Nat's POV
Today was shit except when Leo took me out on a 'date'.
Even though that date was forced, it still felt nice to hang out with Leo and just have a normal life, even if it was just for a few moments, it was still there and now, that's all that really matters to me.
After all that I've been through, you'd think people would leave me alone for a lifetime but apparently that wish can never be granted.
I can't believe that those Accardi people laughed at me and also I am so very unsafe now. I wish I could go back to Italy and back to that peaceful life, I was living in.
I get up from my bed and go downstairs to my kitchen where I look for a snack I can eat. I go very silently to not wake my parents at this hour.
It's 3:30 at night and I can't sleep, nothing new now.
I look in the fridge for something sweet but find nothing.
Where did all my sweets go?
It's a good thing I guess, it is either that or type two diabetes.
I find a packet of Doritos in one of the cupboards and take it to my room.
I sit on my bed and keep looking at my phone till I decide to go out in my balcony and have the packet. Looking at the phone is doing nothing but increasing my anxiety.
I sit on the chair and start eating the packet of Doritos.
The wind is blowing fast here and it's really refreshing and relaxing. The night is silent and the rustling of leaves is the only sound coming.
The serene aura calms me down and releases the anxiety I hadn't even noticed that I was feeling. I take a deep breath and let out a smile.
The first real smile after a long time.
I sit there for an hour in complete silence before I hear someone call out my name. I look around to see who it is and I see Leo standing in his lawn with a phone in one hand and the other hand raised and waving at me. I wave back to him and smile even though he can't see it from such a distance in the dark.
"Hey! What are you doing up so late?" he shouts.
"I'm eating," I tell him and he laughs.
"This late?" he asks me.
"Ya, so?"
"I mean it's very weird but weird is you so I guess it's okay," he says with a laugh.
Funny?
Not.
"I'm eating in the middle of a night," I say instead.
"Yes you are," he replies
"It's not a crime," I say lamely.
"Keep telling yourself that," he says and goes inside his house.
I huff and get inside my room too.
I've finished my packet now and I feel fine.
I lay on my bed and my phone vibrates in my pocket. I open it and see a new message from Leo.
'Good night :) :)'
It says.
'Good night :)'
I type and send it to him.
I hold the phone in front of my face and start smiling weirdly. It takes me a minute to realize what I was doing and stop smiling.
"I'm going insane, ugh," I groan.
I get up and place my phone on the table beside my bed and lay down on my bed.
I stare at my ceiling and smilingly, I fall asleep.
=====
I get up and check my phone.
It's 6:30, I woke up quite early today.
I look at the battery in my phone and groan.
It's 5 per cent.
I forgot to put it on charging last night, now I'll have to go through the whole day without the battery in the phone.
This day sucks already.
I get up and put my phone on charge.
I go to my washroom to take a shower and when I come back after fifteen minutes, I look for something good and cool to wear in this blazing heat.
I decide to go with a pair of shorts and a crop top.
No skirts for me.
Not with my past few days.
I smile at the memory of Leo blushing.
It was just so cute.
I shake my head and mentally facepalm myself.
What is wrong with me?
I pull my hair into a ponytail and grab my bag and my car keys and rush towards my car.
I'm late for school again.
I reach school another fifteen minutes and park my car and run towards my class.
"I'm so sorry I'm late Mr.Baker--" I say when I open the door but find the class empty.
Where's everyone?
I look in the other classes but they're empty.
Is today a holiday or something?
I go to the field and find the whole school there. Everyone's shouting and hooting. The cheerleaders are dancing with pom-poms in their hands.
What?
I climb up the bleachers and find a place a sit.
I look around to see Nina waving at me and beckoning me to come sit next to her. I go towards her and sit next to her.
"What's all this about?" I ask her.
"It's a pep rally, remember Mrs White told us?" she replies.
"She did?"
"Yes, when you were sleeping I guess"
"Oh," I say and look at those cheerleaders.
They have way too much energy in life.
"When's the game?" I ask after a few minutes.
"Tonight. You're coming?" she asks me with a glint in her eye.
"Tonight? Yes, maybe I'll come," I reply.
I could use some distractions.
"Bring that guy along too," she says with a smirk.
"Which guy?" I ask her.
"Leo, duh," she says with a wink.
"I'll ask him to come, maybe," I say with a smile and she nudges me with her shoulder and gives me a smile.
"Tonight will be fun," she says with a laugh and I can't help but laugh with her.
Football games are always fun.
Let's see about this one.
