Her Rescue

Something moving around her hands had Kit's mind become aware slowly. They were swollen and hard to open, but she opened her eyes to a dark room. She looked as best she could towards a window where she could see what looked like streetlights, telling her it was still the middle of the night.

She wiggled for a second before noticing that Dabi wasn't holding her any longer and so she lifted her head. Thankfully there was enough light from the light outside so the reflective lenses from being a fox made it to where she could see around her.

What seemed to wake her in the first place surprised her, seeing a bright red feather sawing at the restraints on her wrists. She knew who the owner of the feather was and she nearly wanted to cry in relief, but bit her lip instead.

"Shhh." The voice startled her, "I'm trying to keep a feather out and cut at the same time, but it takes a little bit." Kit's eyes darted over towards the voice, seeing her savior there, "Don't make a sound or else we are both in trouble."

Kit was so confused, but she nodded anyway, letting her eyes drop back to the feather cutting away slowly at the cuffs. A sound coming from the other room halted the progress of the feather's cutting and she looked over to see him gritting his teeth. His eyes darted her way for a moment before quickly going over to a cracked open door to look through it.

He eased the door closed quietly, "This is taking too long." Within a few flaps, he was next to her pulling her close to his body making her wince, "I'm sorry I didn't save you earlier..." He lifted her up into a bridal style as smoothly as he could, "I can't have my cover blown and this still could do it if anyone finds out."

He went over to a window that was unlatched and looked out of it for a moment, his eyes closing as a few feathers left his wings. This was the most serious she had ever seen the winged boy from her childhood.

His eyes snapped open to look down at her for a moment, "Calm your heart; it's distracting and with all your injuries... you don't need high blood pressure." He blinked and she saw the feathers he sent out returning to his wings as he opened them to take flight, "Press your face into my jacket cause it's snowing and I'm going to go fast."

Kit only had a second to do this before they were in the air and the scenery around them was a blur. The feeling of suddenly falling made the pit of her stomach rise into her throat, but she swallowed the feeling down as best she could. It felt like he only pushed his wings a few times before they flew into another building. She was sat against a wall so she could lean against it to be as comfortable as possible.

"I'm going to send in an anonymous tip to the police that the League was spotted here." Hawks then looked around where he had taken them, "I can't be exposed that I was the one who saved you, so don't tell anyone." His eyes darted towards her for a moment, softening slightly, "I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I wish I was able to get you before they could've done the damage they did but..."

"Thank you." Kit whispered, her throat hoarse, "They were going to experiment on me for Dabi..."

"Don't thank me yet..." She watched as his fist clenched at his side as he began to walk away, "... and I know." He reached the window they must have came in at, "I have to go, but when I send in the tip, someone should get here within hours since I'm sure they'll pull together several heroes." He hesitated, then quickly made his way back to her side, "I love you, Vixen."

He gave her as soft of a kiss he could with her busted lips, his breath coming out harsh through his nose before he pulled away. He looked her in the eyes for a moment while stroking her face, then he was gone in a flash. Kit looked around, curious to where exactly he had taken her, but hopefully she would find out soon.

She swallowed as she looked down at the cuffs that were attached to her hands, then to the ones that held her ankles together. Giving a few tugs, she could see where Hawks' feather had started to do damage, but it was a good thing he did stop because it would've taken hours to saw through at the pace he was going. Staring at them though, she noticed her eyes were beginning to become heavy and didn't realize she had slipped off to sleep until a sound woke her up again.

Her ears twitched as she heard voices outside that sounded like they were attempting to be quiet, but with her hearing it wasn't very. They sounded urgent and she couldn't help but become nervous that maybe tipping off the police would have tipped off L.O.V. if they had any spies.

Soon, the warehouse around her lit up like a city skyline and soon was stormed in by so many people in police uniform and hero costumes. Kit couldn't help but clench her eyes shut, fear running up and down her spine at the thought of them mistaking her for a League member.

"There is someone here!" She heard a voice several paces in front of her, "She looks injured..."

Her eyes squinted open as best as she could with swollen eyes, the light hurting her eyes, eyeing a short man in a hero costume. She didn't recognize him, but when another stepped up next to him that towered over the smaller man, Kit could've sighed in relief when she recognized the man as Gunhead.

Gunhead was easily recognizable with the silver mask with four holes covering his face. His mint colored hair was long and spiky out the back of the mask. He wore a black vest with a partial gray bodysuit, plain brown pants, and short black boots. On his wrists he had his bracers that looked like a gun revolver.

"Hey, that's Kit!" Gunhead rushed over to kneel in front of her, "My, god." He looked over his shoulder at the other man, "We're going to need a medic and a specialist to get these restraints off."

"Yes, sir!" The other man ran off with his orders.

Kit's eyes began to clear up as Gunhead pulled out a bottle from his pocket, "Can you swallow pain pills dry?"

Kit lifted her head delicately to show her swollen neck, "It is already hard to swallow." Her voice sounded horrible and she hoped he understood her, "I'm sorry..."

He paused as he put the bottle of pills back in his pocket, "I don't know why you're sorry." He looked around, "Were the L.O.V. here?"

Kit opened her mouth after giving a harsh cough, "I don't know where they are. I was with them, but then I woke up here alone..."

A medical team with stretchers came up behind the Pro Hero, "Excuse us, we need to get her checked out so we can get her to the hospital."

Gunhead moved quickly to the side, "I'm going to look around, Kit, so I'm gonna leave you with these guys."

"Thank you, Gunhead." She whispered hoarsely.

"Of course." She watched as he quickly disappeared to look around.

The medical team quickly surrounded her and after a quick assessment, they had her on a stretcher, careful of her tail, and were going outside. Once she was outside, another team came over and made quick work of the restraints that were on her and soon she was free.

While this was happening, she looked around to see several other heroes that included Rock Lock and Mirko. They were each speaking with citizens who looked concerned, reporters who wanted to know what was going on, or other police officials.

Rock Lock looked her way and began to walk over quickly, "Damn, did they torture a civilia---" His voice cut off once he got closer to recognize her, "Kit? What the hell did they do to you?"

This caused the reporters to take notice of her and they attempted to push past the Pro Heroes to take pictures and video. The bright lights and flashes caused a sharp pain to go through her skull and she turned her head the best she could to look the other way.

"Back off!" She could hear Mirko yell at them.

It wasn't long after that she was finally in the ambulance and several of the medics began to question her. She answered the best she could, but her mind was muffled by the headache the lights were causing her. They started an I.V. on her and hooked a nasal cannula to her the best they could with the lack of human ears.

"The closest hero hospital is an hour away, so I'm going to give you a mild painkiller to dull the pain." The medic next to her frowned, "Though I'm not sure if it will do much considering."

"Anything is better than nothing." She attempted to give him a smile, but she was sure he could tell it was forced, "Where am I anyway?"

"We are going into Kyoto." The medic told her while he attached a syringe to her I.V. to push in a clear fluid, "We were lucky there was a hero party and those big heroes were nearby... Even though the League wasn't where you were, they should be nearby, right?"

"I... don't know." Kit could feel a twinge from the meds kick in a little.

They took her to the local hero hospital and she was rushed into a room where several nurses rushed around with bags of fluid or cloths. She was soon in a hospital gown and even more tubes of fluid were being attached to her I.V.

A man came in wearing a doctor's coat and reading a file came in, "We are going to need x-rays of the tail... Ribs..." He looked towards her face and it took a second to cover up his shock, "Uh, I want a full work up of blood work and scans. Is there a possibility that you are pregnant?"

Kit coughed harshly at the question and opened her mouth, but she had to backtrack slightly, "I don't know."

"I want a pregnancy test done." The doctor shook his head as he looked her over, then looked at the nurse, "Has she been given pain meds yet?"

"Other than what she got on the ride in no. We haven't gotten there yet." The nurse looked her way, "We just got done hooking her up."

"Keep them pregnancy safe until we get the results back." The doctor swept from the room to let the nurses continue to work.

Kit let her eyes close as she let the noises around her drown out. Kit knew she went in and out of consciousness after a little while when she heard a couple of nurses talk about the scans that she didn't remember getting. She now had a full oxygen mask on that had straps around her head, causing her to want to itch around it. There were several bags now attached to her I.V. and one she could tell was a blood bag, making her think about her injuries more. Other than that, they had the lights dimmed in her room finally, only leaving a small light on over the sink.

The peace didn't last long though when the doctor came back into the room, "Okay, Kit, we're going to get you going into surgery." She cast him a look that he took as to explain what was going on, "Well, we honestly don't know how you are breathing so well considering your lung is punctured and has also caused some internal bleeding we'll need to fix." He held up a chart, flipping through some pages, "Other than a fracture, there also looks to be some nerve damage to the base of where your tails meet that the MRI picked up that we can fix while you're under."

Kit was quiet for a moment, "Well, I guess I have no choice, huh?"

"Very little." He couldn't help but smirk at her spunk, but then he turned serious again, "I got some other results that are quite important." When he had her full attention, he continued, "You are indeed pregnant. After the surgery, we can get an ultrasound done to find out how far along you are..."

"Pregnant?" Kit felt like her heart actually stopped this time, "Really?"

"Yes." He gave her a thoughtful look, "There are other options like abortion..."

"No!" She winced as her voice cracked, "Sorry, um, but no... I don't want an abortion."

"Then we will take every caution during the surgery to keep the fetus safe then." The doctor wrote some notes on his clipboard, "The surgical team will be in soon to collect you in a few. I'll meet you in surgery."

Right as the doctor went to leave the room, he was nearly run over by one person Kit wanted to see, "Kit!"

"Sir!" The doctor began, but a nurse came up and put a hand on his arm, "Fine, but she only has a couple of minutes."

Kit's eyes instantly teared up, "Shouta..."

His hands gripped the railing of the bed, his eyes wandering over her, "I tried to get here as fast as I could, but I..." His voice faded off as he looked over her swollen body, "I should've gone with you. When I got a call from Endeavor... I knew something had gone wrong."

"Shh," Kit shushed softly though it sounded rough with the way her throat was bruised, "There was nothing that you could've done to stop what happened." She watched as his shoulders slumped, "I'm just glad you are here. Shouta..."

"Hizashi, Yagi, and Recovery Girl are here too." He seemed to hesitate for a moment as he leaned over the railing, his eyes tracing her face before letting his lips touch her forehead, "It doesn't look like they left any of your skin untouched."

She gave a huff of a laugh, "It might have been my fault. Sometimes my mouth gets away with me."

"You always talk back..." He shook his head.

"Shouta, I have something---." Kit was interrupted by a knock at the door.

A couple of people in scrubs came in, and one nurse stepped forward, "We're here to take you to surgery, Kit."

"Surgery?" Aizawa's voice was weak as he eyed the nurses that were untangling wires and tubes for transport.

"I'll be okay." Kit attempted to reassure him, drawing his attention back to her, "But I want a kiss before I go."

His eyes fell to her lips that were busted, "But..." When she narrowed her eyes at him, he grunted before leaning over to softly brush his lips against hers, "I love you, Kit. I'll be here when you get out."

"You better be." She whispered against his lips before giving him one last peck before he pulled away.

"I will have you be informed as soon as she is in recovery, Eraser Head." A scrubbed up nurse attempted to appease the dark hero, "If that is okay with you, Kit?"

"Of course." Kit nodded, but almost instantly regretted it, "He is my emergency contact."

"Okay. I'll put him down on your chart." The nurse smiled softly at them, then released the break on the bed, "We need to get going though."

Kit was pushed out of the room and she was pushed towards the cold surgical room.
