbled, "I protested, but she did it anyway."

For some reason, thinking about granny Recovery Girl forcing her healing kiss on a reluctant Aizawa made her giggle madly for a moment, "I bet that was a sight to see."

"Mmm…" He hummed as he put an arm around her to pull her close, surprising her, "The students are all staying one more night and since you brought me my sleeping bag, I volunteered to stay as well so they are not alone."

"Oh." She snuggled more into his side since he was holding her, "Is it okay if I stay?"

He nodded, his head dropping slightly in fatigue, "You can, but I'm not going to be of much entertainment." She felt his head rub on top of hers, "Recovery Girl's healing didn't take too much out of me, but I was already running on fumes."

She bit her lip for a second before moving over slightly and tugged him down quickly before he could protest. He blinked up at her as he now found himself now in a lying position with his head in her lap and her pulling the blanket up around his shoulders.

"Sleep." She commanded him softly as she began to run her claws carefully through his hair, "I'll stay right here with you."

"Mhmm..." He rubbed his head a couple of times and before long he was breathing quietly in his sleep.
