Sydney widened her eyes in surprise, as she saw the two handsome guys bringing bouquets of roses with them.
"Sydney, what's the meaning of this? I told you to only have one boyfriend, right?" Snider said, trying to cheer up his sad sister. "I think they even bought from the same florist! Look, the ribbon is the same!"
With that, Sydney pinched her brother's arm to stop him from saying embarrassing things. She looked at them, confused.
"I bought you some roses, I thought this will make you feel a bit better," Lenoir handed over his bouquet to her and Sydney smiled at him.
She then looked at Matt, who was beside Lenoir, and he also reached out the bouquet to her, "Here. For you, Syd." He was thinking about saying something to cheer her up, but Lenoir had already taken the spotlight.
"I'll take those roses," Snider said, and he took the two bouquets from his sister. "Mom, let's put these in the vases."
"Good idea," she replied. The mother and son went to the storage room to find some vases.
"You're both friends of my daughter?" Sydney's father asked, and he scanned them from head to toe. He wondered why all of a sudden, his daughter had two young men as visitors because back then, it was only her friend Olivet who was visiting her at home. "Sit down, please. Sydney, why don't you prepare some iced tea for these two lads."
Sydney didn't want to leave them to her dad, but without a voice, it would be hard to retort. She didn't want her father to misunderstand her relationship with them. With no other choice left, she went to the kitchen to prepare a pitcher of iced tea.
She opened the plastic container box where the pack of powdered iced tea was being kept. She took the scissors from the drawer and cut the top of the pack, then poured it inside the pitcher. After making sure that the pack was empty, she poured three-fourths of water on it and mixed it with a plastic ladle.
As much as she wanted to listen to their conversation, she couldn't, and it was obvious that it had something to do with her if her father purposely made her go away.
When she finally placed ice cubes inside, she hurriedly went to the living room and placed it on the coffee table in front of the guys.
"Keep your promises, and I'll keep mine," Sydney's father told the two, and they both nodded.
Sydney, who was clueless to what they were talking about, just glanced at them, observing their expressions. They seemed to be nervous when she suddenly came.
"Syd! Look what I found in the storage room!" Snider exclaimed excitedly, "It's your old magnetic drawing board!" He gave it to her after wiping the dust with a cloth.
Sydney took the board from his brother. 'How nostalgic,' she thought.
As she held onto that thing, a warm smile appeared on her lips, wondering what she might have drawn into it as a child. Holding the small magnet pen attached to it, she carefully wrote, [THANKS], and showed it to her brother.
"You're welcome! You can use it from now on," Snider returned again to the storage room to help their mother look for the vases.
Sydney scribbled as she pouted, [Y R U BOTH HERE???], and showed it to Lenoir and Matt.
Lenoir uttered, "I want to see you-"
And Matt said at the same time, "I missed you, so-"
The two boys then glared at each other!
"What a competition this is," Sydney's father chuckled, amused with them, "I know, why don't the three of you go out today? The weather's very nice. Besides, Sydney would love to relax a bit. What do you think?" He thought that instead of being sad inside her room, his daughter should instead go out.
Sydney nodded, and she wrote, [I'll just change!] then went upstairs.
She opened the cabinet, wondering what to wear. Would she wear something comfortable like jeans and a shirt? Or wear a dress for a change? Would she wear a headband or a ribbon?
'Wait a minute! Why will I wear a dress, or attempt to be pretty?' She dropped the thought of wearing a dress or putting on any accessory. 'Why am I suddenly becoming conscious… They're just senpai and VIP guy! Am I crazy?'
Shaking her head, she decided to go for a more simple yet comfortable type of clothing. Bringing with her the magnetic drawing board, she hurried downstairs.
Lenoir and Matt found Sydney cute in her oversized white shirt and skinny jeans. Her reddish-brown hair was neatly tied into low pigtails, and she wore a plain blue cap that matched the color of her jeans.
Due to the difference in height, she glanced up at both of them. She scribbled, [Where are we going?]
"Where do you suggest?" asked Matt, who obviously hadn't gone out as normal people do.
"The arcade, or the amusement park, or the movies…" Lenoir suggested, "We can also go to the zoo or the museum…"
"Syd? Where do you want to go?"
[The arcade!] she wrote.
"Okay! The arcade it is," Lenoir excitedly said, "Let's go?"
"Mister McKee, we'll be borrowing your daughter for a while," Matt jokingly told Sydney's father, then they stepped out of the house.
Matt pressed a button on his car key told them, "Let's ride my car-"
"Your car is too much. Let's just take a cab," Lenoir said, then looked around, "I think Sydney will enjoy it if we walk around since we're going to see things better that way. Am I right, Sydney?"
Sydney smiled at her senior and nodded.
"Fine, if Sydney says so… I'm afraid I'll be lost without my navigator, though."
"I'll be your map," Lenoir chuckled, "Besides, I often go to different places every weekend. Oh, the taxi's here."
The three of them rode at the backseat of the taxi.
"Where to?" asked the driver.
"To the train station, please."
